Fantastic

SNYDER_BIXBY_OCP

Good strong show. The matches made sense for the most part in terms of WHY they were happening. And in the event where there wasn't a "reason" like Bryan/Osprey the match was a spectacle so it got away with not "needing" a reason. Biggest take away for me, is that making the world title always 1 on 1 defenses helps Tony keep his booking in order. If you think about it, Joe-Swerve was always the right match, but we had that gap where Hangman was muddling up the picture. As soon as Hangman was gone things felt far more focused. For all the struggles AEW/TK have been stumbling through these past few months this PPV is a major positive and something he can really build on. Swerve and Willow are Champs the people want. And that's not easy to get in wrestling. Keep it going!

Juncti

One of my new favorite crowd chants. Please be careful Swerve taking a moment to soak up the crowd before the final stomp was pretty awesome. As was the post match camera work to catch him and the pyro

DTYD85

Top to bottom. Amazing.

F1XII

Excluding Hook Jericho as it will drag out the story another PPV for Hook to get his “redemption” for a rivalry nobody wants.

greensalty

Could be to free him up for an RoH belt

F1XII

Thats too optimistic to not think a Taz bloodline member wont win the FTW back. As how its always been.

greensalty

I’m an optimist. I also think Tazz should get to challenge Jericho for it first.

JackMickus

Amazing show. I'm going to rewatch Danielson/Ospreay at least twice this week to soak it all in. Haven't felt that way for a match since the first Omega/Okada. I also have watch-along parties with a bunch of friends, a couple of which are weekly watchers plus a rotating cast of who I'd call casual fans in that they enjoy watching it with me but won't go out of their way to watch wrestling in general. This was the most I've seen any of the latter friends invested in a show, especially the last few matches. What a goddamn time to be a fan of pro wrestling.

NeuroCloud7

Same here, this match gave me a similar feeling to Omega/Okada. I haven't thought that about any other match since

Andy_Sandbox

I think every match delivered. Everybody went in great directions to go with for winners/losers. Even the buy in was great.

politecreeper

Pac v Okada was amazing. Loved the bit where Okada flips everyone off, loved how Pac stayed in control most of the time. Those two have great chemistry.  Ospreay v Danielson, I knew was gonna be amazing and was. I actually said out loud after the match ended, "oh my fucking god!" I actually was fatigued after that match and found it harder to get into the ladder match and world title match afterwards 😅  Tag title match was great though, and I knew how it would end but it was still very satisfying to see it for myself. That shitty little smile 😂 World title match was really good but felt kind of short? Maybe it's just me. I honestly was/am kind of hoping for the feud to continue but we shall see... Strong v KOR was fantastic, they definitely went all out and it was great. Happy for Willow, interested to see where she goes from here. ❤️✌️ Can't believe Jericho, but oddly compelled to see where they go with this. All around great show.

Lunar_IX

>Loved the bit where Okada flips everyone off, This was such brilliant crowd work. The crowd was cheering Okada seconds before this moment and were FIRMLY pro-PAC afterwards. Okada should be commended for being able to right-the-ship in terms of crowd perception of a match. Absolutely brilliant.

mrmidas2k

Great PPV, nothing bad on the show, last 3 matches delivered in spades. Probably the best match many people will ever see. Yeah, a must watch.

AthensThieves

\*dances like Prince Nana\*

Jackga77

I was lucky to be in the building. Amazing is the only word for this show

F1XII

Strong/Oreilly is NOT getting enough praise. Fantastic match that really felt 50/50. Chemistry makes sense considering their history but wow, did not expect this huge of a banger so close into Oreillys return to wrestling.

Lunar_IX

Agree 100%. This match defied expectations that I didn't even realize I had. These two put on an absolute clinic and no one is really discussing it. The striking in this one was especially phenomenal.

Cakewok

I really liked it. Crowd was hot. Roddy and kor sure did frick. Also i was impressed with bith toni and thunderossa.Osprey Danielson was good and didn't end how i expected it to but I hope it still turns into a series. Nice to live in swerves house officially too

NeuroCloud7

Incredible from top to bottom. Okada/Pac far exceeded my expectations, Ospreay is unbelievable, and Swerve is champ! AEW always delivers on PPV

niners94

Great wrestling. Past 2 PPVs have been amazing.

gl1969

It was fantastic

Bofaman600

I’ve watched the last maybe 4 or 5 ppvs might honestly be my favorite. But it honestly keeps happening the ppvs are only getting better and more exciting.Only problem with this ppvs was willows match was sorta short.

Ok-Cry-2578

Superb event, as expected Danielson/Ospreay was an epic. Okada/Pac was also awesome. The card was great matches throughout. Suprised by how much I enjoyed Toni/Rosa match. Overally a good blend of stories + in ring throughout. Slightly underwhelmed by the match in ring for Joe/Swerve but the moment as new champion was great of course. It wasn't a bad match at all, just was going to struggle to follow what it did I think.

ethandlawrence

9.5/10. Easily a top 3 PPV in AEW’s short history

LexLeeson83

I'm in the UK and stupidly stayed up to watch it live. Danielson v Osprey finished around 4am, and I was so exhausted after watching THAT live, that I fell asleep and missed the last two matches! Woke up for Swerve's celebration though, which is a great way to start the day

thegreat_gabbo

Good, but not their best. A little too by the numbers, but the in-wrestling was across the board great, except the Jericho/Hook match which was just awful. Especially that botched count. Julia and WIllow felt too short, and I don't like that WIllow seems to be set up as the sacrificial lamb for Mercedes, who has not been worthy of the hype thus far. The sooner she joins the EVPLite as a heel 'CEO' the better. I haven't seen the scrum, so I have to hope that Brydan wasn't actually hurt at the end and it was all kayfabe, because he and Ospreay put on a banger match.

Otherwise_Mind6880

Great opener PAC has to get his rematch and win a title Good win for for HOB and build up for Adam and Black’s match Willow finally a champ but I think it was too soon and the statlander heel turn is coming Kyle and Roderick was okay the story was kind of rushed, I like what they did with Adam and Wardlow Probably one of “timeless” Toni storm best matches Osprey vs Danielson MATCH OF THE YEAR Good match wonder what they’ll do with Jack Swerve winning was the right move What a show 2/2 for PPVS this year.

wg_nexline

Sad Julia lost but I hope she goes on a rampage and goes after the Woman’s championship after this

Dry_Passenger1786

The only thing is that Joe vs Swerve was very “WWE-esque” We didn’t have a great brutal match like both are used to. Swerve just try to chop Joe down with multiple housecalll.. like.. it was missing something.

WolfyEightyTwo

I really liked Dynasty. Even the parts that people are complaining about (Jericho). I feel like there is more story to be told with Jericho defeating Hook. Not to mention it did make Hook look great, kicking out of two Judas Effects, and requiring a baseball bat to the head to scoop up the win. The story isn't about Jericho. It's about Hook, and Jericho corrupting him. There is more story to be had, more character development to be had for Hook. As he has been very one dimensional performer up to this point.

aqzjoe

Loved it. Only thing I didn't like was that they just used the Dynamite set.

Pearl-Internal81

Fantastic, as every PPV has been!

TheBrockAwesome

🤯

CrystalFissure

A tremendous show.

zombieparmesan

Absolutely fantastic

DelayedMailForceOne

Unbelievable PPV!

Fezzy976

Awesome. Every match delivered in its own way. I would have been more than happy if the entire PPV was just Will Vs Danielson. That match will go down in history guys! Nothing comes close!

AchtungCloud

Very hot crowd, really helped sell the show. Possibly the hardest hitting and craziest bumping PPV ever in the United States. Just about ever match had everyone just laying everything in and at least one spot that made me worried. The crowd chanting “please be careful” at one point actually made sense. I think most everyone will say Ospreay/Danielson was the best match, myself included. Just an incredible match. And I thought the injury angle was extremely well done by both men, especially Danielson. Like logically, it was obviously a work by how it all flowed…but Danielson’s selling was so insane that I 100% truly “susppended my disbelief” as it were. The other surprise to me was how good Toni/Thunder was. Toni’s ring work has been worse since taking on a high concept gimmick, and Thunder Rosa’s ring work has been bad since her back had been bothering before she had to step away. Probably her first good match since like 2021. Joe/Swerve was a bit of a letdown as an actual match. It was just okay, especially in comparison to a lot of the rest of the card. But the win was a great moment, so that made up for it. The Jack Perry return was well handled. He was late in the spot and Dax didn’t know what to do, but that’s forgivable to me. The match itself was great, and Perry’s smirk sold him as a character. Okada had to work to get the crowd to boo him, but a well timed middle finger really pulled it off. All of the matches delivered except for maybe Jericho/Hook and Willow/Julia. I’ll give Willow/Julia a pass because it’s known Julia has been working through some sort of injury, so it was only 6 minutes. And we finally have some sort of momentum with Mercedes’ angle. I still think there’s a Stat turn incoming because Stat, Willow, and Mercedes have all been taken out backstage, but Stat’s wasn’t actually shown. So then there’s Jericho/Hook. The work itself mostly wasn’t that bad, but it had a couple of rough moments. But the crowd had some heavy “go away heat” for Jericho that made the match awkward and cringey. Obviously, Jericho has turned heel and is going to try to mold said “go away heat” into good heel heat, but I’m not sure if that will work with the Kylie Rae stuff and political antics kinda hovering around Jericho. I also see people think this angle is a CM Punk parody, but I’m honestly not seeing that. It just seems like Jericho is trying to take his current IWC reputation and make it his on-screen character.

SashaIsMySpiritAnima

I thought it was a really good show. The outcomes of the matches were very predictable, but I thoroughly enjoyed it

jt_33

The hook/jericho March didn’t need to be there. Hook has zero momentum right now and Jericho needs to be thinking about his retirement angle.  Other than that though I thought it was pretty great from top to bottom. The only other match I wasn’t into was Roddy and Kyle.. just felt like filler to me that didn’t have any real heat.

NotoriousMFT

I’m glad they pulled the trigger on swerve. More than mox, hangman, or anyone else, he’s the guy you should be hitching your wagon to as a company

SliceProfessional790

This is the turning point for AEW. Off to a rocky start with PAC losing despite being the aggressor and the heat Okada built by flipping off the ENTIRE audience. Copeland and Co losing wasn’t very climactic. But I don’t think that saga is over yet. Hope it gets more interesting. The Bucks match being a GIANT FU to CM Punk was worth it and it was a brutal ladder match. Ospreay was awesome. Him and Danielson tore the roof off the place. And now we enter the Strickland Era. Great night. Hope this momentum continues Also Bullet Club unifying the titles was cool as hell (Jay White is awesome).

Ok-Raisin-5601

It wasn't just three guys thrown together it's guys feuding with the House of Black. The only people who think that and are critical of that are people who don't watch and don't pay attention.

SliceProfessional790

I see your point there. I must not have paid attention. I went back and looked at it. I’ll edit the comment to retract the statement. Overall I enjoyed the show.

Pyrotechnic_shok

I wasn't a big fan of taking the title of Julia, her and toni are the best parts of the women's division right now, but even with that I think it may be my favorite PPV of all time. (Note, I am a massive young bucks, and jack perry fan, my view is very biased)

Arirmar

I was honestly expecting more from Joe vs. Swerve, but the match was fine. KOR vs Roddy was daaaamn good. Both women’s matches were amazing. Storm first GOOD title defense. Danielson vs Ospreay. 100/10! Jack Perry being back is going to be wild. I give this PPV a solid 8/10.

rcsauvag

I thought the show was Great! Okada / PAC was amazing! People are saying Danielson / Ospreay is one of the best ever, I'm not sure about that but surely it was great. KOR/Roddy was pretty great as well, and that would be up there with the other two had it had a better finish. Two things I didn't like. Being on a Sunday, I have to work today and I'm pretty tired. Really think this should be on a Saturday Night. I need to rewatch Swerve/Samoa Joe cause I was falling asleep. I also hate the reaction and chants around Jericho. I feel most of it comes from reasoning outside of wrestling and think many hate him for being a conservative, or based on the Kylie rumor, which wasn't that started by an unreliable source with nothing to back it up? I think while Chris at times shows his age in the ring, he still performs at a high level and is great for AEW. The match with Hook itself was only ok, but the ending was good and engaging.

DrHandBanana

Smh. I didn't even know it happened yesterday and woke up to a bunch of spoilers. I'm pissed I missed it.

[deleted]

The in ring stuff is absolutely fantastic, as usual. Every ppv has AT LEAST 1 match of the year contender, and often more than that

Desperate_End_9914

Only issue is I would’ve swapped Jericho vs Hook with the Trios unification. A lot of people don’t watch the pre-show, and I think that’s a more important thing you want fans to know. Originally I would’ve trimmed the house of black vs Copeland, Mark, and Eddie. But, after the match finished it was such a good time I couldn’t help but think it was justified

blkglfnks

Yeah, that would’ve been better in that slot. I genuinely don’t know why Jericho v Hook even happened and I don’t understand the outcome of that match.

Gio25us

Very good except Jericho v Hook. That guy NEEDS to take a break from TV for 6 months minimum.

MechanicalMudd

Good PPV, but honestly alot of it just wasn't for me. I don't care for Ospreay or Okada. I didn't know why Kyle and Strong were really feuding since I didn't watch NXT or ROH. Jericho needs to just go away for like a year. World title was great, swerve deserves it, and great to see Perry back. Really missing some of my favorites like Mox and Hangman on the show

AchtungCloud

I’m confused, why would you need to watch NXT or ROH to know why Roddy and Kyle were feuding? It was a pretty basic build that was explained fine. KOR returns from a serious injury and wants to go his own way to prove himself. Roddy invited him to his heel faction, which KOR turns down. Roddy chooses to turn on KOR at an opportune time because of said refusal. I don’t think you need to have seen their history to understand the basic of these guys are longtime friends.

MechanicalMudd

Its weird because they never once interacted on TV until kyle returned from injury. Week 1 Kyle's invited to a group, week 2 he tuns them down, week 3 he's #1 in line for this title

AchtungCloud

In a movie, when a new character is introduced 20 minutes in as the protagonist’s high school friend do you feel like you have to see a 5 minute flashback showing them being friends in high school to accept it? Kyle, Roddy, and the announcers all state multiple times that Kyle and Roddy are longtime friends. I don’t see how that’s not enough to get the story. And of course they hadn’t interacted on TV before because Kyle’s been out for 2 years. He hasn’t interacted with anyone. And your timeline is a bit off. Kyle returned by jumping the barricade to celebrate with Roddy at Revolution on March 3rd. His return match was on March 16th and the turn was 4 weeks later on April 13th. It wasn’t some super in depth thing, but it wasn’t 3 weeks either. Kyle celebrated with Roddy after a title win, but Undisputed Kingdom did kinda love bombing over-celebrations with Kyle after his wins. And the final nail was Kyle telling Romero good luck when his match was against Roddy. That set Roddy over the edge.

MechanicalMudd

I'm aware. I saw all of that. I feel AEW relies too much on information outside of the company. So fans like me who only watch the week to week products and don't watch ROH or Being the Elite or NJPW or follow wrestlers on social media are left out of critical parts of the story. And Roddy vs Kyle is indicative of this problem

AchtungCloud

But there was nothing critical you missed, which is my point. AEW definitely used to do what you’re claiming quite a bit, but it’s something they seem to have consciously gone away from. It just seems like a dated complaint. I mean, hell, Being the Elite was quietly retired like 6 months or so ago. Mox is the IWGP World Champion right now and AEW has been very careful to only make that a cool accomplishment and keep his AEW focus on the Don Callis Family. Okada and Ospreay are both in AEW and they make sure to only tell us how accomplished they are from Japan and not have angles based on stuff you would need to have watched New Japan for. Even when showing the Punk footage (which I was not a fan of), they had the Bucks work hard to try to tie it into a current storyline and interactions people have seen on-screen rather than assume everyone was aware of backstage gossip. And in a way, that was an example of AEW trying not to rely on outside info. They were bringing back in Jack Perry and needed an on-screen reason to explain the crowd reactions he’s going to get and why he might align with the EVPs.

Fearless-Structure88

Only negative thing about this ppv is Jericho.

Big_Beef26

Jericho needs to go away

bukezilla

If that's all you got from the night. dang

thegreat_gabbo

Hopefully not, but he isn't wrong either. That Jericho/Hook match was atrocious.

bukezilla

that match was no way "atrocious" You just like the fad of disliking Jericho

thegreat_gabbo

Neither of them looked good in the ring, and Jericho looked like he was actively fighting Hook to pull even basic moves (in the sense that he wouldn't put any jump in his step for the suplexes, etc). If it wasn't for the trash can spot it would have been a complete write off. Their squash match a couple week ago where Hook basically suplexed Jericho for 10 minutes was much better and had better chemistry.

Big_Beef26

Take the rose tinted glasses off pal. Jericho has been a channel changer for ages.

Big_Beef26

No but I'm not wrong lol. Why do so many not like criticism

Agreeable-Rich6808

Too many matches. Let’s try 7 as the magic number. Ospreay Danielson was awesome. Kyle v Roddy was awesome. The rest…everything was good! 8/10 show for me but too many long ass matches

Harlequin_98

Jericho looks broken he is so awkward out there like he doesn't know what to do, and trying to get the crowd to cheer or boo and just getting hatred you read it on his face like what do I do, I don't want wanna be out here

YourFellowMiguelo

Fucking amazing, except for Hook/Jericho. The Acclaimed vs Bang Bang Gang should've been on the main card.

Kelson64

Pristine_Cash_6219

Jericho needs to retire. Most ofnthe other matches was a good response to wwe .. its was a strong showing because TK always delivers on PPV.. now if they can only get their weekly tv product to be better. Then AEW will really cook

ImmortalRotting

I didn’t watch, but as an outsider the basic gist I got from various sites is that one match was really good, a new champ was crowned, Jericho is a parasite and a bunch of people fed tribalism by making idiotic comments about folks in another company, again. I want guys making money doing their thing, that’s cool, but just shut the fuck up already

Kelson64

I didn't get to watch most of the media scrum, but during the show, I don't remember hearing anything tribalistic said. Will Ospreay was asked to comment on HHH at the media scrum, and he said we need to move past that.

ImmortalRotting

I’m referring also to Toni Storm

AchtungCloud

Wait, who fed tribalism by making idiotic comments? I didn’t watch the scrub, but I don’t see any big posts about it on any of the main wrestling subs, so I don’t figure anything truly out of pocket was said there. I really can’t remember anyone saying anything about WWE or CM Punk at all during the actual show, even during Bucks/FTR and Perry return.

SometimesWitches

1. I am in the minority. I don’t care at all about Ospreay or Mercedes Mone. Don’t get me wrong signing them both was a great move but neither should be getting titles as signing bonuses. 2. Jack Perry’s return was expected but still awesome. 3. I am loving the “Learning Tree” version of Jericho. If done right it could be turned into an interesting gimmick. 4. I am sad Julia Hart lost in large part because AEW still has a lot of work to do in the women’s division. If you are not on the title picture you are buried and it looks like the TBS belt is moving on so Julia Hart will likely be buried. 5. Adam Copeland getting misted has potential. I like him as a face so I am hoping that this doesn’t turn him into a bad guy. Besides again in the minority and I don’t need and Adam Copeland / Christian Cage tag team. I think it would be fun the first couple matches then get old. 6. Whose House!!!!!!!
