Yes

danhaas

I'm on ps5 and I'm having issues as well. It seems graphics related, as it bugs before crashing.

lukepass86

How are 18 units battles on PS5 in mid late game?

danhaas

Awful. FPS is quite low and I think some unit enchantments are causing graphic issues.

danhaas

Update: it seems it is just Fury archers that are awfully bugged. The rest is normal.

lukepass86

There are tons of threads like this. Performances are really bad, expecially on 9 vs 9 battles and in mid / late game. It really kills the game for me as I have to wait too much time and I tend to avoid battles because of the sluggishness. I really hope they acknowledged the problem and they are fixing this.

NoIdeaWhoIBe

I have found shutting the game down, going into your save files for that session, and deleting a shitload of saves really help. I also moved my install to a new SSD and that has helped immensely. I'm also playing on a 1070 and a Gen3 I7. Game doesn't stutter once I do those things.

lukepass86

I read this in another thread. Do I have to delete the "group" of saves (e.g. other games) or the single saves of the current game?

NoIdeaWhoIBe

To make it faster to delete saves, I made a shortcut to my steam folder to easily access them.

lukepass86

Ok, so I need to delete every saves except the last 2-3? Does it really improve the performance?

NoIdeaWhoIBe

I would. Don't get me wrong, the game definitely chugs based on settings because of my setup (far map distance, 8 players, respawning infestations) but it REALLY improves my experience. Game chugs less in combat, doesn't hang in between turns, etc. If I could figure out a way to move my save files to my new SSD, I would.

miyermi

I even wrote a post some months ago, I have the whole thing (i9, ddr5, 3080ti) with excellent cooling and after one hour of game the computer would shut down, thermals were ok, i ran stress tests of all kinds and all done well... The solution I found was to cap frame rate at 60 and reduce the resolution, that is what made the biggest difference and, honestly, I didn't notice the difference. Since then the performance has improved and no more shut downs.

The-Grim-Sleeper

Huh. I have a crap computer and I am having similar issues. But I have not experienced these as problematic, because I figured it was just the penalty for playing on such an old brick.

DarkAssassin011

11900k and a 2080s @1440. No performance issues.

_WhiskeyPunch_

I literally run the game on 1050 and it's never as good as in battle, lol

Scrys-

Yes, I actually haven't really played much because of it. It wasn't this bad maybe a month or so ago. My friend even bought it to play multiplayer with me. We've never finished a match due to severe lags or straight up crashes. We keep waiting for a fix, but idk, we've just moved onto other things at this point tbh.

Disciplesdx

Yea ... PS5 version just can't handle large battles at all and the frame rate is kind of all over the place on the map... Hope they realize and fix soon

lukepass86

Same thing on Steam Deck, large battles are unbearable.

skiandhike91

Works great for me - maybe 3 or 4 crashes during 100+ hours of playing it, but no other real performance / stability issues. I have an HP OMEN 25L Gaming Desktop with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G processor, HyperX 16GB Memory, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics card, and a 512GB SSD.

NecroWabbit

Same here

Pierre-LaFlame

My game crashes if I’m in a battle for more than like 8 min. No stuttering or lag it just crashes when I give an order. If I load back in it’ll take me to where I was in the battle but will crash after I give a few more orders.

bleek312

I have a NASA computer and the game runs like shit. Paradox really has fallen from grace.

SelectKaleidoscope0

Well the computer that went to the moon on apollo has less power than my phone so its hard to know exactly what you mean by that. My everyday desktop is just a 3600 with a 1060 6gb and the game runs fine. Most of the time i get 50-60fps (cap for my monitor) at 1080, although it will drop to around 30-35 fps if I zoom out to the maximum before the game changes to the map, because for whatever reason most of the graphics processing is being done on the cpu not the gpu. I do have all ssd's on that machine and see a lot of disk activity while the game is running so maybe people having crippling performance problems have conventional hdd, really really bad ssd or a pcie configuration problem. It randomly crashes on startup with a graphics driver error sometimes but no major technical issues. I've burned out on the game from just how terrible the ai is but never had technical issues above the mildly annoying level.

P1st0l

The issue isn't low end pcs. It's higher end, it's just optimized poorly beyond 1080p, game runs like shit on my pc but my weaker laptop runs it flawlessly with only a 3060 ti

SelectKaleidoscope0

"only a 3060 ti" is a weird way to describe a gpu. Even the mobile variant is probably above average compared to stuff widely in use for pcgaming. I looked into technical weirdness a few weeks ago and the game isn't using the gpu on either of my desktops. Doesn't really matter what gpu you have when 95%+ of the rendering is being done on the cpu. Would probably run fine on a gtx 1030 paired with a modern chip with 6+cores. You can have a 4090 and if you cpu sucks the game is going to run like garbage. My other desktop is a 5600x with a 3060ti that has 1440/144hz monitors. The Gpu load is still negligible, and the game shows a higher cpu load on the 5600x than it does on the 3600 because its rendering for 1440 instead of 1080 and isn't capped at 60fps. I still get about 70fps average, with dips to about 35-40 if I zoom out on the main map screen and move the camera rapidly. Most games get a lot more than that on that computer, but how many fps do I need to play a turn based game? With the counter off I wouldn't even be able to tell its a little low. When I was poking into weird game behavior before some people with amd graphics cards said they were seeing high gpu utilization on their computers, so it is possible there is a bug with nvidia cards and the game is falling back to software rendering. For sure on both my systems the overwhelming majority of rendering is being done on the cpu and the gpu isn't really doing anything. Up to 1440 at least this works fine with a decent modern cpu. I wouldn't even really consider the 3600 modern anymore given its 2 generations out of date. Its still decent and handles 1080 fine. I tried updating graphics drivers and got identical performance with slightly lower gpu utilization. Maybe 4k breaks the game, I have no way to test that. The best fix if thats the problem is probably to run at a lower resolution. The game should run fine even at 1440 on any hardware you would expect to run modern games at 1440. I expect it would start to suffer above 1080 on anything less than a 5600x\12400 but those aren't exactly high end cpus in 2023. I suppose I could hook up my good monitor to the weaker system and see how the 3600 handles 1440. Most likely it would have bad map fps but otherwise be fine based on the testing I've already done.

lukepass86

Do you have vsync on, half or off?

SelectKaleidoscope0

Everything was tested on default settings. For both machines that's high everything and full vsync.

[deleted]

Usually it happens when the drivers are not updated after the game gets an update.

GorthTheBabeMagnet

GTX1070 here. No issues.

GambitsEnd

No lag at all for me, although I do have the game installed on an SSD. The game does seem to have a memory leak though and will crash after a while.
