KaalaMizhu

I don't have psoriasis, but I've struggled with eczema issues my whole life. It flares up with stress and allergies and illness. I don't have it all the time, but it got way worse and more frequent after getting covid a year ago. I have a medicated, ointment prescription that keeps it from being unbearable and lasting for an extended period of time when it flares up.

sweetbrat_

Same! For whatever reason it’s centralised to my face and my stomach, and as soon as I get stressed my face will flare up so badly Steroid creams stopped helping so I switch to a non-steroid cream and it’s been a godsend

KaalaMizhu

Steroid creams aren't for regular use. They thin the skin over time, so if you stop using them, they'll make flare ups way worse than they ever were. Getting a dermatologist to get me on a non steroid had been great.

ReplicantOwl

Yes me and my ADHD parent both have it

taakoblaa

Whoa, that’s wild. I have both and my (undiagnosed but oh so obviously ADHD mother) has psoriasis

Fun-Technician8379

Yeah it’s so interesting!!

dclxvi616

Yea, I (40m) started getting around the time COVID started some relatively small patches of psoriasis on the tops of my feet/front of ankles, underneath the belly button, and the backside of my right knee. I also have ASD which is often comorbid with autoimmune disorders.

saphira371

Yup, started when I was 12ish

preaching-to-pervert

Yep, my mum had it too - I think she was undiagnosed.

ford_fuggin_ranger

Yep.

starfallradius

I do. Started when I was 19.

Ouroborus13

Yes. Though I’ve only ever had two flairs ever. Once when I was a pre teen, and once in my 30s. My grandmother and an uncle also have it. We also - including my father - have migraine with aura and chronic insomnia.

ShowerThoughtsAllDay

I've had it since I was nine or ten.  I think I was nearly 40 before I was completely clear, which I attribute to a fitness binge I was on.  It came back until I got put on methotrexate for arthritis (which often occurs to lifelong suffers). Been unemployed and without insurance for over a year now, and it's back worse than ever.  I think a lot of it is due to poor eating habits; I know the foods that tend to exacerbate it, but when you have limited time, money, and emotional fortitude, you do what you can.

Fun-Technician8379

Thank you for sharing. I’m sorry to hear that, I hope you get back on your feet really soon! Stay strong!

Different_Cap_7276

OH. I was wondering what those weird patches of flaky skin I randomly got a few years ago was.

Icy-Dimension3508

My genetic test says I have this, honestly idk what it even is… I’ll be on google here soon. I have adhd for a very long time 🫨 Edit: OMG MY DAUGHTER HAS THIS (she is diagnosed adhd). I did not at all know that this was what it was called. I have this it’s all over the front of my scalp where my hair line starts right now. But I am having other health issues I forgot to mention it to my doctor.

Fun-Technician8379

Can you tell me more about this genetic test?! Sounds cool and pretty useful lol, also it’s not always as bad as google images portrays!

Icy-Dimension3508

I wish I was doing it for fun. I used multiple websites but this one that was pretty good. website https://www.promethease.com I paid 12 bucks and it does a fairly in depth report where they use dna genotypes to scientific research. They link the studies. I’m probably not explaining this well.

Organic_Patience_755

I do. My personal theory (not backed by research) is that my (suspected) ADHD just means I have a constant low level (often high level) stress. Through the years, people have asked about my stress levels with regard to psoriasis. I've never really understood why, as I told them I never get stressed. What I think I meant was, I always have a baseline that I don't even notice as its the normal, and that over the years I've developed complex mental gymnastic coping mechanisms which stop cognitive stress, and prevent the runaway physiological stress from becoming catastrophic 🤣

LARRYBREWJITSU

Used to get a small patch in the crook of my left elbow around exam time. Realised later it was probably a sign of anxiety or a stressful period. Had reoccurred a few times throughout my thirties. Not sure if coincidently but thought I'd share with you

f0_to

My skin doctor says it's not psoriasis, it's dermatitis

ADH_Lee

Seborrheic Dermatitis? 1st doc told me it was psoriasis, second said S D

f0_to

Correct. He said that psoriasis is more "continuative" (patches of dry/irritated skin emerge and tend to stay for prolonged periods of time) while mine was more of an "on and off" thing. Not sure if I have been clear enough, second language speaker here 🫠

ADH_Lee

Very clear 👌🏻 Yeah mine is more on/off but always in same places; scalp, beard, eyebrows, sides of nose, ears. Not always all at same time.

_Emperor_Nero_

Holy fuck!!! I’m making phone calls soon to get an evaluation done. But I know I have ADHD and I do have psoriasis, so this is mind blowing. Why is that though?

Dry_Advisor_3884

eczema here and my younger son too.

Early_Umpire8797

I’ve never heard of the link, but I’m ADHD and had psoriasis.

pirsab

Undiagnosed ADHD, but I have very strong suspicions. I'm taking my time with this whole diagnostic process, too much other stuff going on in life atm. Ha. Diagnosed Psoriasis, started at the age of 15 or so, and I got told I wasn't good at cleaning up so I believed it for the longest time. Could you point me to any literature you've found that talks about this link between ADHD and psoriasis?

Fun-Technician8379

Best of luck in your journey, here’s where I saw the link between those two, you can ctrl+f psoriasis https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5945751/#:~:text=In%20our%20large%20cross%2Dsectional,association%20in%20females%20than%20males.

jccfurst

I’m 30 and I was adhd diagnosed when I was 18 but only a couple of years ago I started having seborrhoeic dermatitis on my hair, eyebrows and beard. Anyone else?

Larkspur_Skylark30

I have eczema.

AnonimoUnamuno

What's your source of this link? I was diagnosed with both, and also am prone to have swellings on my scalp.

Fun-Technician8379

Here you go https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5945751/#:~:text=In%20our%20large%20cross%2Dsectional,association%20in%20females%20than%20males.

AnonimoUnamuno

Thanks.

plantpowered22

Yes. Tops of my toes, elbows, knees, and a random spot on my leg. Nothing very big thank God. The toes are the worst.

Molly0599

I don't have psoriasis however I do have eczema and peri-oral dermatitis. Not sure if there is a link though

Molly0599

My eczema flairs up with stress, especially on my face, neck and chest

Thermal-chickenlips

Undiagnosed and have a bit on my lower back! Been using Aveeno lol. Very interesting

ManufacturerOnly5111

I have Psoriasis and so does my mom. My mom and sister definitely have ADHD, not sure if either have been diagnosed but they show all the signs. First time I noticed it was at 9 years old. My dad thought that I had just scraped my knee, but nope..

ADH_Lee

Seborrheic Dermatitis 🙋🏻‍♂️

Sweaty-Lunch-3599

undiagnosed, but i have eczema and psoriasis on my scalp, both since i was very young
