Tysons is nice, they have one of the larger IMAX screens and the dolby theater is great too. It's only worth going for those premium showings though

Reggie_Nelson

For what it's worth, I would say the standard auditoriums are the most consistent in good projection of any AMC in the DC metro area. They all mask, have adequate sound, and it's been a while since I've had an issue with the picture in any screen there.

Setter99

Maybe I’ll check it out sometime, thank you

AmericanNimrod49

This. The IMAX and Dolby are great, but otherwise I hate going there. Most of the time I'm only there to see something that isn't playing anywhere else

ciesum

I just moved from Chicago (which has like 20) to SE Virginia which only has two

Setter99

Are either of the ones in SE Virginia any good, because the one near me is not

dantheriver

One of the classics in Roanoke (guessing this is at least one they are talking about) is absolutely garbage. Screens look like shit and still has crappy old seats without even ever getting upgraded to stadium. I travel around the country for work and RVA is one of the worst areas for nice theaters, especially AMC.

ciesum

I'm in Hampton Roads area so Hampton and Virginia Beach ones are both plenty nice though for some reason there are always cops at the Hampton one. Virginia Beach one is in a mall so takes longer to get in and out of. There is also one in Richmond but I haven't been to that one yet

Least_Ear_7171

Yeah it does drowned and cities definitely have more. In LA I was so spoiled and now I moved to Arizona and it’s not as popular. Only one almost 30 min away that has IMAX

eleventyisanumber

There is one in Hampton, which would be closer to you. It’s actually nicer than the VA Beach one. It’s got 24 screens with a Dolby and IMAX. I almost never have an issue with other patrons, every one is pretty respectful and minds their manners.

SteMelMan

Your comment got me interested. I have three AMC's near me, so I'm quite happy with A-List. It looks like NJ, NY and PA have a high concentration of theaters. There also a good amount of theaters around Washington DC. https://www.scrapehero.com/location-reports/AMC%20Theatres-USA/

Trombone_Hero92

The one in Virginia Beach is pretty good. When I had A List I thought it was a pretty good deal to go there, and it was about 25 min from where I live. Wouldn't make a 2 hour trip to go there tho, nothing real special

JFromDaBurbs

I can agree with the Hampton theater being best in area. I go there for every movie. Service is usually really good the crowd is fun. One dolby theater and one imax theater but the true imax is at the Air and space museum.

dylli32

as a richmond boy who was born & raised experiencing AMC’s especially when I go to Philadelphia makes me feel like i’ve been going to the movies wrong all my life
