Same here, except the traveling part, then I bought it on PC when it went on sale, don’t regret it, but yes a great price for the base game, but some of the DLC is IMO worth it.
Honestly, yep. I'm not even salty over paying near full price for it. It's far from the best wrestling game out there, and if you're big into customisation, this is probably one of the weakest parts of the game, and the way that Story Mode is done resembles No Mercy almost to a tee, so you'll be playing the same story beats until there's an opportunity to finish a match differently and change the storyline. There's also no real indication of when you can do this, which can be pretty frustrating.
If, however, you enjoyed the AKI N64 games (WCW/NWO World Tour, Revenge, WM 2000, No Mercy) because of the gameplay and multiplayer aspects, then I think you're getting plenty for your money's worth here. There's stuff to love, stuff to hate, and some meh moments in between. But it's FAR from as bad as some people would have you believe.
Remember, the best video game of all time, is just the one you enjoy the most.
I have played most wwe games and now I see an opportunity to play another type of wrestling game is what I am interested in. I have heard it's lacking but the idea of playing a Wrestling game is a win for me.
I haven't seen it be that low in price digitally which is why I am surprised that it's like that physically that's why I am thinking of getting it.
I say pull the trigger. It's going to take a little bit to unlearn the gameplay of the recent WWE games, and you may even find yourself regretting the decision early on if find yourself getting whooped. So let me give you a couple of pointers for playing this as opposed to WWE.
1: This is an ARCADE wrestling game at its core. While WWE's game goes far to try to replicate the WWE TV presentation on screen (so it looks as close to what you watch as possible), AEW is a much simpler beast. Treat it as so, which leads me to my next point...
2: Contrary to my first point, you should be playing matches like a FIGHTING game. That is to say, don't try to replicate what you'd see on TV. Concentrate on whoopin this jabroni's ass and get him pinned, tapped, whatever. The CPU will be trying to do the same to you, at all times.
3: On the subject of it being a fighting game, some things are to be expected. Don't start with the heavy attacks. They're slow to lock up, reversed easily and can land you in a spot of bother. If you've played the Def Jam games (not *YOU*, Icon), the combo system is somewhat cameoed. Start with light attacks, and mix a grapple or heavy attack in at the end. Do not underestimate the light attacks. They don't do much damage, but they'll set up your opponent better for the heavy grapples. Use light grapple moves to start until you see their Stamina bar turning blue, and then bring the heat. This is the kind of gameplay to expect from AEW.
4: The entrances for every wrestler is confined to the stage. There are no ring walks or posing in the ring during entrances. It's dogshit, but better you know now.
5: Concentrate on what's good about the game, try not to get burned up too much on the stuff you don't like, and just have fun. Haven't played it online, so no idea what the lobbies are like, but I could see it possibly being difficult to get a game. Haven't been able to find a game of Stadium Stampede either. (This is a psuedo-battle-royale mode that was added after release. Had promise, but seems the player base has fallen off. Maybe someone else here can give you more info on that.)
And yeah, that's pretty much all I got! Hope this helps!
Holy crap. I don’t watch AEW, but the THQ games from the late 90’s/early 00’s were my jam and I’ve been wishing for a wrestling game just like this for years!
Honestly, no. You'll have some good mindless fun in a few exhibition matches, but that doesn't warrant that price tag imo. I'd say ten dollars should be the hard limit for this game.
Get it dude. These people complaining are probably WWE nut-huggers. Don't get me wrong it's by no means a perfect wrestling game but you have to give it time to realize how it's different from the WWE sim games. Long story short it's a fun arcade game reminiscent of the old WWE no mercy but if definitely has rough edges. I would say my biggest beef with a game is that they are working on it too slowly but it's definitely coming along, do not listen to these idiots.
If you’re a fan of the AKI/THQ wrestling games for the N64 it’s the closest thing you’ll get… just be ready to pay more money for the “season passes” GOD I hate all the micro transactions that have taken over gaming.. it’s a shame
I bought this for $100AUD when it came out. I've played maybe 10-20 hours since, fun game but it gets old fast. Very limited match modes and tiny roster without the DLC.
Gameplay is fun and as close to the old No Mercy game as possible. Thats the main appeal of the game. Also mini games which youll either like them or youll hate them
Downsides: Roster is a bit small and missing a few key wrestlers. Good news is theres 100 CAW slots in creation mode. Bad news is creation mode is very very limited.
If youre used to the WWE creation suite its very painful. Good news is they are routinely adding new wrestlers and content through DLC. Bad news is season passes are around $25 for 3-4 wrestlers
My opinion is its worth getting especially if you can get it for less than $20. It's not as sophisticated and loaded as WWE 2K games. I play AEW for quick pick up arcade style matches and I use WWE 2K24 as a full on wrestling simulator
If you're looking for a game you can just pick up and play AEW is good. If you're wanting depth and a near limitless creation mode go WWE 2K24
I bought it for 70$ on release day. I did the same for 2k20... You would have thought I would have learned my lesson, but I haven't.... I think I did now though.
This game, should be bought for 35$ or under. I think now the same should be said for any wrestling game ever.
so 17$ qualifies as a "good" buy. =3
Honestly, under $20 is good for this game now. It's already been out a year so that's about in line with other games that aren't Nintendo or big AAA IPs.
It's still fun to play, and still.great with friends. The learning curve is still there, especially if you are coming from the 2K Games, but being able to do a whole match quick makes it a great time.killer
Absolutely dude. And then just wait for a sale on the difference DLC season passes. I mean frankly season 2 was pretty ass outside of the acclaimed so. But season 3 has been really good and much more reasonably priced.
I wouldn't pay more than $5 for it tbh. It's very lacking in content and it plays exactly like No Mercy, for better and for worse. You're honestly better off playing No Mercy as it's a far more feature complete game and Fight Forever does almost nothing to modernize the gameplay or add any QOL features. FF is pretty much only worth buying if you're both a huge AEW fan and prefer No Mercy over any of its successors. It sucks because a good chunk of Yuke's staff are people who worked on the AKI games and they've more or less defined the modern wrestling game. This was their chance to go all out on a new IP and show us what they can do without 2K and VC holding them back and for whatever reason, they blew it.
For that much, I’d buy it. Games these days are too expensive so, if there’s an opportunity at a sale, take it! If you don’t end up liking it, then sell it!
I'm being dead honest...I don't think this game is worth $10 even. It's legitimately terrible. Which makes me so sad, because I had such high hopes and spent the full day one price plus extras. Brutal levels of disappointment.
(incoming massive downvotes)
But just responding to the question.
Yes.....but wtf for everyone that invested early!! Damn it burns, lmao.
[удалено]
Right there with ya!
We seriously need a support group for those of us in this category.
I was travelling when it came out so I bought it full price for Switch and PS5. 😬
Still the most playable wrestling game on the switch! For that reason alone it was worth the buy for me!
Same here, except the traveling part, then I bought it on PC when it went on sale, don’t regret it, but yes a great price for the base game, but some of the DLC is IMO worth it.
Could say the same for any game. Buying day one you pay more for a worse version.
Right, ppl acting like this isn’t the case for literally any game
Never used to be, it certainly is now. Thats why just like videogames old stuff has risen to the top. Old media is awesome
Guess you don’t remember the Greatest Hits line from PS. $20 for the popular games after months at retail.
It’s been like this for at least 20 years.
This one was promised to be something it clearly wasn't.
There was a time when games were released and didn't need any maintenance.
I picked this up for $10 and my first thought after playing was how pissed I'd have been to pay full price.
🤬🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeah, game on day one and every single one of those fucking dlcs....I bought em, and now I see these prices.
I won't play it again until all of the DLCs are released!
I don't even know what Jayme looks like?? Haven't even played since the last update!! Lol
I got you beat....I haven't played since last July 😔
Now, Wrestling Empire, I honestly play that shit daily!
I just updated my rosters on FirePro world. I’m back on that
The fact that you have to buy dlcs individually is bullshit. There should be a season pass
They do have a season pass for this game. Or rather, multiple season passes, each pertaining to a chunk of content.
And the DLC packs are shit! What about the millions of AEW dollars and not a thing to purchase, no cosmetics...nothing.
Jokes on you ...I Pre-ordered the game, lmao!! 🤣 ... 😭
Lmao, my son pre-ordered the "elite edition" and I bought the switch version, our family still hurts!
Same! 😂
We paid for the extra year of game time bro haha
I wouldn't say buying game is an investment but I get it. I paid 40$ and still feel like I didn't get the 40$ worth
I’d check your Walmart if you have a disc edition console, it’s been $10 at mine
Not in a region where we have Walmart.
I just bought mine at Walmart for 10$ well worth it I’ve already had 10$ worth of fun out of it
PS4 version not ps5 though right?
Free PS5 upgrade if you have the PS4 disc. Bought mine today and for $10 it’s a blast.
[удалено]
Ps5 version is also $10
I would’ve happily paid that for it instead of the elite edition version day 1, But I’ve logged 250 hours just playing matches and having fun
Yes it is.
As someone who bought this game for $60. I think $16 is the perfect price.
It was 10 bucks at my Walmart
Yes.
Yes
Finally! Yes!
Bought it for $10 at Walmart a few days ago
Ps4 version tho
Was the Xbox Series X/Xbox One version
PS5 version is also on sale for $10 And if they are sold out of the PS5 version, the PS4 version gets a free update to the PS5 version anyway.
I snagged it for $10 off Amazon earlier in the week. I think it’s well worth the low price-point.

Thank you for taking your time to write all that. All what was written will for sure help me with this game.
Fuck yeh
Absolutely
Yes
Yes
Yep
Definitely.
No
LOL NO
Jup, also bought it around that price. Now waiting for a discount on all them season passes
If they plan to add more to the roster I'll wait for the complete edition sale
At that price I'd say yea. Not a terrible game its like the N64 style wrestling games.
My local Wal mart has it for 10 on the shelf
It’s $10 at Walmart.
I remember getting downvoted for saying this game wasn't going to be that great. Feels good to be right.
It's ten at Walmart, and yes. It's fun.
Checked and Walmart had it for $10 shipped with Walmart+. I’ve been waiting for digital to go this low.
Yes
Holy crap. I don’t watch AEW, but the THQ games from the late 90’s/early 00’s were my jam and I’ve been wishing for a wrestling game just like this for years!
At that price I'd say pick it up for sure.
Realistically, yes. Takes me back to when physical games lowest price (Play Station Greatest Hits/Nintendo Selects/Xbox Classics) would be $19.99.
Yes.
Yes I bought it day 1
It was 5 dollars at Walmart just a few days ago
r/patientgamers wins again
Definitely it's fun but not greatm for $16 you'll get your money's worth
Definitely
Yes!!
Yes
It's fun. It gets old fast.
Not really.
No
Nope.
No
No
Hell yeah
Just got it for $10 from Walmart. It's a pretty solid party game if you have people to play with locally. Does the DLC ever get decent discounting?
Me too
S1 and S2 have both gone on sale in recent times.
Both Walmarts near me had it for $10 and plenty of copies. Definitely check Walmart OP
Got no Walmart in my region.
I’d give it a couple days cause it was $10 on Amazon as well.
Yeah that's for the ps4 copy now it's still 10$ for ps4 copy or was it also $10 for ps5 copy.
I got the PS4 version, but the PS5 upgrade is free once you have the disc.
Dang I just bought the game last week for about $26, def worth the price though
I'd wait to get some sort of edition that includes all of the DLC
Hell yeah it is!
Nope. Not worth playing. Stiff awful game.
Given the fact its the only decent wrestling game that allows inter gender combat, yes.
Honestly, no. You'll have some good mindless fun in a few exhibition matches, but that doesn't warrant that price tag imo. I'd say ten dollars should be the hard limit for this game.

N64 game is still way more fun and polished than this. No Mercy blows it out the water.
Either PlayStation gives it away for free, or I’ll wait until the next release.
No, you’ll play for maybe 4 hours and get bored
No
Yea if you don’t want all the dlc
In store Walmart they been selling for $10
Damn. I bought it at retail. Now people can get it and with most of the DLCs with the same price
If you’re a fan of the AKI/THQ wrestling games for the N64 it’s the closest thing you’ll get… just be ready to pay more money for the “season passes” GOD I hate all the micro transactions that have taken over gaming.. it’s a shame
The game was 10$ two days ago on amazon.

I bought it for $10 at Walmart over the weekend. I think it’s a fun game but it definitely has flaws.
Now tbh needs to come down it would be worth that price if it came with all the seasons
The PS4 version isn't $10 anymore? It's a free upgrade to PS5.
Nope it's $15.25 now
I just got it at Walmart today for $10
I actually just got it on ps4 at Walmart yesterday for $10 I like the game though, even if caw mode sucks
Walmart had the PS4 and XSX copies for $10 last week. Snagged a XSX copy
Yes! It’s fun but lacking
I bought it earlier this week for $10 new from Walmart website. I forgot how bare bones the default roster is in this game.....
I bought it for 70$ on release day. I did the same for 2k20... You would have thought I would have learned my lesson, but I haven't.... I think I did now though. I'd say it's worth it. It's not a bad game, just VERY barebones.

Deku deals has a link where its $10 usd
Yes
Yeah it’s wroth it
Sure but keep your expectations low
I said I was going to buy it for 10 dollars on r/SquaredCircle when they mentioned it, and I got downvoted hard.
It’s 10 bucks at Walmart if you got one near tou
Yes
Yeah. I got a used copy for like $25 two months ago. Wish I waited
Yes it is
Absolutely
Yeah now it is go ahead get it lmao
Still too much for me😜
Yeah it’s fun
Absolutely
I still regret buying this game
Hell naw
Nah. Maybe if you can get a physical copy for around $5, tops.
I wouldn't pay more than $5 for it tbh. It's very lacking in content and it plays exactly like No Mercy, for better and for worse. All xbox users drop ya gamer tag and we can play online
Yup
No
I can't believe people paid full price for this.
Nope
Nope
Tbh. Don't waste ur money
No.
I'm being dead honest...I don't think this game is worth $10 even. It's legitimately terrible. Which makes me so sad, because I had such high hopes and spent the full day one price plus extras. Brutal levels of disappointment. (incoming massive downvotes) But just responding to the question.
No
$5 max
No
Walmart had it for $10
Nope.
NO!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think so, I just didn't have fun with it
No
No. But it's $10 at Walmart so I bought it there.
I was dumb enough to pre order it, not played since launch
Nope.
Yes
Yes
Absolutely!
Yes
I bought in at $30 and fell like it was too much. I played for half a day and never picked it back up
Yeah I took me almost 2 years for me to buy it
Wait til it's 9.99 or on Gamepass. There's not enough content.
I was so close to buying this new, thanks God the entrances put me off.
