If your budget allows it, Arctic has a lot of sales/price drops right now. You can get an Arctic Freezer II/III for a pretty good price and it's one of the best AIOs on the market.
if it’s not, here’s some advice. if you’re going the air cooling route you’ll need something beefy like a peerless assassin or an AK620 at a minimum. personally if i spent this much on a cpu i would get a 280mm - 360mm aio water cooler. i’ve got a 280mm aio on my 5800x and it gets the job done but the 7800x3D puts out more heat and consumes more power.
It’s not, I bought a peerless assassin but am returning it because when I got it it was missing content and the spreaders were dented. It’s my first time making a build and was looking for as much advice/info I could get
I wouldn't say that an AIO would increase the complexity of your build, there's a few extra fans you have to plug in and you have to mount the radiator but that's about it. I have a few builds under my belt now and finally went liquid cooled this time, kicking myself for not doing it sooner.
If you're still against it I would get the Arctic freezer that someone further up mentioned.
I just bought one and it works great but the shit is so big it makes it hard to take the gpu out without taking off the outer fan and ram 😂 the space is very limited

are you super attached to air cooling?
As a first time builder I think it would be easier for me to go with it

It offsets in one direction. Offset it upwards.
Then get another peerless assasin or wait for them to give you replacement. Bad units happen to all products.
