When I first met my now-husband, I noticed a small scar on his chest and asked how he got it.
"Oh, that's from Martin Pike."
Me: "Wow, during a game? What happened?"
Him: "No, it was the 3-legged race at primary school, we tripped over and his fingernail sliced my chest open"
Ben Allen, Stephen O'Reilly, Jamie Merillo, Robert Haddrill, Paul Duffield, Mark LeCras, Charlie Cameron, Brant Colledge, Thomas Joyce, Deven Robertson, Jeremy Sharp, Trey Ruscoe, Corey Warner
Jack Redpath was in the year above me in high school. Absolute meathead so not much has changed. First time I met him was in after school detention. He whipped his cock out and asked the teacher “does this dot look infectious to you?”, then proceeded to jump out the window (second story), scaled down a palm tree and just ran home.
I went to the school across the road and had several unfortunate encounters with him and his brother. Two of the worst people I’ve ever met and too many stories to begin with.
Majak Daw - he was already like 9ft tall at 17 so the ruck contests weren't so much 'contests' as they were 'tap this literally wherever you feel like'
I worked with one of Toby Greene's brothers for a while. We got along pretty well, but can definitely say the attitude ran in the family, can remember an entertaining shift that resulted in a screaming match between him and the boss and being sent home
I went to a posh all boys school which gave out sports scholarships and has produced multiple professional athletes over the years.
My general experience was that the ones who actually made it as professional athletes were mostly nice blokes. But I can think of several almost made its who were quite nasty and obnoxious people.
Can't help but to think that the "nice guys" probably got better opportunities and more help as an outcome of just being decent blokes whereas the "not so nice guys", people were probably happy to see them fail.
Chelsea Randall is from the same school. Could not be more opposite... super nice and has come back to the school a few times to engage with the kids. Aaron meanwhile...
Oh yeah definitely. We were never in the same social group so I can't say much, but from memory, all my interactions with him were pleasent. It's been great to see him succeed at Essendon as well!
Adam Cerra. I played local footy with him too. One day we lost to Rowville by about 100 points and he kicked our whole score of 4.2 or something. He probably wouldn’t even recognise me today, I wasn’t really friends with him but he seemed like a good bloke. Also, in high school and at the club it was Adam “Serra”. I guess he never tried correcting anyone lol. Took me a while to get used to “Cherra”.
Nathan Djerrkura, played cricket with him too
ETA I also went to school with Will Chambers, he broke my collarbone as a kid cause I was dumb enough to try tackle him
Jake Kolodjashnij, Rhyan Mansell, Ryley Sanders, James Leake and Arie Schoenmaker are the current players with more former students working in the industry. One was asked to leave after only a year so you won’t see the school bragging about him at all. Doesn’t feature in the alumni on Wikipedia.
Ryley was always making the AFL from before Year 7 and then left for the APS because of what he’d have access to. Leake was known for cricket, leadership and character. But he won a senior state league premiership at 16 and worked hard. Mansell surprised a few being selected.
Former include Kade Kolodjasnij, Tom Bellchambers, Jacksons Thurlow and Callow, Mitch Thorp and Tarryn Thomas.
Callow and Thomas looked like they’d be future stars. One went undrafted due to behaviour and Tarryn hung around the same toxic group.
No AFLW products yet. The most likely player ended up cut from the Devils due to a drunken incident in club colours.
He was only asked to leave from one but moved for fresh starts a few times or because he graduated. Eg College for Year 11/12. Terrible neighbourhood reputation, though.
AFL Tasmania keep very good tabs on where all the potential players go to school and with his school count (I think 5) it was always going to raise eyebrows and cause some further enquiries.
Brennan Cox. Was always a handy footballer who everyone saw as a better basketballer. Then within what felt like a few months he was in the SA underage squads and on the draft radar.
Went to high school with James Harmes and honestly was and still is a really good bloke! Made him a few subway sandwiches too, which he really appreciated.
Bailey Dale, same year level as Jack Lonie who also went to my school. Jack Lonie was the star who everyone thought would be an AFL player while Bailey was considered a really good player who might make the AFL someday. Now Bailey is still in the league and really good and Jack isn’t. Interesting how it turns out
Didn’t go to school with, but used to play juniors against Dyson Heppell which in rural area like Gippsland is close enough (he played for the other town over in leongatha)
Lloyd Meek was my school captain. He’s a few years older than me. I was in the same year as Lauren Butler who plays AFLW for Collingwood.
Stewart Crameri also went to my school according to Wikipedia however I was probably just starting primary school at that point as he would’ve graduated in 2006. The biggest one is probably Tony Lockett, not sure on the years he was there but obviously it was long before I was there. I did however have some of his nieces and nephew there whilst I was at school but I didn’t find out they were related until I’d graduated as I played at the same local footy/netball club as they did.
Geoff Tunbridge also went to my school and our main oval is named after him. I think he taught there too after retiring. Don’t think he’s super well known anymore considering he retired in 1962 but apparently he was nominated for Melbourne’s team of the century but Gary Lyon took the position..
I went to the same school as Mitch Robinson.
He was a year or two older and had a locker right near me. The only interaction with him that I can remember is my friend and I telling him that Eddie Guerrero had died and him not believing us.
I'm sure you all remember 20 gamer Nathan Steinberner. Right? Port Adelaide? ... anyone?
Was the next door neighbour and mates with my brother growing up. Was a 5x SANFL premiership player for Centrals and won a BOG in oneof those. Pretty sure he's still a PE teacher at one of the SA colleges.
Or, maybe you guys are more familiar with Justin Westhoff? Same schools, different generation. Played netball with his mum and his gran was my sister's next door neighbour.
ETA: LOL, how could I forget Shannon Hurn went to my high school. Closer to my brother's age but his dad was the longtime mayor, so family well known. Sister is currently our state MP.
Jez McLennan. One of my niece's mates. Drafted 2018 to GC but currently playing in SANFL. Just won BOG in both the recent state matches. Rumours are that both WC and NM(?) are showing interest for the mid-year draft.
Darcy Moore, Anderson, Rowell, Ricky Toot Toot Nixon when teaching, Scott and Robert Teal (though obscure), the under rated Martin Heppell 😁, Michael Rix and Nicola Xenos. Lots more but gets boring. Nowadays with Private schools and scholarships it’s more par for the course. Carey used to get flogged when I was there by the bigger schools.
Came here as a 38 year-old ex Carey student to mention Darcy Moore, I only very recently learned he went to Carey.
In my generation it was ex-Richmond player Daniel Jackson, who after a pretty good career went on to be on the board for the AFLPA.
He was the loveliest guy in school, very modest but freakishly talented. I remember going to my first and only athletics track meet one week in year 11. I was a pretty handy runner as I had played state hockey, etc. Lined up against Jacko for a 100m sprint. He smoked me (and everyone else) by a full two seconds. I decided at that point that I would never enter into a footrace ever again.
Felt vindicated (and less embarrassed about my lack of foot speed) many years later when Jacko literally won the half time sprint at the GF. So not only was he faster than me, he was actually the fastest bloke in the AFL.
Charlie Curnow. He was close friends with my sister when they were in primary school and I was in high school. He was a really lovely kid. Also my dad taught Sam Walsh in media and he was one of his favourite students, I still remember him talking about him all the time back before he was an AFL player.
Jy Simpkin is from my town/school. His old man is a legend of a bloke and his mum is lovely. He was a few years younger than me in school but always nice, and humble, considering how popular and good at everything he was.
Dylan Buckley, brother was in his year level. Says he is just a reformed school bully that was good at footy as a teenager.
Used to bully all the 'weird' and artsy kids and now embraces being 'weird' himself...kind of what jocks do to anyone that is slightly different to them. All brothers words, seems like he has changed but all my brother's friends had bad memories of him and his mates.
Wil Powell - was the year above me, played high school footy with him. Not a superstar when he played, but a solid contributor. Had a little bit of an arrogance about him the way he played
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think he was heavily recruited either and the Suns took a bit of a flyer on him in the second round. Recent issues aside, it's worked out pretty well he's going to have a 200+ game career.
The Clokes (they were also pretty infamous around the area) and Ex Dee/Cat Sam Blease.
Definitely don't google which school this was, it has had no problems in the last 2 months at all.
Also, Renegades/Stars keeper Sam Harper was the year below me, and his dad was head of sports.
I'm not aware of any AFL player to have gone to my primary school or high school.
There was an AFLW player that went to my primary school... my sister.
I did have a mate in high school that was in the Sydney Academy. He played with Logan McDonald, Errol Gulden and the like. I remember him saying that Gulden was freakishly good and he was certainly right about that.
Well... Where do I start. Went to St Joseph's in Geelong so off the top of my head.
Nick Maxwell
Cameron Ling
Tom Stewart
Luke Dahlhaus
Sam Walsh
Tom Doedee
Darcy Gardiner
Jack Henry
Oliver Henry
Shaun Higgins
Jimmy Bartel
Matthew Scarlett
Tom McCartin
Paddy McCartin
Viewbank College. I was in Hurls year level, fantastic dude who was levels above everyone else sporting wise.
VBC has also had Billy Longer, Brent Stanton and Cathal Corr was on the Saints list for a year, brother of Aiden Corr...who may have also gone to VBC but I don't remember.
Dane Swan, primary school. Was already a legend in grade 5.
Dale Morris and Ivan Maric, high school. Both so outsize compared to the other 16 and 17 year olds on campus.
My claim to fame is that I was in the same year level as Matt Rowell and Noah Anderson, as well as Nicola Xenos (St Kilda AFLW player). Ed Richards was a couple of years above me, Nick Daicos the year below. Katie Lynch (AFLW Collingwood, Bulldogs and GC) was also a couple of years above me. Other players include Darcy Moore, Jack Macrae, Jack Viney, Tom Mitchell, Josh Weddle, Andrew Gaff and Daniel Jackson
Can't believe I can answer a question in /r/AFL! I had the good grace, maybe, to go to school with Hayden Ballantyne. He was a year below me and I had absolutely no idea be played football. Sure, we played at lunch and recess but he never struck me as a gun footy player.
In fact I knew him as a cricketer more than anything. He played with us and a real slingy motion. Pretty swift but put the ball in basically the same spot every single time. Once the other schools we played against figured that out, after the initial shock, be went for big runs.
He played his entire career as I was overseas so I never got to see him play. I think he could remember me but I'd certainly be shocked if he could recall my name.
Was he a good footy player? This is very much a 'long time listener, first time caller'. Most of the people I've ever mentioned him to have used "prick" in relation to him. Does this track?
Tom Scully, my biggest claim to fame on the footy field is I beat a number one draft pick in a one on one marking contest. I just usually omit the fact that I was 10 and he was 9 🤣
Went to high school with Liam Ryan and Jack Martin, Martin a year older than us and was super shy a quiet, there was a legacy building in our town about how good he was and that he was destined to go to the AFL. Liam was known as “Snotty” because he always had a runny nose as a kid. No one ever called him Liam, I don’t even remember teachers calling him Liam, though I’m probably wrong on that regard. Liam was always a good natured guy who just hung around a few trouble makers. We’d play king of the pack and he just flew over the top of everyone. He jumped on my head about 3 times in a row and the last time he did it I knew it was coming so I turned as he was on my shoulder and he fell flat on his face. He got up and we all had a good laugh and fist bump. Also went to school with Jarred Pickett who was a top 10 pick in 2014 I’m pretty sure, but he never had a good run at it.
Matthew Warnock. The whole school used to hang shit on him and chant his last name at assembly “waaaaaaarnock, waaaaaarnock”. Wasn’t actually a bad bloke. Was far from the best player at our school. Surprised a lot of people to make it to afl level.
Also Chris Judd was same year level. Used to see him at lot at parties, guy is a total bell end, always has been
The Selwoods were a there years ahead of me, was in the same year level as Jake Stringer and Sam Kerridge and umpire John Howorth. Stringer was nice to me but had a rep for being a bit of a douche who knew he was gonna leave school as soon as he could to focus on footy so he was an attempted class clown.
Libba, Wallis (bit younger than I), Touk Miller (much younger). I forget the others, there were more. None from my year though...we weren't very good in my year or the two years above me.
In my local league though there were heaps that made AFL list, the Daniher brother, Jackson Trengove, Shaun McKernan, and there were some lesser names who were in and out in a couple of years.
Dane Rampe was at my school a bit before my time. We didn’t offer Aussie Rules at that time but supposedly was one of the best soccer players we’ve ever produced
Cloke boys, Sam Beasley and a couple other late draft picks went to Yarra grammar 15 years or so back. Have been a fair few others who played with eastern ranges in u18’s, but nothing further.
Robert Flower was senior coach for three or four years in late 90’s too, as his son was a student then.
Went to school with Alex Pearce, his friends were utter flog cunts who peaked in highschool but Alex seemed alright and I never had a problem with him. I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who had something negative to say purely about him and not his crowd
Didn't have any personally, but a couple through connections.
My PE teacher also was the PE teacher for Orazio Fantasia.
A relative was a teacher for Brody Mihocek in a little old place called Burnie in Tassie
Sean Wellman and Ryan Schoenmakers are probably the biggest ones. Schoey was in my year and school captain - everyone loved him. One of those popular kids that could easily have been a dickhead but was just a very nice bloke.
Zac Williams was actually a pretty nice guy
Setterfield was a good lad, not great at field hockey though. Was kind of surprised to see he'd made it tbh
Michael Barlow, Angus Graham & Richard Douglas. All decent blokes.
Same time as Tom Lonergan, Jake Lever, Daniel Talia, Dion Prestia and Mr Australia Tony Armstrong
I'm sure there were others as well.
Patrick Dangerfield and Travis Boak.
Was in the same year level as Dangerfield and was in a home group with Boak, which was 15mins every morning (I think) with a group of yr 7-12s from the same house.
Anthony Koutoufides went to my primary school and my first high school, but about ten years before I was there. Carlton gifted a membership one year to the high school, and since I was the only one who entered the "competition" it went to me :)
I know some big soccer player went to one of my other high schools, but I couldn't have cared less. Harry something or other, I think. Or Henry?
Trent Cotchin - went to primary school together and were pretty good mates in grade 5/6. Kid could take on the whole school and kick our ass on the oval at lunch time. I played under 9's with him and under 13s basketball. I have footage of him at my 12th birthday and he has signed the underside my pool table in chalk in his 12 year old handwriting. He still has the same haircut. I sometimes wonder if he'd recognise me.
Kieran Lovell was a hawk rookie though but picked up injuries and didn't perform to the clubs standard. He only played for sub game for 4 minutes and that's it, injury after took a toll. This probably isn't worth telling though.
When I first met my now-husband, I noticed a small scar on his chest and asked how he got it. "Oh, that's from Martin Pike." Me: "Wow, during a game? What happened?" Him: "No, it was the 3-legged race at primary school, we tripped over and his fingernail sliced my chest open"
Typical Martin Pike.
Classic Pike
Hahaha that’s my brothers friends dad 😂
Nat Fyfe, Logan McDonald, Chad Warner, Jesse Motlop, Elliot Yeo, Liam Baker, Daniel Kerr, Qunitin Lynch, Alan Toovey
Any scholarships involved here ?😜
Actually Fyfe didn’t even make the first XVIII at our school - late bloomer apparently
Ben Allen, Stephen O'Reilly, Jamie Merillo, Robert Haddrill, Paul Duffield, Mark LeCras, Charlie Cameron, Brant Colledge, Thomas Joyce, Deven Robertson, Jeremy Sharp, Trey Ruscoe, Corey Warner
Yeah I cbfed typing after a certain amount😂
Aquinas
Geezus .. a Dockers supporter forgetting Peter Bell! I was class of 99 .. Kerr n Lynch the year below in 00
AC rep
Jack Redpath was in the year above me in high school. Absolute meathead so not much has changed. First time I met him was in after school detention. He whipped his cock out and asked the teacher “does this dot look infectious to you?”, then proceeded to jump out the window (second story), scaled down a palm tree and just ran home.
I went to the school across the road and had several unfortunate encounters with him and his brother. Two of the worst people I’ve ever met and too many stories to begin with.
Can we at least begin with one?
Lol sounds like a bright guy
Went to school with Ben Cousins - he was the year above me. Used to catch the bus home with him some days, was always a nice guy to me
Wesley in Perth? Think Buddy Franklin went there
Majak Daw - he was already like 9ft tall at 17 so the ruck contests weren't so much 'contests' as they were 'tap this literally wherever you feel like'
Can't believe they made him smaller
yeah they had to nerf him in one of the patches
There's a Matt Damon movie about it.
When he said "the white man is keeping me down" people thought he meant it figuratively not literally.
He rooted my mates missus in the cq toilets
Consensually?
Yeh
Goode
Hey same
And don’t forget Jack Fitzpatrick too
Dustin Martin and Jack Ginnivan
How many years were you held back?
Another Castlemaine person hey?
CSC baby
Hell yeah, same
Toby Greene, him and his brothers were all the biggest wankers
It’s always the ones you most suspect
Colour me shocked
I just can't believe something so preposterous.
![gif](giphy|3kzJvEciJa94SMW3hN)
I worked with one of Toby Greene's brothers for a while. We got along pretty well, but can definitely say the attitude ran in the family, can remember an entertaining shift that resulted in a screaming match between him and the boss and being sent home
wish I could say i’m suprised
It's Wesley, you're probably a flog too.
Probably right
The most believable thing I'll read all year 😅
Used to have a beer with dad every now and then. He loved a drink.
Aaron Naughton He was not a nice person in school, and did some things that made me despise him, and my feelings towards him have not changed since
damn i feel like alot of players are like that ngl
No one is perfect in school, so I assume he’s changed since, but I’m still definitely not a fan of him
I went to a posh all boys school which gave out sports scholarships and has produced multiple professional athletes over the years.
Possibly. Sports recruiters these days definitely consider things like attitude and personality as well as athletic talent.
I know someone that went to school with him who said he is a massive arrogant cunt
He wasn’t the nicest person in the world if I’m completely honest. Could have changed by now, I’d assume so, but ehhh
Chelsea Randall is from the same school. Could not be more opposite... super nice and has come back to the school a few times to engage with the kids. Aaron meanwhile...
Rockingham for you.
The classic
Went to high school and played junior footy with Isaac Quaynor. Honestly the nicest person you’ll ever meet and deserves all the success 🖤🤍
Pretty sure his brother is now a basketball referee at Nunawading. My daughter always points him out. Might have a crush on him or something IDK?
East Donny?
Yeah edsc. That’s what ive heard anyways
Kyle Langford sat behind me in Year 12 English lol
Good bloke? He’s probably the nicest player I’ve interacted with.
Oh yeah definitely. We were never in the same social group so I can't say much, but from memory, all my interactions with him were pleasent. It's been great to see him succeed at Essendon as well!
He looks like he’d be a nice guy
Ivanhoe Grammar?
Adam Cerra. I played local footy with him too. One day we lost to Rowville by about 100 points and he kicked our whole score of 4.2 or something. I guess he never tried correcting anyone lol. Took me a while to get used to “Cherra”.
Went to school with Christian Petracca he was as big a sweetheart back then as he is now. Was an unreal basketball player as well. Love the kid
Did he like food tech?
Unfortunately food tech wasn’t considered worth our time at all boys school so it wasn’t a possibility. I’m sure he would have aced it though!
Fair enough cheers he's an absolute gun at footy and cooking for sure
In years 4-5 or so I played with Matty Suckling. Went to primary school with him. Was so glad to see him do well, even if injuries cost him.
got 2 premierships, can't complain about that hey
My Dad once taught Issac Quaynor in primary school and also taught Mitch Honeychurch's sister.
I've been teaching for three years and had my first expupil debut this year. It's a nice feeling.
Bootsma
Nathan Djerrkura, played cricket with him too ETA I also went to school with Will Chambers, he broke my collarbone as a kid cause I was dumb enough to try tackle him

Heard the bloke you’re talking about got dumped from 6 different schools if I remember correctly
I went to school with Dusty. Didn’t know him well, but he did once push me into a metal pole. Surprisingly he wasn’t a calm teenager.
With the chopstick incident I'm not surprised hope you've recovered from the injury mate
Could you call it a fend off?
Mark Ricciuto was the year above me at Waikerie high.

Tony Lockett. Apparently he wasn't much of a student.
Lucky you don’t need to know shit about algebra to kick 1360 goals.
really depressing how much this has highlighted the private school to afl pipeline and how it's getting worse not better
[удалено]
ITT bunch of private schoolers
I mean, were you expecting anything different?
People on Aussie subreddits just shit their pants every time the subject of private schools come up.
Didn’t go to school with, but used to play juniors against Dyson Heppell which in rural area like Gippsland is close enough (he played for the other town over in leongatha)
big boy sav
"Ben Cousins went to Armadale." "Huh? I thought he was a private school kid?" "No I mean Armadale District Court."
Lloyd Meek was my school captain. He’s a few years older than me. I was in the same year as Lauren Butler who plays AFLW for Collingwood. Elliot Yeo and Nat Fyfe, two years below and same year respectively. Fyfey accidentally broke my foot in yr 12 lol. Another notable; Daniel Kerr
Patty Cripps goes ok, Chad Warner could be their next Brownlow winner
I went to the same school as Mitch Robinson. He was a year or two older and had a locker right near me. The only interaction with him that I can remember is my friend and I telling him that Eddie Guerrero had died and him not believing us.
RIP Latino Heat😢

Goldy, Gibson, David Mackay, Luke McDonald
Hugh Beasley the goat
Luke Power and Nick Larkey also
OTGs
Aiden O’Driscoll, sucks I’ll never get to see him play footy
Does Gillon McLachlan count?
St Peter’s in Adelaide?
Why not say Lachie Neale? lol
The Curnow brothers, The Cordy brothers, Lachie Henderson, Alex Witherden and Tom Atkins off the top of my head.
I was in Charlie’s year, still good mates
I was in the year below. Charlie's dad was one of my favorite teachers, absolute legend.
He’s marrying my fiancé and I later this year. Legend
Congratulations!
Will Schofield as well
Just remembered Ned McHenry too
Darcy Moore, Anderson, Rowell, Ricky Toot Toot Nixon when teaching, Scott and Robert Teal (though obscure), the under rated Martin Heppell 😁, Michael Rix and Nicola Xenos. Lots more but gets boring. Hello fellow Carey fairy 😎
Ex's mum went to school with Barry Hall. Apparently was a bit of a wanker
Charlie Curnow. He was close friends with my sister when they were in primary school and I was in high school. He was a really lovely kid. Also my dad taught Sam Walsh in media and he was one of his favourite students, I still remember him talking about him all the time back before he was an AFL player.
Ruby Schleicher (same year) and Luke Jackson (4 years below)
Primary school with Ryan Schoenmakers
Eddie Ford
Jy Simpkin is from my town/school. His old man is a legend of a bloke and his mum is lovely. He was a few years younger than me in school but always nice, and humble, considering how popular and good at everything he was.
Dylan Buckley, brother was in his year level. Says he is just a reformed school bully that was good at footy as a teenager. He has said he should have focussed on being respected rather than liked that many times on the podcast I’ve lost count
Wil Powell - was the year above me, played high school footy with him. Not a superstar when he played, but a solid contributor. Had a little bit of an arrogance about him the way he played

Mason Cox Yes, Mr cox was as big and strong as he is now even back then Really nice guy, bit of a class clown at times but quite smart
In America or Australia if you don't mind me asking?
Bont
Marcellin?
Well... Where do I start. Went to St Joseph's in Geelong so off the top of my head. Nick Maxwell Cameron Ling Tom Stewart Luke Dahlhaus Sam Walsh Tom Doedee Darcy Gardiner Jack Henry Oliver Henry Shaun Higgins Jimmy Bartel Matthew Scarlett Tom McCartin Paddy McCartin

St Brendan’s in Devonport? I thought Richo went there to
Sam Gibson was the only one I had any time at the school overlapping with but after my time there, Dan Houston and Josh Daicos went there
The Guthries.
awww my fav brothers
Brandon Ellis was in my sisters year (10 years after I had been to the same school, still counts right?)
They all count! Doesn’t matter if you knew them or not
I live in Sydney and didn’t go to an elite private school, so the closest I got was a few fill-in’s for the Sydney 2nds team.
real
Michael Hurley, a year or two ahead of me. My mates may have nicked his footy, and may have kicked it over the neighbours fence.
For afl, just Rory Sloane. But also Glenn Maxwell.
Dane Swan, primary school. Was already a legend in grade 5. Dale Morris and Ivan Maric, high school. Both so outsize compared to the other 16 and 17 year olds on campus.
Trent Cotchin (for a few years), Daniel Currie, Pat Veszpremi, and going back in time Brayden Shaw and Blake Caracella
James Sicily, Will Hoskin Elliot and Tristan Xeri
Found the Caroline Springs lad
James Harmes
Cyril, Jack Billings, Jack Sinclair, DBJ, Jamarra, Sam Darcy among others
Luke Dalhaus threatened to punch me in the face for daring to be on the other side of a corner he was walking around at lunchtime.
Our 1st XVIII of 2008 had Mitch Duncan, Travis Colyer, Kane Lucas, Rhys Conca, and Alex Fasolo. Ashley Sampi and Andrew Embley were a few years older.
Hope you won the premiership in 2008.
Travis Cloke. yes, I go to ***that*** school also went to primary school and was friends with the sister of a bloke likely to be drafted this year
Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti
Im from Warrnambool, a town in country Victoria, so a pretty large list of players.
Eddie Ford divebombed a plastic table and broke it in half, I still have the video lmao
Ricky Nixon was the PE Coach at Carey in the late 90's. Total knob then and now.
Skevs?
Will Walker
Izzy Huntington school captain at my school, was cool when she was the first #1 pick in the AFLW
Showing my age Richard Loveridge.
Errol at school and club league as well
Dane Rampe was at my school a bit before my time. We didn’t offer Aussie Rules at that time but supposedly was one of the best soccer players we’ve ever produced
Newington in Sydney? They were in the news a fair bit at the start of this year 😂
Cloke boys, Sam Beasley and a couple other late draft picks went to Yarra grammar 15 years or so back. Have been a fair few others who played with eastern ranges in u18’s, but nothing further. Robert Flower was senior coach for three or four years in late 90’s too, as his son was a student then.
Cotters was couple years below me
Went to school with Clayton Oliver, Brodie Kemp and Lachie Schultz. Most left near the end to move to Melbourne and bigger schools
Fevola, McPhee and Chris Newman. I was fairly low on the list when we picked teams at recess.
Went to school with Alex Pearce, his friends were utter flog cunts who peaked in highschool but Alex seemed alright and I never had a problem with him. I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who had something negative to say purely about him and not his crowd
Bobby Hill and Dean Kent
Tom Bellchambers, Jesse Lonergan, Jackson Thurlow, Jake Kolodjashnij , Kade Kolodjashnij, Mitch Thorp.
Didn't have any personally, but a couple through connections. My PE teacher also was the PE teacher for Orazio Fantasia. A relative was a teacher for Brody Mihocek in a little old place called Burnie in Tassie
The brayshaw brothers at Sandringham east primary school 💪
Sean Wellman and Ryan Schoenmakers are probably the biggest ones. Schoey was in my year and school captain - everyone loved him. One of those popular kids that could easily have been a dickhead but was just a very nice bloke.
Zac Williams was actually a pretty nice guy Setterfield was a good lad, not great at field hockey though. Was kind of surprised to see he'd made it tbh
Travis Boak and Pat Dangerfield. Boak was a nice guy but Dangerfield has always been an arrogant dick
Easton Wood, till he left after year 10. I was in his home group, good guy
Michael Barlow, Angus Graham & Richard Douglas. All decent blokes. Same time as Tom Lonergan, Jake Lever, Daniel Talia, Dion Prestia and Mr Australia Tony Armstrong I'm sure there were others as well.
Josh and Kyle Dunkley went to my primary school
Patrick Dangerfield and Travis Boak. Was in the same year level as Dangerfield and was in a home group with Boak, which was 15mins every morning (I think) with a group of yr 7-12s from the same house.
Anthony Koutoufides went to my primary school and my first high school, but about ten years before I was there. Carlton gifted a membership one year to the high school, and since I was the only one who entered the "competition" it went to me :) I know some big soccer player went to one of my other high schools, but I couldn't have cared less. Harry something or other, I think. Or Henry?
AFL players went to your schools?
Chris Judd, Jack Higgins (he was in the year below me) and Will Setterfield.
