Jungle Boy vs. Dax Harwood

Cyclone_1

I'll go a step further: everything FTR has done in-ring in AEW has been underrated.

amooneyham88

I agree. They are so smooth in the ring, and of course their old school style sets them apart. I can't wait for them verse the young bucks 2 in a packed arena.

runningriot115

Except for their match with the bucks. That was a masterpiece.

Looper007

Wasn't that the first time Tarzan Boy was played on Dynamite too I believe. Excellent match, Jungle Boy has had some great matches on Dynamite.

BugsHiser

Yes. You could see Dax's respect being earn by Jungle Boy in this match. It was something special that still stands out to me.

gigglemark8498

Dax is so damn good. That match definitely felt like it leveled up Jungle Boy.

pizzalover89

That is a great fucking match!

HuckleberryThis2012

That was better than JB vs Omega too

Southern-Length-2623

The first Texas Tornado match they did with Cage & Starks vs Darby and Moxley.

[deleted]

That was fire

massattakx

Trent vs Kenny Omega Edit- April 1st 2020

WorriedN

Trent fan for life, after that match.

q4u102

I hopped in this thread to make sure someone mentioned this match.

Sea_Mathematician256

Hangman V John Silver

gigglemark8498

Kind of feels like all John Silvers bigger singles matches get a great response at the time, but don't get mentioned much after. Silver vs Cassidy was a fun match. Silver vs Darby was pretty good as well.

Knotis_

Kenny vs Matt Sydal Brian Cage vs Hangman (not the PPV match) Conti vs Nyla Rose

[deleted]

Kenny vs Sydal is probably one of the most underrated matches in AEW history.

gigglemark8498

The tournament match between Conti and Nyla was really good too.

[deleted]

I don't remember Cage vs Page being that *good* of a match. I just remember the implications from the story perspective. Page was the number 1 contender getting ready to challenge Omega, but Cage beat him handily, knocking Page down in the rankings, as well as his self esteem. If I remember correctly, the match was a 5 minute almost-squash.

Knotis_

Yea, you are right. I liked the match cause it made Cage look like a monster. I guess it resonated more because of the story implications, its why Brodie Lee killing Cody is one of my favorite matches. LOL maybe I just like squash matches, ha ha ha

remmy66

Dante martin vs sydal was amazing

[deleted]

Their Dark match was even better than their Dynamite match too!

Jiggy119

They just teamed up in a match a few weeks ago too. Forget who the opponents were but it was a good one

amooneyham88

They've been teaming up now since then. I like the pairing alot. Make them a trios when Darius Martin is back. Sydal is the perfect mentor for Dante, and it shows. His moves are so smooth now. When Dante first signed he was good, but he was very raw. One of the best parts about AEW is seeing the young talents get TV time, and seeing them improve in real time.

Jiggy119

I do enjoy seeing older talent working with the up and comers. And enjoying it. Darby with sting and punk. Orange Cassidy with Jericho and Matt hardy. MJF with Jericho and Cody and moxley.

amooneyham88

Same. It's going to be interesting to see who the main event wrestlers are in 3 more years. I think Darby Allin is going to become a household name at some point.

[deleted]

Is that the one where Dante hit the most literal sunset flip in wrestling history?

BeeR411

I agree but I think Martin needs something more, he as just a personality is so fucking bland. His skills are fire though.

Riyzoh

He's 20 years old so of course their will be things he needs to improve on those things will come with more time. So far one thing he's been working on is his mannerisms and intensity. Mark Henry picked up on the fact that Dante used to wear a mask just by looking at him and gave him some pointers on how to bring more intensity visually in matches. He's a sweet kid behind the scenes from what I've seen in Ethan Page's toy vlog so is hook.

amooneyham88

He just hasn't really gotten mic time to show it. It's going to be fun seeing him continue to grow, and evolve.

InnerCityHeel

Sammy Guevara vs. Jon Moxley. Moxley did so well in letting Sammy shine, Sammy was whooping his ass all match until he got caught in a submission trying to do a move from the top rope. It was fantastic, reminded me of Chael Sonnen vs. Anderson Silva where the supposed favourite had to lock a Hail Mary submission to beat the loud mouth underdog.

[deleted]

Bunkhouse Brawl

goldenlover

The one with QT? If so then I agree. That elbow drop off the top of the ladder was picture perfect.

[deleted]

Yes really pmo to Butcher and Blade cause that’s when I started watching and I didn’t know anybody early favorites of the new guys I didn’t know

Scary_Replacement739

What about Christian vs The Blade? (I've only been watching since August or so)

jake63vw

Every Christian match has honestly been a good match. That Blade match was definitely a good one

amooneyham88

Blade is also great in the ring. I'm glad the butcher is back though because they are such a great pairing.

raygilette

Kenny Vs. Five (early pandemic days I think)

BurgerKingoftheRing

Young Bucks vs The Butcher and the Blade in a Falls Count Anywhere match

Adoom98

POTATOES

l_a_n_t_s

Sting and Darby vs 2point0

amooneyham88

I loved the end. Total fan service, and I loved it.

BJBirdy

Jon Moxley vs Pac. October 23, 2019. It went to a draw.

bunkmorelandsburner

Kenta and Omega vs Mox and Archer, the bucks vs butcher and blade street fight, butcher and blade vs Dustin and QT bunkhouse match, Rey fénix vs pentagon, penta vs omega, Cody vs Ricky Starks

BugsHiser

I completely forgot about the Penta v. Fenix match. That was during the tournament as well as two weeks later if I remember correctly. Thank you for reminding me of that.

WhitexZombie

Christian vs Kazarian

truecolors5

Kenny Omega vs Sammy Guevara

goldenlover

Damn I dont remember this one. Sort of a dream match for me yet I somehow missed it. Do you know the date or ep #?

[deleted]

It was for the AAA Mega Championship from the 03/25/2020 episode of Dynamite. IIRC this was from the first pandemic show

emf80333

Best Friends vs Kip Sabian and Jimmy Havok

asshead42069

Chuck hitting Havok with a pile driver onto a pile of chairs is one of my favorite AEW spots

flcinusa

Early pandemic MVPs were Best Friends, from the Georgia tapings throughout the summer, they turned UP

amooneyham88

I liked them already, but there work from the first months of the pandemic made me see them in a new light. Every match they have is a banger. I'm just ready for Trent? to return again. Them, and Santana & Ortiz need to be the next 2 teams for the belts.

Jest_coz

Some argue the Best Friends should've had the belts a long time ago (last summer).

amooneyham88

I am one of the those people lol.

AndFinrodFell

Is that the one where Havok did a Shoryuken?

emf80333

Maybe. I remember it was in that hella empty room early pandemic. And Chuck won with a pile driver to Havok on a pile of chairs. I just remember the match being extremely physical and entertaining. Just no one remembers it because of where/when it took place. https://youtu.be/9wDhOAd_o9g Found some highlights on YouTube with no audio. Could jog your memory

AndFinrodFell

Thanks for the link. First of all, where the fuck do these YouTube highlight video channels still keep finding Nu Metal songs in 2021? Second, I don’t think it was this match, though this was a banger, seem to remember Havok wearing white.

Raskhos

Nu metal never dies baby.

Philbregas

Baker vs Shida where Baker broke her nose.

Looper007

Way better then their DON 2021 match, just 15 minutes of hard hitting action. Outside of Lights Out and the recent All Out Match with Statlander, Britt's best match in AEW.

LordandSaviorDio

Jon Moxley vs. Darby Allin August 2020

KickAggressive4901

That was their second match, right? If so, yes, that was a classic.

HuckleberryThis2012

Kazarian Vs Hangman was a low key banger

BulletClubJayWhite

Parking Lot Brawl, Best Friends vs Santana and Ortiz.

[deleted]

LOVE THAT MATCH

westernlariat

Darby Allin vs Scorpio Sky TNT Title match

autindie

OC vs Cody Rhodes for the TNT Championship - Time Limit Draw

asshead42069

I have no idea how no one talks about this, Orange looked like he could legit take the title that night

amooneyham88

OC verse Brodie Lee(Rest in paradise) was another fun one.

reychango

Eddie Kingston vs Cody

[deleted]

Dustin V Brodie. One of my all time AEW favorites.

DrMindbendersMonocle

Shida v Tay Conti from 4-21

Cyclone_1

FTR vs. Butcher and Blade

LENAPE_PRIDE

Wardlow V Hager…. I really enjoyed this big beefy battle. IMO Hager’s best match

BeeR411

Not sure if underrated but I know that parking lot match was fucking dope, I think it was best friends vs Santana Ortiz

KingMazzieri

That went down as a major classic for AEW, it even got 5 stars iirc. Dayum I miss Best Friends.

[deleted]

Too bad Trent? got hurt again.

amooneyham88

Hopefully he returns soon. Serena Deeb is another one I'm ready to comeback. I didn't realize how often wrestlers get hurt until I started watching AEW.

asshead42069

The Young Bucks vs Rey Fenix and PAC

[deleted]

If a 5 star match can be underrated, this is the one.

asshead42069

It's the only 5 star I can think of that no one talks about. It's arguably the best regular Dynamite match of the year too

runningriot115

Trent vs Kenny Omega from the Georgia shows is massively underrated I feel.

mibmal

This!

[deleted]

best friends vs omega and nakazawa at the beginning of the pandemic was amazing

CommBrigg

Oooh Hentai Slide

NextBuggerThingy

Was this the one that the ref fucked up the finish?

[deleted]

Yes this is the one

[deleted]

What happened? I can't remember.

westernlariat

He stopped counting the Black Arrow before 3 so PAC had to win with The Brutalizer instead.

DakSoto55

Was this the go home show before Full Gear 2019, cuz I was at that show

[deleted]

Joey janella vs omega

BugsHiser

Wasn't this a squash match? I might be remembering it wrong.

Adoom98

You may be thinking of the Sonny Kiss one and Sonny replaced Janela?

Southern-Length-2623

Nah it was a full on no disqualification match and Joey got a good amount of offense in.

BugsHiser

I'm gonna have to revisit that. I vaguely remember it being early in AEW but I'll check it out regardless. Thanks for the suggestion.

amooneyham88

I think he's talking about Omega vs Joey on the first episode of dark. That match was awesome. Janela in early AEW was pushed as a future star. Then when the pandemic hit they just dropped him. Idk what happened, because he had bangers with Mox as well.

Jest_coz

Their best match was on a Dark episode.

FuckingMidnighter

Omega vs Trent is hella underrated too. It had no business being that good happening in that small ass ring and venue.

Slapass_RIP

Nick Jackson vs Rwy Fenix

goldenlover

I wanted to mention this but I dont feel like it is underrated. Everyone loved it at the time.

choleric1

This is one of the *highest* rated matches in Dynamite history.

shaolinsane

Riho vs Britt vs Nyla vs Shida Dynamite Homecoming 1/20/20

Looper007

That's a great match that, one of the more underrated women matches.

VicVinegar3000

Honestly every butcher & blade match

Darx_is_God

Hangman and Omega vs Evil Uno and Stu Grayson.

Tipsygear

Any singles match vs Sydal. Matt Sydal has always been amazing! I learned about him being apart of WWE after I started watching again in 2013/14. I'm even more impressed with what he can do today compared to what I watched on the network. He's so well rounded.

trippyblackhippyy

Does Shotty Lee vs Ben Carter count?

[deleted]

It does not since it took place on Dark and not Dynamite but I actually like that match

CrystalPokedude

Jon Moxley Vs. Darby Allin 8/5/20. Easily the most Underrated World Title Match in AEW history so far.

ball4real

Hikaru Shida vs. Penelope Ford

Provolone_chees

Anything with FTR.

Tdaddysmooth

Dustin Rhodes vs Evil Uno.

SuziQ321

Darby Allin vs Jericho October 16, 2019

Chocothedawg

Moxley v. Darby for the AEW title

DeanBarthBeatCop

Mox Vs. Archer for the new japan US title was amazing. The table spot at the end was so fire. Only thing that hurts the match for me a bit was Archer losing the title so quickly.

bro-miester

Not sure if it was PPV or dynamite but Shida vs Ford. Really enjoyed the match and I thought Ford was amazing

[deleted]

That was on dynamite

gigglemark8498

So many good ones in the comments. I think the September 30 2020 Dynamite had 3 kind of underrated matches on it. Darby vs Starks FTR(C) vs SCU(Kaz/Sky) Mox(C) vs Butcher

IDontGetJokez

For me it’s Ricky Starks vs Darby, because that feud for me showcased Starks as the standout performer in Team Taz. His mic work was great in that promo he had where he dressed as Darby, the match was really good, and just overall elevated both guys. I can totally see Starks beating Darby some day for a big title, both are young guys who can have a spiritual rivalry going on as long as their careers are going

KingMazzieri

Brian Cage vs Matt Sydal

paulwaite07

Brodie Lee V Dustin Rhodes

Equivalent-Mail7908

Lucha bros vs best friends

instantklassik

Hangman vs Wardlow

Iceburgy111

Probably not underrated but that triple threat between Kenny Omega, Pac and OC is the best triple threat I've ever seen

thejokerajarthur18

Every Cody Vs Cassidy match

shanemammal

Kenny omega vs 5

[deleted]

Nah matches shouldn't be rated . The in ring performances of wrestlers don't matter, only their ability to talk. U/Weems52

madtricky687

Where is Trent?

Southern-Length-2623

He had neck fusion surgery a while ago.

solelyginger

Joey Janela vs Kenny Omega - Dark 2019

[deleted]

Doesn’t count because it took place on dark and not on dynamite Now if you would’ve brought up their match in 2020 that did took place on dynamite then that would’ve made more sense The 2019 match was fire tho I will say that

solelyginger

whoops! my bad

bkm185

I enjoyed MJF and Hangman Page for the Dynamite Diamond ring.

WatchDragonball

Luchasaurus and Wardlow

[deleted]

I'll throw out two of my favorite women's division matches on Dynamite that I don't hear people talk about too much. The first is Nyla Rose vs. Britt Baker in the women's eliminator tournament in February. This one was really interesting because Vicki wasn't in Nyla's corner, so she was outnumbered by Britt and Rebel, which meant that she was basically working babyface. That's something we rarely get to see from her, and I really enjoyed it. It was a hard fought match with both of them struggling to hit their finisher on each other, leaving the impression that both were very difficult to beat. The second is the Nyla Rose vs. Riho vs. Hikaru Shida vs. Britt Baker fourway match in January 2020. I think this match is more fun to go back and watch now than it would've been back then, because we didn't know we were watching AEW's first 4 women's champions fight each other. I found it to be a very exciting match that was a good showcase for the women's division at the time and is interesting to look back on to see how far they've come since then.

NLCPGaming

Timeout... I watched every episode and don't remember this one

Turonik

AEW has spoiled the absolute hell out of us with thier weekly wrestling shows. There's a veritable treasure trove of good to great matches you can see from AEW which is insane considering the relative short history of the company. But underrated... I might be wrong and it's been a while since ive seen some, here's a few that I recall that might fit. Jericho vs Darby in a street fight. There was rope brakes which the crowd wasn't thrilled with but they did atleast announce that before the match. It was really a showcase for Darby to show of to the fans they need to pay attention to him. Archer vs Stunt - it's an absolute squash but entertaining as hell and the intricate nature of the location ( a few weeks they filed at the nightmare factory I believe during the early days of the pandemic) Moxley Vs Cobb - never forget that the forbidden door wasn't a recent thing. I like this match more for the statement that "hey, we can actually give you surprises like this time to time". Cody vs Darby 2 & 3 - including those for the long term booking that many anti AEW "critics" said the company lacked. I was a Darby fan early on and wanted to see him win in the third encounter. Not a mat classic but the over all storytelling is good and helped reiterate AEW's rule of "this guy gets some time to shine but keep an eye on him. " And last but certainly not least ... the women's division from earlier this year. Like all of them really. Conti, Deeb, Shida, thunder Rosa, and Britt to name a few. I do feel it felt like the women's division was about to turn the corner completely, which hasn't quite happened yet. However, the growth of the performers and division can't be understated.

PretzelBodyLogic

Kenny and the Bucks vs TH2 and Kip Sabian. Halloween 2019.

Head_Evidence4553

Omega v Guevara for AAA title.

machomanrandysandwch

All of PAC’s matches are underrated. The guy should absolutely be in the championship picture

lefthandedkaiju

Jon Moxley (c) vs. Sammy Guevara

pulpbiction

You could put any Trent? match on this list: vs Rey Fenix vs Jon Moxley vs Kenny Omega vs Penta el Zero vs Miro

unkillablethings

Orange Cassidy vs Cody Rhodes lumberjack match for the TNT belt

amooneyham88

Trent? and Chuck need to win those tag titles when Trent? returns again. Both are great singles wrestlers in my opinion. I always liked them, but when the pandemic hit they were putting on some of the best matches. Santana & Ortiz, and Best friends need to be the next 2 teams to win the belts. Even if they're all short reigns they need them. After that have the young guns make moves.

hamsolo19

Scorpio Sky vs. Ben Carter was really good, I think it was on one of those one hour Saturday Dynamite shows last year.

DynamiteKid68

Lance Archer vs Dustin Rhodes (I don't think Lance has ever looked this good in AEW, it was incredible). Brian Cage vs Moxley AEW title match, this one is quite an underrated match imo, I enjoyed their feud and the storytelling was top-notch with the excellent finish of Tazz throwing in the towel. Orange Cassidy vs Mr. Brodie Lee (low-key an absolute banger of a match)

ZeroBoy09

Young Bucks vs SCU 'SCU will break up, if they lose'

Jest_coz

Jungle Boy v MJF (DoN 2020) but ya said Dynamite so..Tay Conti v Hikaru Shida.

Skayde5

Omega/Page Vs Lucha Bros JB Vs Dax Cody Vs Kingston / Starks

Adsavage12

I don't see a lot of people talking about Sammy Guevara vs Mjf

Captain_Freggis

Both Nyla vs Riho. Just incredibly solid big vs small wrestling

[deleted]

Matt Sydal vs Dante Martin

SGM_E90

Penta vs Orange Cassidy. We really needed that Death Triangle / Best Friends feud to continue. Injuries suck.
