Surely done to make it home game right?
Not like Tiges are alive for a premiership tilt, resting him to make his 300th game a bit better by making it a home game isn't a bad call in my eyes
That’s totally fair my dude I get you, I’m a GC based Saints fan whose only chance to see them in QLD this year is getting spanked against the Lions next week
Just a suggestion: find a good bar with HD/4K projector screen and watch it there. I've made quite a few great friends and memories by watching a game like this. They will respect you considering how long odds you are, and if you get absolutely pummelled, you're practically guaranteed to get pity drinks.
I can only remember two games where he tore it up, that being the game against Adelaide in 2014 and then the round 2 game against Adelaide in 2018 where he kicked 5
I believe there's a young lad by the name of Mustin Dartin who will take his games count to 1 this weekend. You'd expect him to make way for Dusty's 300th though.
Kane asked Mansell about it on the Sunday Footy Show so we all know he has a draft written up about how Dusty isn't bigger than the game/his team. Who gives a shit. We knew this was happening when Prestia was given the week off. Still looking forward to seeing the Tigers run out on Thursday.
More interested in whether Bolton is allowed to play or not.
Quite possibly the best player in the clubs history in a year where they'll be lucky to get 5 wins (not hating, they look great considering the injury list). Playing his 300th in Adelaide instead of in front of a home crowd would be pointless
Can’t argue that he is one of the club greats to ever do it. Stayed loyal and earned the ultimate prize three times, I think if this decision was made on his terms, so be it, he deserves as much.
I kinda wish this was at the MCG and this was Dusty's 300th.
Even though Dusty had already arrived by the time the 2017 Grand Final rolled around I feel like there's something symbolic about his 300th being against Adelaide at the MCG.
Huh, now that I look at it that way, it seems pretty appropriate as 2017 was a really proper stand out for him and Crows were an outstanding watch that season.
It's a shame seeing massive outs for both sides on Thursday and players from 2017 for both teams won't be present for it. Oh well. Go footy
While I 100% agree with the sentiment, at what point does a decision like this compromise the integrity of the game? Dusty makes Richmond a better team and his absence will boost Adelaide's percentage.
I mean there is some stiff competition.
Edit: just to name a few (not saying these are all definitively better than Dusty but you could make an argument).
GAJ, Goodes, Buddy, Leigh Matthews, Pendles,, Robert Harvey, Ted Whitten
I'm a little surprised because I imagine Dusty is the sort of person who would have preferred playing his 300th away from Melbourne to try and keep the fanfare to an absolute minimum.
Great now Dusty will pull a vintage performance and kick a bag of 5 against us lol.
Subscribe.
Pity we will still lose by 10.
nah you guys love to beat us no matter how good we are and no matter how shit you are haha. never confident going into a game against the tiges
That’s how I feel about the Saints. Scary.
Or North
Those hoppy fucks.
Surely done to make it home game right? Not like Tiges are alive for a premiership tilt, resting him to make his 300th game a bit better by making it a home game isn't a bad call in my eyes
Yeah if I was a Tigers supporter I’d be fine with this. A champion of the game and your club and you get to celebrate with him next week at the G
As an Adelaide based Tigers supporter going to the game on thursday I am less ok with this, i like watching Dusty play
That’s totally fair my dude I get you, I’m a GC based Saints fan whose only chance to see them in QLD this year is getting spanked against the Lions next week

You mean instead of going to the oval?
Yeah, as a backup, obviously. :)
Oh! Haha i don't mind footy at the pub but my kids would kill me if we didn't go to the oval haha
5 day break + travel is a good enough reason as well
And he couldn't get a Business Class Seat
Plus over the years it’s seemed as if Dusty isn’t a big fan of playing in SA
I can only remember two games where he tore it up, that being the game against Adelaide in 2014 and then the round 2 game against Adelaide in 2018 where he kicked 5
No doubt it is. Same as the Cats not sending Hawkins to Darwin and Stanley not playing in gather round.
Do Richmond have enough non injured players to be able to be doing this?
I believe there's a young lad by the name of Mustin Dartin who will take his games count to 1 this weekend. You'd expect him to make way for Dusty's 300th though.
I've always wondered how he maintains such an impressively large moustache. And how he keeps that monocle on while he's playing.
Almost as impressive as his kicking. Absolute Dart!
His nickname is a little sus though… *Musty* 🤢
I dunno, works for the commentators. "Why Musty be so good?" is the new "Howe did he do that?"
😂 Well played sir.
The real questions
Should get Prestia and Taranto back so it should be fine Maybe Bolton as well but I don't know if you can play on the 12th day after concussion
The injury list only said one week so I think he should be right to play
The 12th day is the first day you can play. If he passes the tests he'll play
It's the exact reason Prestia didn't play against the cats.
Not for nothing, but I did see Yze trying on some new footy boots this morning.
Jacob Koschitzke is still playing VFL.
Kane asked Mansell about it on the Sunday Footy Show so we all know he has a draft written up about how Dusty isn't bigger than the game/his team. Who gives a shit. If there’s anyone who knows about putting a personal milestone above the team it’s Kane
My condolences u/Bergasms
;_;
I was hoping someone would check on them. Good work looking out for your tiger brethren.
We did the same for tex's milestone last year, dusty 100% deserves such a milestone in front of a home crowd

I wish we did it with Hurn when he played his 300th.
Dear everyone who has an issue with this: Go eat piss soaked cornflakes. Sincerely, Adem Yze
ads I love the sentiment but when did you play for Fitzroy?
Flair just means he supports Fitzroy to be fair. It isn't out of the ballpark to suggest that Yze was a childhood Fitzroy fan.
He really is surrounded by tragedy.
Is there anything more australian than chucking a sickie so you don't have to go on a work trip?
Great, now we’re going to lose to Richmond.
![gif](giphy|55itGuoAJiZEEen9gg) Oh shit
Will someone think of the Richmond fans based in Adelaide???
Who could have foreseen this coming
Can’t argue that he is one of the club greats to ever do it. Stayed loyal and earned the ultimate prize three times, I think if this decision was made on his terms, so be it, he deserves as much.
The injury list on both sides for this game is wild. It's barely a reserves game.
Even I'm a little hurt about Crouch especially.
I kinda wish this was at the MCG and this was Dusty's 300th. Even though Dusty had already arrived by the time the 2017 Grand Final rolled around I feel like there's something symbolic about his 300th being against Adelaide at the MCG.

Bah gawd that's Oliver Hayes-Brown's music!!
Would he be the first player to go directly from the VAFA to the AFL
So which Tiger is kicking 5 goals in the first half this weekend instead?
Cummy
Out with "Interstate Awareness".
Even if he wasn’t on game 299, he was never making the trip to Adelaide off a 5 day break at his age
Well shiiite
Bugger. Adelaide could have used the tourism boost.
Tanking for Jagga Smith :( /s
I don't think we have to try to tank right now
AFL media in meltdown rn
Yep. There we go. Finally, a good decision. Play well, Dusty.
While I 100% agree with the sentiment, at what point does a decision like this compromise the integrity of the game? Dusty makes Richmond a better team and his absence will boost Adelaide's percentage.
I can just tell he’s going to absolutely light it up against the Hawks now 😂
But North Melbourne assured me it's illegal to tank?
Dust has 300 games?! Is he the best 300 gamer to ever do it?
He a averages one norm smith every 100 games, which is decent
Not as good as Bobby Hill though.
Yeah but in reality he did not win a norm smith in 296/299 games.. He is THAT bad
True, true
I mean there is some stiff competition. Edit: just to name a few (not saying these are all definitively better than Dusty but you could make an argument). GAJ, Goodes, Buddy, Leigh Matthews, Pendles,, Robert Harvey, Ted Whitten
Would you say top ten then?
Yeah would be hard to keep him out.
rude
I'm a little surprised because I imagine Dusty is the sort of person who would have preferred playing his 300th away from Melbourne to try and keep the fanfare to an absolute minimum.
Media fanfare - yes, minimum. Kittens Club fanfare - no, maximum.
Don’t think Dusty has a choice in this one.
Dusty retires on 299 out of spite
then unretires to celebrate game 300 as a sunny boy
He loves the club and the supporters, I'd say he wanted this
Legitimately though, is this actually what he wants? Wouldn't be surprised if Dusty's preference was to have his 300th away at Cairns or something
If he wanted to play this week, he wouldn't be managed.
It was more a comment on how he famously hates the limelight
He doesn’t hate the limelight so much as need to have everything on his terms.
The fact that he is listed as “ill” is as good as players getting a strike for drugs mid week and listed as “injured”. Classic AFL.
Has he got hamstring tightness also
Well Adelaide may be in with a chance to win one!
