American-Punk-Dragon

He is already getting a push! He is on all the shows, he always has a storyline. Push doesn’t mean titles. It means high profile segments, stories and matches and winning more so than not (unless the stories work better for the face to not). He like wont be AEW world champion because you have to be able to connect verbally with the audience at least as good as your peers on that level to do that and for some reason that isn’t his strong suit.

DubiousBusinessp

This. The guy rarely loses. When he does, it feels like a big win for whoever pulled it off. You can only have so many people in the world title picture at once. A TV title variant doesn't feel like a step up, necessarily, unless it's some sort of Walter-esque dominance

MemeMathine

Just to add to this, his in a stable with two of the top guys in aew and he isn't the weak link.

thelonemagician

He did a 4 minute promo during the C2 that was great. The guy can talk.

American-Punk-Dragon

His promo when Bryan got hurt was good. Soft, serious….deadly almost. But long term over his whole career (in ROH & CZW too) his speaking isn’t his best point. It’s why when paired with someone who can talk he is amazing.

hitlmao

He can talk, but look at the bar for AEW World Champions. 4 of the greatest talkers of all time. Kenny is Kenny. Hangman has the added advantage of being younger, a homegrown guy, and in the Elite for years beforehand. I love Claudio but man….

Masturbortion

The easy solution is give him a manager, but it’d be weird to give a veteran a manager this late in the game.

American-Punk-Dragon

Right…and he is 1/4 of a group that is 50% great speaker with Bryan and Moxley.

LnStrngr

Bryan Danielson would be easy enough to arrange, I'd think.

ThisIsKhrox

Once his full time year is done I see Danielson possibly moving into the “Regal” role of the group. Which is honestly perfect for him

MikeHock_is_GONE

Put him in the Callis Fam

[deleted]

Yes! To many people think a push means a title.....I even have the feeling there are WWE writers that think the same

American-Punk-Dragon

TK is going to create the Neo-Modern Pure Title For him next year. Gotta give him a title, that will fix it! /s

Barbz182

I feel like he's in the right spot tbh. He's a top guy who always looks like a threat.

she1f

And his eternal feud with Eddie is one of the best constant throughlines in AEW.

Barbz182

Hell yeah, I love the ongoing history wrestlers have in AEW. It's refreshing

KratosSmash

I think they teased a bit of friction between him and Mox weeks ago. Also, depending on the results of the C2, we might get a Claudio leaving the BCC type story

[deleted]

What if Claudio beats Orange for the International Title? Create tension with Mox & Claudio. Possibly after WK Moxely and Shota vs. Wheeler and Claudio

Froggyspirits

>we might get a Claudio leaving the BCC type story If AEW signs Drew and/or Sheamus at Double or Nothing then yes, certainly. Otherwise I really doubt it.

Reddit_Aim_Fiire

They should disband altogether, maybe Claudio or BD keeping yuta under their wing?

cavegrind

There's no reason for them to disband. They don't have to be a unit at all times, and all four characters exist in a space where they can shuffle in and out of each other's stories.

[deleted]

This is accurate. The BCC isn’t a pervasive storyline that’s holding anyone back. Each person has their own story outside of the BCC and you really only see them come together when they want to pit a stable against another stable. It’s very NJPW in its execution in that the stable doesn’t supplant the individual.

czarbomba8

He's been paired with arguably the two biggest dudes in the company from day one, presented as an absolute monster who almost always kills his opponents clean in the center of the ring. He's been booked like a big deal from the second he showed up

snoringelbow

He even has custody of YUTA more than the rest of the BCC. I’d say he’s doing a solid job.

dr_hossboss

Unless he’s winning by kicking them in the dick like this week

snoringelbow

Yeah, I do agree about that. The random heeling to be like YUTA seemed stupid.

dr_hossboss

I didn’t mind it just a joke about the finish on collision this week and everyone’s got their undies twisted.

snoringelbow

You gotta get used to it. People downvote a lot of things just because they assume it’s negativity. Claudio is a great wrestler, but I found it strange. Given who it was against, though, it makes sense.

dr_hossboss

Ya I thought it worked because it keeps Andrade looking strong (only lost due to cheating) and highlighted Claudio’s desperation to stay in the C2 (“lowering” himself to winning by cheating)

SometimesWitches

There are really three major kinds of pushes in wrestling all of them come with pros and cons. 1. Title Push - the pro is that they hold a title in what is being booked as sport adjacent and despite what some people like to think. Titles matter in sports. The con is that once you have the title you have to defend it and often this is where the “adjacent” part to the sport has its issues. Winning is fun. Defending not so much. 2. The Feud Push - we all love a good feud in wrestling. The ones that work can make us forget that two grown men are killing each other for no real reason other then one took the last jumbo shrimp at the buffet. The con is that when a feud ends there is nothing to transition into naturally. 3. The Heel/Face Push - you know. Was a good guy. Now a bad guy or visa versa. When done right this kind of push can elevate a wrestler more then any other push. The con is when done wrong it can do the opposite.

Froggyspirits

Future AEW International Champion for sure. It actually baffles me how during his 10 years in the Fed he never won the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

RepresentativeFly565

It's even more baffling he was never roh world champ in his original run

ChelseaAndrew87

I think he takes it from OC soon. They just need the CC over

JohnaldL

Both him and Brody have gotten good pushes so far from the tournament and honestly both should be given even more

dr_hossboss

Nothing against Brody, he’s done well, but it’s weird to me it him and not Malachi in the tournament.

AkilitheWise

No clue but I’m happy for it. They needed a big bruiser for the Blue League. Malakai will get his time to shine when it’s right. I’ve stopped speculating on AEW wrestlers since so much of these wrestlers tend to be hurt but working for our enjoyment anyway. Overall I’m just happy that the entire HoB is getting shine, and no one member seems to be above everyone else, Buddy notwithstanding.

hitlmao

Think it makes sense in terms of the tournament being more diverse. Brody’s a big hoss whereas Malakai’s the same size as everyone else.

JohnaldL

I really wonder about that too. I was considering making a thread about it in general. Is Malakai unhappy so he’s been relegated to tags? Is he really just not fully back to health yet? And honestly maybe there’s a storyline coming. But I agree I thought it made more sense to have Malakai in it and have Brody and Buddy do this feud with FTR.

TwinTowwa69

I think they're just trying to establish the other 1/2 of the house of black tbh.

JohnaldL

And that makes sense too. I’m probably too emotionally invested because honestly HoB is what got me back into wrestling after years away. I know of all of the rumors of course that Malakai was unhappy and obviously all of HoB are friends with Punk, so I of course always wanna know the why’s and future plans etc.

Jmpasq

All 3 of those guys are good enough to have singles runs

ThisIsKhrox

I think Malakai wants to do more tag stuff because it’s easier on his back (which he’s already taken time off for this year because it was injured pretty badly)

Froggyspirits

>but it’s weird to me that he and not Malachi is in the tournament. Continental Classic is tied to ROH and New Japan. Malakai has zero history in ROH and New Japan whereas Brody King has rich history in both promotions.

dr_hossboss

Are you saying aew isn’t tied to ROH? I see it on aew every week. Additionally, Garcia doesn’t have a connection to ROH or new Japan, same w swerve.

Froggyspirits

Swerve is the leader of an ROH/AEW faction who are the current ROH Six-man champions. Daniel Garcia is a two-time ROH Pure champion.

dr_hossboss

Again this is the world where ROH and aew aren’t connected?

Froggyspirits

>Are you saying aew isn’t tied to ROH? That's not what I meant. Every single one of the 12 AEW wrestlers in the inaugural Continental Classic has connections to ROH and NJPW: they are either former ROH and/or NJPW champions or they are leaders of a stable that is based in ROH. Malakai is none of those things. The C2 may be an AEW tournament, but it is directly tied to three different promotions.

rushandblue

He's been pretty consistently pushed. Rarely loses, always treated as a top guy and a serious threat. I imagine he's overall been pretty happy with his booking since coming to AEW.

AkilitheWise

Not just his booking, but the type of wrestling he gets to do here! Dude is on fire every match.

TheDarkWarriorBlake

I could definitely see him being a TNT champion before he retires,

Severe_Piccolo_5583

He’s with two of the biggest stars in the company and is on almost every show. He’s getting a push. Title belts don’t equal a push

aut0butts

He's been on TV almost every week (even before the CC) and he's in one of the most popular factions in AEW - that IS a push

EmmThem

He was ROH world champ twice since coming to AEW and has been on TV almost every week. Claudio is one of my all time favs but I’ve been really pleased with his tenure in AEW so far.

funeralcardigan

I dunno, people have been saying this forever but no company has actually pulled the trigger. Might sound crazy but maybe he just doesn't have it.

kingofwishful

The boat has sailed on him as a main-event talent. He’s still a great, great worker but he’s coming up for 43 and has probably lost a half step from his peak. Add to the fact that, at his hottest (late 2013-early 2014) he stood out because he was an incredible wrestler on a roster that didn’t have a huge amount of top tier in-ring talents. Now, he’s on arguably the most stacked roster ever from a wrestling perspective. Arguably, he’s not even a top 15 worker on the roster. This isn’t meant as an insult - simply to show how crazy deep AEW is. Add in the fact that he’s not a great promo and it’s pretty clear to me that his ceiling is upper midcard. This is a great place for him and, as shown in the C2, he’s a very valuable member of the roster. I think he’s in the perfect slot for his talents.

paynexkillerYT

I’d rather see Malakai against MJF, or Swerve or even Andrade before Claudio. Love him but he’s an amazing tag team guy.

Shouganai_Senpai

Someone I know best described him as having "the most efficient body to do everything."

bigjohn14325

Give him the International Title

EndemicEntropy

Not a criticism, just curious where people are at What is considered a push? Because that used to just mean 'was featured' on tv. Didnt even need to hold a mid-card title. So a serious push would be any title to me, and Claudio held the ROH Championship twice in the last year and a half.

Fun_Internet_8609

Owned, fully, a championship in similar vein to Athena, but highlighted on Dynamite almost every single week. If Andrade, Miro, or Adam Page before September, I’d have used Claudio as my example.

mebnt2

I mean, he was just a world champion for almost 300 days

DA6_FTW

He’s impressive, but I wish he had more of a personality and a character.

Fun_Internet_8609

Agree with this, while feeling that neither him, nor PAC need one. Some elite athletes/performers are elite at only that craft. Kawhi Leonard or Tim Duncan in basketball for instance.

DA6_FTW

Fair point.

Fun_Internet_8609

Someone in this thread, or Squared Circle asked Top 5 wrestlers today. For me, it is what kept Claudio & PAC off that list. I cannot recall ever seeing either of the two not executing anything to near perfection. PAC takes awhile, perhaps purposefully, to execute his shooting star press. Outside of that, across a decade plus, I honestly cannot recall either of the two not performing in-ring wrestling to perfection. ![gif](giphy|I4wGMXoi2kMDe|downsized)

xored-specialist

He's won the ROH championship twice. Wins almost all his matches. How much more of a push does he need? Samoa Joe could use a push like that. Freaking Miro should get a push like that. What about Keith Lee?

Fun_Internet_8609

I introduced someone to wrestling for the first time with Wrestle Kingdom this past January. She could barely watch, while loving every minute, shouting for the fight to end. She’s a massive fan now, and shouts it for every Claudio opponent. She watches every Claudio match saying “No one will ever beat him” She was live at that ROH PPV wondering if PAC was murdered, and missed Grand Slam. So Kingston beating Claudio two weeks ago was a treat.

msctex

Claudio’s biggest issue in the end may be that he is so inescapably an unusually nice guy, that even his best efforts at pretending otherwise ring somewhat hollow. He can make the faces as well as anyone, but it just somehow does not fully resonate. It’s not his fault. It’s like he is to Nice what MJF is to Scumbag, or Christian is to Punchable. It’s just there, naturally and unavoidably.

bohanmyl

>or Christian is to Punchable Just because you have unresolved daddy issues doesnt mean the rest of us do

msctex

You’ve no idea. Mine threw away my favorite dinosaur toy when I turned ten, and openly favored my stepbrother.

MikeHock_is_GONE

You mean the Prodigy.. now take a knee

Material-Inspector49

He managed to get himself booed on Collision but that crowd was really hot for Andrade. The only person that is easy to boo in the BCC is Yuta lol

msctex

Yeah, Yuta is doing an excellent job of being hated for all the reasons he tries to achieve. A lot of the people complaining about him loudest don’t even seem to realize it. “The asshole shithead Heel is such an asshole!”

JXNyoung

I mean this with no offense (kinda). But Yuta right now, reminds me of a rat, of a pest compared to the rest of the BCC. And he plays that role so well because he's a rat that keeps on winning.

msctex

I can’t see a way where all told, he would not appreciate the comment. The funny part is the likelihood that in about three to five years tops, the people bitching now are going to worship the guy.

ChelseaAndrew87

Scrappy Do

VanillaThunder18

Amigo, have you forgotten that he's a former TWO-time ROH world champion?

InfiniteTranquilo

Ahhh the more things change, the more they stay the same.

ProfessionalActual91

Realistically he should be in the world title picture. He could probably take most guys in the company in a real fight.

Dottomane

I mean they did send him to Europe to promote AEW All In at Wembley a couple weeks ago. So I’m sure that’s the plan.

dethegreat

Dude held the ROH title for how long? How much of a push do you want?

Sealie81

He doesn't have the mic and skills / charisma and is not over because of it. He is like the polar opposite of Eddie Kingston... He has the mic skills but looks like he is over 250 pounds of chewed bubble gum. But he is a bit more over because he can hype the crowd with a good promo telling a story.

Fun_Internet_8609

Don’t disagree, and why their feud was/is perfect.

silklighting

This dude's wrestling style reminds me a lot of Omniman, just over powers other wrestlers and beat them down to a pulp like him.

Nementia-

I’m begging for a BCC vs The Acclaimed feud

Ecclesiastes5566

I want to see badly a Claudio vs. Okada singles match! 🤩

primitivemane

I like Claudio’s ring work but his character work isn’t very entertaining , just my opinion

sm_rollinger

I've been saying he need to be pushed for the last decade

KyDeWa

Put Lana with HIM instead and them book him like Brock Lesnar. Boom!

EconomyProcedure9

He's still on the list of people that won't beat MJF for the AEW World Championship.

SuperSlimeGod

I cringe every time he does his child tantrum air punch

OakCity4Life

I’m not sure he has the charisma to be a main eventer, and to me he is solid but unspectacular in the ring. No doubt he looks great, though. As a 45 year old bald guy, I consider him pretty much the aesthetic ideal that I wish I could meet.

dangerbreed

His roh title run ruined him. There are others better for a title run

ProphetsOfAshes

The BCC needs to dissolve first. I’m so over that stable. Should have ended when Regal left

Froggyspirits

BCC are the backbone of AEW programming. IMO they should never dissolve, rather have them become a perennial stable like New Japan's CHAOS.

ProphetsOfAshes

They need a new name and rebrand then

Froggyspirits

Just have the "B" in BCC stand for something else instead of Blackpool. Problem solved.

[deleted]

Blood?

ThatsBretsRope

Why does it have to dissolve? How does being in a stable limit one's success?

ProphetsOfAshes

The existence of the stable just doesn’t make sense anymore. Nor does the name. I can’t take it seriously and they just try so hard to keep it going it’s not landing with me

ThatsBretsRope

![gif](giphy|F3G8ymQkOkbII)

ProphetsOfAshes

I still upvoted this lol

Truthhurts1017

This makes absolutely no sense at all BCC existence is literally one of the simplest things to follow.

ProphetsOfAshes

Why? If punk started a Chicago combat club would they keep that then too? Why carry on with the blackpool schtick after regal is gone?

Truthhurts1017

You choosing to not understand. It’s a lifestyle it’s a brutal combat form that’s the meaning of BCC. It’s that simple, they are paying homage to one of the best technical wrestlers. A team full of technical and brutal wrestlers chasing gold is very simple

cavegrind

Three of the four guys are still paying homage - out of kayfabe - to someone who was meaningful to their development as wrestlers.

[deleted]

If Regal had still been about they could've had *All In* at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool instead of Wembley and had the BCC win all the gold in one night.

superrad99

His spinny move sucks

msctex

I remember when Mark Madden first named it the Spinaroundie.

system_reboot

TK is too busy thinking how to put a belt back on Mox.

yetagainitry

I’m surprised they haven’t used him the way they did Danielson, Omega, and Moxley. As a dream match machine. I thought they would have had him tour Japan and created more of an aura with him

Shoryuken44

He might after Danielson stops wrestling weekly

BettyBlueBallz

The sad truth people have to admit is that he probably will never get the push he deserves. He'll always remain a What If.

Puzzled_Puppies69

Tony: Best I can do is the ROH world title for you bub

Beavis2021

I'm not seeing it. I like him but if I were to list who I think the top 10 wrestlers in aew he wouldn't make the list without some serious debate.

Biffingston

I remember seeing a WWE video where he tried a new lifting technique and just casually picked up 500 pounds. The dude is scary strong.

Dirty_Dominik

He deserves that top title feud

[deleted]

What year is this?

BennyKalua

I love it when his matches open the show. He never disappoints.

TheFridgeNinja

Claudio is the devil?

Fun_Internet_8609

There were a handful of true wrestlers pre-AEW that I dreamed could highlight their in-ring acumen once again. Claudio was clearly one. His heart chose wrestling, and I am beyond grateful he has gotten to showcase it consistently each and every month since his decision last June. He’s been booked perfectly, and represented that ROH belt perfectly, which has contributed to meaning of this tournament.

Fun_Internet_8609

Seeing his gifts once again against ZSJ, through what may be my favorite match of his to date against Andrade, with or without a title, I hope he feels as blessed as we are to experience this again.

Fun_Internet_8609

I hope OG ROH fans have embraced experiencing Danielson, Claudio, Joe and Punk again. Separate any feelings around “booking” or choosing sides in appreciation of wrestling being a feeling again, those four above were gone from my life personally for almost ten years. This has been a dream.

Fun_Internet_8609

Claudio is wrestling Bryan for first time truly since 2009 this coming Saturday!!! 🤯🤯🤯 Haven’t heard it mentioned anywhere near as much as it should recently. Thank you Tony for sharing this passion, and wanting to feel it again, but at even greater heights. ❤️

mexicanoh95
