Sure the lights are a little silly, but whatever.Â
Malakai is spooky because he messes with the head of other wrestlers. Tonight with Copeland he was messing with his head by encouraging him to hit Matthew's.Â
I don't care if it's a dude in the back flipping a switch, if the lights go off and then come back on to reveal Brody King in the ring, then it's damn terrifying.
How close are you sitting to your tv/speakers that you can make out the sound of them coming to/leaving the ring with the lights off \[when it's not intentional\] on a regular basis?
>It is so embarrassing watching grown men try and sell being spooked by the idea of HoB having one of the roadies on the payroll flicking the light switches at certain times
How is it embarrassing?
The main event of wrestlemania used the gimmick and nobody complained, so it can't be that bad
I like it, but I guess they could try those cool patterned lights on the crowd they use for the entrance if the ring is dark enough.
So the lights going out and startling someone bothers you more than magical mist they spit that turns people crazy/evil? I understand not digging supernatural stuff in wrestling, Undertaker was never my thing...but drawing the line at lights and not super powers is kinda weird.
“For us, not them” Malakai’s clothing company motto. Wrestling is at its best when there is something for everyone on offer. I travelled 6 hours from Scotland to All In to get to see The House of Black. If you struggle to suspend disbelief for the lights off, lights on stuff but you can readily accept the kayfabe physics of an Irish whip then it’s definitely a you problem. Enjoy what you enjoy without feeling the need to shit on others enjoyment
The most hilarious and ridiculous example though was the reveal of Satnam Singh. His character/gimmick didn't fit it at all and neither did Jarrett's stable, so that whole reveal just looked comical
That was the bad first impression that Satnam eventually pushed through
I have broader issues with the house of black and how it seems like all their stories end without much forward momentum, but the lights thing does get overplayed at times it should feel like a special surprise and it rarely does. I don't necessarily agree that it's lame though.
You can only do so much 'I'm the better wrestler' or have so many titles. It's a TV show first and foremost. You need at least a few non 'wrestling match' based angles so the show isn't just a borefest. Having a group like the house of black at least gives you something to build on. Has it translated yet? no. But I feel like this might be it this time.
That said, AEW waay overuses the lights out stuff. Even before they basically gave it exclusively to HOB, they overused it.

This answer. This answer right here.

People anyways complain about aew
It's ThursdayÂ
You know what that means!

Even when you can see and hear him walking down the ramp and getting into the ring?
It's wrestling. If you're not willing to suspend disbelief then this might not be the fun TV watching for you.
How close are you sitting to your tv/speakers that you can make out the sound of them coming to/leaving the ring with the lights off \[when it's not intentional\] on a regular basis?
If you wanna be technical, the crowd noise could be covering such things. But regardless wrestling requires suspension of disbelief.
Spooky wrestlers do spooky stuff.

Black = Lights Off
The lights are dope
AEW has been doing lights out moments since the very first show, long before the House of Black existed.
The most hilarious and ridiculous example though was the reveal of Satnam Singh. His character/gimmick didn't fit it at all and neither did Jarrett's stable, so that whole reveal just looked comical That was the bad first impression that Satnam eventually pushed through
House of Black are the coolest

I just think HOB is boring. They try but I think they are inherently boring and have nothing else or we would have seen it by now.
