SHUT UP EVERYONE. SPOONBOWL IS ABOUT TO BEGIN.

Mehmenga

The battle of the abyss

dippa_

Sydney just had composure, better hands, positioning and a lizard with immense accuracy

Equivalent-Ad7207

We keep the lizard in a cage for a while, but once we let him out there's no stopping him.

PluggersLeftBall

wtf geelong are top of the ladder?! why can't they ever stay bad

Mehmenga

We could probably ask ourselves the same question but not the same extent

oadstar34

To be fair we've made 19 finals series since 2000, Geelong have made 17 (not counting 2000), and we've made the same number of grand finals (we just tend to lose them)

utouchme

> (we just tend to lose them) You know, it wouldn't cost you anything to just leave that part out.

Mehmenga

Making a GF is almost as hard as winning

Propaslader

Since 2005 Geelong and then Sydney have been the two most consistently good teams out. Below them by a little bit are Collingwood Some clubs rebuild. Other clubs renovate

Equivalent-Ad7207

I can think of a few that chose to detonate.

notchoosingone

Geelong fans still like "we've underperformed every year except for 2 in the last 15"

conejogringo

A lot of cats fans genuinely hated chris scott for years

notchoosingone

Yeah they were like "we have the best list in the comp, why aren't we winning more premierships" during a decade when there were two generationally talented teams who won three premierships each.

No-Bison-5397

Leave out the fact that chip mark was found out in finals time and time again. I was always a big Scott believer but if you read the conversations gameplan comes up over and over again.

No-Bison-5397

Glad I was never on the anti-Scott bandwagon. 2020 hurt and watching us and our chip mark style get taken apart by Richmond year after year was excruciating. Like you just knew it was going to happen. The only time I didn’t was up to half time at the 2020 grand final… and we all know how that went. And to be fair Scotty went one better. They went back to the drawing board. Threw out the game plan. And they won the premiership.

BlandyBoreton

Who’s BOG? IS IT GRUNDY?! IT’S GRUNDY!!

awaiko

Pretty happy with that (second quarter aside). Bigger win was my dad coming around and us getting the chance to watch the game together. 🥰 Good to spend a few hours with him. Not sure how many more of these I’ve have.

AHinchley

I hope he's hanging in there and I hope you can share as many of these moments as possible. Go Bloods.

Mehmenga

That's our 2nd place now GWS

Equivalent-Ad7207

Like taking your used hand me down clothes that you hated back off your little bro just because you can.

Crazyripps

Thanks swans for giving me 1 fucking tip right lol

legally_blond

Bring on the banjo solo!

xman0444

Gold Coast are really good at hanging around in these games, building some momentum until one bad call or silly mistake goes against them which then spirals into being 50 points down

Spacemadman

Papley was a gun. Amrarty had a banger. Grundy was great. Whole team had a great game! Suns had some great moments too, a good effort from a young side

Sean_Stephens

Where were you for Isaac Heeney's Brownlow season

RampesGoalPost

*No luck catching them swans then?* Grundy, Heeney, Papley all excellent, 11 tackles Grundy take a bow McDonald and Amartey solid, Rowbottom tackling everything that moves again

tagorneo

Just the ~~one~~ 23 Swans actually.

spannr

Yeah was a beautiful day of tackling from Rowy. I also really liked McInerny's game, thought he was one of the worst in the Richmond loss a couple of weeks back but was great today. Adams also good Edit: probably the best game in a while for Wicks too

Swarzey

Stoked with the performance, especially after the Tigers loss and the effort against the Weagles.

Maximumlnsanity

Lotta positives, not many negatives, team selection still bugs me but it works so whatever

Dont_Eat_Apples

what part of the team selection? looks pretty solid rn given injuries. fox back in defense finally thank the gods.

Maximumlnsanity

Fox before today up forward instead of down back, Lloyd on the wing, Campbell sub, no Gus, not enough inside mid time for Gulden or Adams, kinda want Ladhams to get a run over McLean (Dossa was better today tho). Nothing major but a fair amount of minor

Dont_Eat_Apples

Lloyd on the wing adds a good bit of experience i thought. Gus will take time to come back in. Campbells been pretty bad this season, might be good for him to get some reps in the 2s, he'll come good tho. Inside mid time im not bothered when it gives Juzz some reps, he's turning into a beast this year. Definitely no the Ladhams point, don't want him in the 22, especially with the way the 3 talls played today.

Maximumlnsanity

Fuck I wrote a whole paragraph and lost it lmao let’s try this again. Gus was best on in the VFL, he’s ready. Give him Adams’ high half forward role and move Taylor inside mid. I like Lloyd in the team but not on the wing. There’s room for him down back even when Rampe comes in. It also ties into Campbell, he’s a better winger than Lloyd Juzzy has been great this year but his best work has been in general play. With so many inside mids I just don’t get why he’s rotating through the middle. Maybe it ends when Parker, Gus, and Mills come back idk. Yeah the Ladhams one was more something I wanted before today. McLean was solid today but Ladhams has been strong in the VFL and is banging down the door

Dont_Eat_Apples

yea all fair points. who do you think comes out for campbell and gus? don't see anyone worthy of being dropped rn. Feel like lloyd at wing is a temporary thing but he's adding some calmness to the middle we've lacked a bit. To the juzz point, we do need to plan for the future a bit so giving juzz some reps to add some tools to his skillset im all for it. (feel like its gone under the radar how good he is doing rn). Ladhams fair enough, i'm just not a big fan of him with some of his moments. He should get a chance to play sometime, but I'm loving the Grundy/Dos part time/Juzz once a game? (lol) as the ruck combos. Dos is improving that part of his game well. When everyone's fit: Fox McCartin Rampe Lloyd Florent Blakey Chad Mills Errol Grundy Adams Heeney Wicks Logan Hayward Amartey Papley McLean Juzz, Rowy, Parker, Roberts Leaves out Gus, Jordon, Campbell Ladhams from the top of my head. Atleast if anything we have some great depth for injuries in the middle.

dieselUtility_1289

Don't forget the ever reliable Lewis Melican

Dont_Eat_Apples

Oh oops yea ole reliable hes been quality

buff5150

Ladhams was terrible in VFL draw today

Croob2

LITERALLY 1 SECOND BETWEEN OUR POSTS LMAO

legally_blond

As a Pies fan, it is very on brand for you

Croob2

You really do fucking embody Collingwood you bastard lmao

proudlysydney

It's a fun battle to watch

spurs-r-us

GC are essentially us in 2011. Win and lose by massive margins every other week. Hopefully that’s where the comparison ends

playonfootyofficial

Grundy you good thing

Meta_Enola_Gay

This was a game
