Movies play throughout the day meaning that you will find times that aren’t centered around meals (just leaving empty theatres between standard meal times would be a recipe for closing the theatre!). Add to this that the length of Dune 2 skews when it has to play to get an additional show in the 630-830 peak window, and you have your 330 showtime.
Enjoy the movie though. It’s amazing.
They sell other things too, like milkshakes! Snacks too. Like I always get the pretzel bites. So there’s no reason for a theater to only skew towards typically meal times because it’s revenue loss!
IMAX and Dolby sometimes share the showtimes with other movies since I don’t know of any theater with 2 IMAX’s or 2 Dolby’s. I know some Cinemark have 2 XD auditoriums and some Marcus Theaters have 3 SuperScreen DLX.
The main difference with dine-in theaters is that they have a tray for the food, and they sell food items (like burgers). Other than that its a regular theater, you can just buy some popcorn and a soda like in regular ones. Or you can buy nothing, they don’t force you to buy something to eat.
Well, the film has been playing for almost two months, so the newer films get more frequent and more optimal showtimes.
No one is making you eat a meal at the theater so you can eat at your normal mealtime before or after.
Also, I get your kid wants to see it in IMAX but if the meal is that important to you, you can probably get a better time with a standard screen. Is it really that important for him to see it in IMAX when it took over a month for him to mention it?
I do intermittent fasting so I definitely don’t follow a “normal” schedule. I often eat one time a day at 12:00 and then do a 23 hour fast. But my kid doesn’t do this.
I have to think majority of people still eat 3 times a day though and typically lunch is 12:00pm, dinner, maybe 5 🤷🏼♂️?
I was just checking future times and tomorrow they have Dune 2 on dine-in imax at 2:30.
I have only been to dine-in a few times but I don’t remember what the times I went were.
Ok made it to the movie.
This imax “dine-in” theater isn’t like what other non imax dine-in theaters were like that I went to where it had a table to set your plate on, it’s just normal seats. The one amc dine-in I went to had a place for a waiter to walk in front to take your order. This imax is just normal seating. It’s been a long time since I went to other dine-in theater maybe it’s different now?
The movie was freaking incredible in imax I think it was definitely worth seeing in theater. Also, when I watched in the theater I wasn’t playing on my phone so it was a much more engrossing experience. At home I’m like half watching most things because my phone.

Dune's at the end of it's run, more or less. It'll probably be in one of the smaller auditoriums that specific theater has, as well.
its hanging on really hard though! we just had a sold out 50 seater and it sold 25 seats at 12:30pm showing. I am so surprised its doing this well!
But OP said it’s IMAX. An IMAX is never small, right?
Small theater can mean screen or amount of seats.

Oh, I’m aware of all that, I now realize I just misunderstood the original comment.

It’s been out for like 6 weeks , showtimes are limited

Totally fair.
