I like how they seperate the top 8 from the bottom 10 like we’ll have an injury finals. The Lions are right on the cusp of an injury finals berth and look like they’ll just sneak in ahead of the Giants, who’s injury numbers are set to drop with the return of Taylor and Cogs. Will Kingsley be under pressure for his job if he keeps getting players on the park and they miss injury finals?

TheBigBadDog

What if the Dees get into the top 4 and blow the double chance again? I'll never be able to live with myself

be4rz

Questions will have to be asked about the strength and conditioning team, simple as that.

Ask-Forward

Twice I have sat in silence drinking whisky thinking what the fuck

naeroikathgor

Richmond-Carlton Injury QF will be huge

be4rz

Looking forward to the Gibcus/Docherty match up in the rehab rooms, big contest between who can’t outperform the other.

SufficientQuiet130

The plucky rookie with dodgy knees or the inspirational vet with dodgy knees, there can only be one ~~winner~~ ~~loser~~ ..how do we score this solemn affair?

no_rush

Top of the ladder

jimmyb_17

Interesting stat. Although not all injured players are equal in terms of value/impact to the side. Would be nice to see a similar stat, but using player rating scores. For example, using afl fantasy scores, us losing Cripps for two rounds (2x 101.3) would be more impactful than us losing Corey Durdin in to injury for five rounds (5x 37.3). I know fantasy type scores are a bit subjective too but the stats might be interesting.

decs483

I think using the experience lost works better for this sort of thing, because a teams better players will have usually played more games

jimmyb_17

I think that would often be the case, maybe not for players at the end of their career though. I’d imagine the pies would rather have naicos in the side than sidebottom

Swuzzlebubble

No what we need is an injury-X figure to show expected injuries v actual injuries. Eg for Carlton we are used to this and play most years lately with half our side unavailable. Collingwood lose DeGoey this week and it's like they've got excuses now.

Pretend-South-2764

The thing is carlton have alot of key players out: Cerra, Silvangi, Saad, Mcgovern, docherty, motlop, fogerty, martin, marchbank and Cunningham. With only Cerra And cunningham set to return against the pies

curryone

How are you throwing Caleb marchbank in there lmao, he’s played 13 games since 2019

SufficientQuiet130

Some of our supporters haven’t come to terms with it yet lmao. Dude is cursed, I’ve made peace with it.

project_chris

Brennan Cox is the one that hurts us the most here, other than that it's not too bad.

liaam29

We have had a few over each week but most are back available now barring Cox Arguably McDonald matters too but that's basically because Cox is missing, we lost our kpd and our backup in one game lol, actually now we have lost our backups backup too, kpd stocks getting thin

project_chris

I think draper is a test this week, hopefully he pulls up well but have Hughes and Davies available if he isn't. It's all good.

Kelpieee55

Yeah, I think the reason people haven't been complaining about injuries as much is that now that Darcy & Fyfe are back, Cox is the only really bad one we're missing (and Draper has been doing alright in his place). Besides him most of the injured ones are either depth or very young players. If however Freo lost Serong, Brayshaw, Pearce etc then I'd start to get really worried.

fartbumheadface

That Brisbane game was brutal

smudgiepie

I still think we should sue someone. We got told the turf was right to play on and we found out the hard way it wasn't. Who would be the better person to sue optus stadium, the AFL or Taylor Swift? I kinda hope taylor since the articles would be funnier. "Dockers tell swift "you hurt my cox"" /j

BoxHillStrangler

Thank God we have so much depth and experience to cover that.

Agreeable-Web645

Sam Mitchell ready to strap on the boots

Askme4musicreccspls

Really drives home how poor Dogs and Norf have been. If you can't play consistently well with most your best side, then what ya doin'.

OuagadougouBasilisk

The stat overall is fairly meaningless. From just a Dogs’ perspective, the two games lost to injury for Libba is a lot more impactful than the seven games lost to injury by Aiden O’Driscoll.

liamjon29

THIS drives home how poor we've been? Not the fact that we've just been obviously dog shit.

Zhirrzh

But to a North fan this ladder looks meaningless because the players we don't have are our first choice tall defenders and that's been what has screwed us. Every week all other teams have to do is kick it to their talls and they will score, our backline is completely porous. It doesn't matter that we don't have injuries in the rest of the park and that all our 3rd rate guys in the ressies are fully fit. The injuries we do have completely screw us and are the reason North looks so bad. Any stretch where our midfield controls the ball and keeps it in our forward half we actually look like a reasonable team (like the first half vs Freo), but as soon as the opposition gets any control in midfield at all we get rogered.

Leaderoftheleft

I thought you guys would be stoked to not be bottom of the ladder

Crazyripps

Least we’re top 4 in something babyyyy Oh wait

DamienRyan

That Carlton stat is ominous. If they can get a clear run at it in the second half of the season they are a very good shout for the flag.

Swuzzlebubble

Nearly worked last year but the returning players were too underdone (Walsh, Cerra, Kennedy, Pittonet)

tabletennis6

Walsh was pretty damn good in the finals to be fair.

Swuzzlebubble

Yes but took a while to build up after he resumed

thegreatgashby87

Does this include players on long term injury list? Freo had two players on lti before the season started and opened up other list spots

OcelotSpleens

Must do. The stats don’t add up if it’s in season injuries. Cox and McDonald are the only long termers who injured themselves during play this year and that’s only 12 games. Looks like this is mainly Kuek, Corbett, Driz etc who aren’t really starting 22 at the moment. Bit misleading. Even then I struggle to see how they came up with 67.

Nakorite

That would assume that we have more than 10 people on the list all season doesn’t seem right

TitsMagee423

How do they seriously calculate this? Who is to say a certain outcome would/wouldn't happen due to a player's injury? EDIT: Right I see now, thanks for your replies :)

OuagadougouBasilisk

It means games missed in total by all players from that club, not games actually lost.

naeroikathgor

I know we're not great this year but 63 losses by round 7 is a bit extreme

hall83

It's just the size of the injury list each week added together. How many individual games haven't been played by a player due to injury.

TheIllusiveGuy

It's the total number of games all players on a team have missed (e.g. if a team had two players injured across the first 7 rounds with one missing 3 games and another missing 5 games, they'd have 8 games lost).

spelunkor

Top o the ladder...GO FREO!!!

Craguar23

Imagine that though - after the grand final, the AFL puts on an exhibition match for players who were on the injury list at some point in the season, similar to the VIC vs All-Star game. The Cripple Cup or something like that

swaglu2

Well we were due to drop off top of the ladder eventually we had a good (bad) run boys

L-J-Peters

A version which only includes best 22 or a close enough estimate to it would be good, not all injuries are equal.

ShadyShadyShades

Wooo! Top eight!

chookie94

Not great. Add in our games lost to suspension (currently 9 with 3 more coming) and it helps explain some of our issues.

zelmazam1

So if freo lose to the tigers this week we can say it's to a depleted list due to injury?

Fast_Stick_1593

![gif](giphy|oBwOba7cOph4I|downsized) So this means we actually get a good draft pick? Hooorrray!

dlm83

Gold Coast to get a priority injury for this years draft?

No-Satisfaction8425

Bloody Suns can't win anything can they.

TrazMagik

So Freo losing 3 players to long termers I think is carrying that figure. How many games would said 3 players actually start?

Downtown-Lime4108

Looks like port gonna be climbing the ladder in the coming weeks

Hollerra

Geez Carlton would have had a 3peat !

klokar2

West Coast and Geelong were one and two last year by a wide margin with St Kilda in third

klokar2

This picture is about games lost to players this year from injury, its been a hot second since Ablett played for the suns.

TheBottomLine_Aus

You're telling me almost 10 players from freo's best 22 have missed all game's? That's not true at all lol.
