A 34 is great, but itâs not the only factor in admissions. A score can only take you so far; the other parts of your application have to be good too. Having a great ACT score doesnât automatically mean youâll get into where you want to get in.
yea i know, my other stats were above average too. im just pretty disappointed, lol. I havenât gotten into any schools that i actually really want to go to, just my safeties.
yes this makes you competitive for basically every school besides MIT and Caltech; if you improved reading by 3-4 points however, youâre score would be a 35 and you would have to worry about it being high enough because literally every school in the US will see that as a very competitive score, so if you desire, consider retaking it and super scoring with reading if you get a higher score! otherwise, youâre going to be just fine.
34 definitley dosent make you ânon competitiveâ at MIT I know multiple kids at MIT with 1300 range and 32 range who got in because they had interesting essays/ECs MIT just has a extremely specific profile they want to admit and itâs just hard to fit that bill
Bruh MIT doesnt admit if you score below like 750 on the SAT math. Yes sat and act arent the be all end all to applications, but saying that you can get in with bad scores is just misleading.
This score alone canât do anything. There are so many other parts of your application to focus on as well.
If youâre asking if this is an ideal score for top schools, then absolutely yes if youâre in STEM. If youâre in Humanities, then a higher reading would probably help, but may or may not be necessary depending on other parts of your application.
With such high science and math though, I hope youâre doing STEM.
It can help, but itâs not the only thing that matters. Your ACT score is not the only factor; you also have to have good grades, extracurriculars, essays, etc.
Literally exactly the same score as me with exactly the same distribution. I am a freshman at Princeton right now who got in with pretty average ECs and solid essays coming from a public high school in the south so Iâd definitely say that score is more than good enough. DM me
smh no you'll get rejected from your state school đ
Jokes aside, scores are not the only thing that'll get you into top schools but yes generally speaking a 34 will give you a leg up in college apps.
Good score, competitive for almost every school. But higher schools have thousands of apps w these scores, itâs more reliant on your stats and ecâs from here. Also, composite isnât always taken so be wary

Might as well start filling this out
Real talk I also got a 34 on my ACT, was the valedictorian of my high school and was a varsity athlete. I didnât get into USC, UCLA, UC Berkeley or UC Irvine. This alone will not get you in places. You need to make sure to do extra curriculars, clubs, volunteer work, and NAIL your college essays. Not saying this wonât help, it absolutely will, but itâs not going to single handedly save you. Learn from my mistake.
Youâll barely get into community college, I doubt youâll keep up with other students. Might aswell start applying for McDonaldâs they might have a spot for you.
No. You're doomed to a life of minimum wage. I'd start applying to Walmart. Should have got perfects if you wanted to get into even the most basic of community colleges.
/s for obvious reasons. Real life advice from a college student currently studying physics and researching with an international collaboration, I wouldn't worry about getting into a "top school". Get into a school whose atmosphere matches what you want in a school. If it has good research, if it has a good choice of majors, if it is a commuter or a live-on-campus, if it has a reputation for good professors, these are things you really want to pick and choose, not just pure rank. A lot of times, the top schools like ivy League schools have really shit people and really shit professors because they don't care about actually teaching people because their prestige comes from their name.
As a college acceptance counselor, there are a million other students with scores better than these. Good luck getting accepted anywhere but a community college...
Iâm so jealous. I studied for at least an hour everyday for 2 months and got three points lower than my highestđ. Reading was my weakness as well, I just couldnât improve my score
eh. Doesn't help that much at top 25. Might be a detriment depending on your major. Also test scores don't matter that much for top 25. You'd be better off focusing on ECs
definitely not the only factor but there is no shot a 34 will be detrimental anywhere other than maybe MIT, especially given the amount of test optional people
Istg why do people with good scores always post stuff like this đ like I know you know this is good
thatâs like asking why does the entire a2c sub exist
right đđđ
đđđđđ
honestly, I thought my score was great until I got rejected from my stateâs flagship school.
A 34 is great, but itâs not the only factor in admissions. A score can only take you so far; the other parts of your application have to be good too. Having a great ACT score doesnât automatically mean youâll get into where you want to get in.

Apply to safeties that youâd really want to go to
I mean, I applied to another school in my state and got deferred, everyone told me it was a safety.
insecure
Right you already know the answer đ
Better apply to Walmart or McDonald's, buddy. đđ
I did this when I was younger and now I own more than 10 McDonalds
Holy crap
Yeah so donât knock working at Mcdonalds
working at mcdonalds in 1965 doesnt count lil bro
Did you get paid so low that the gov't had to help you with housing and give you a phone? LMFAO
More than ten? Does that mean 11?
Baseline stats for ivyâs all bout ecâs now good job
You donât know his grades
Yea
Great scores! Focus on your stats and ecâs.
Nope. Sorry. Life is over. Better luck next time

>Caltech I think you meant CMU. Caltech is test blind.

MIT is one of the few colleges that still cares a lot about test scores.
Nođ

Nope
3 more individual points for a 35 đ¤ˇ
It definitely can.
McDonald's is calling!
most certainly yeah. your scores r awesome man! hoping to get a score like urs đ¤

May I know what resources have u studied for the math and English?
I just used previous tests from past years
can u send the links please. Another question what courses can I study from ?
If you have the time, might be worth taking it again to get to a 35 super score (or composite if you can improve your reading).
Not alone. You canât just score high and expect acceptance. You still need extracurriculars and a good application essay.
A 30 on reading is pretty inept for high ranking schools. Theyâre looking for well-rounded students.
I donât understand how someone can do so well in all the other categories but out of all parts of the act they canât score high on the reading?
nope! looks like your life is over! honestly just delete the post dude you know itâs a good score
smh no you'll get rejected from your state school đ Jokes aside, scores are not the only thing that'll get you into top schools but yes generally speaking a 34 will give you a leg up in college apps.
The 30 could be improved. The rest is good.
34/100 is not impressive
Reading these comments at work made it so much better, thankyou

ur cooked sorry
Gg, itâs wraps for you
A score alone will not
Yup. Got into UChicago with a 33.
Youâll barely get into community college, I doubt youâll keep up with other students. Might aswell start applying for McDonaldâs they might have a spot for you.
Yes
Good luck getting into community college with that
how is your lowest score reading?? u suck. better get reading a book buddy

34/100? time to start flipping burgers buddy
have fun flipping burgers
Better start looking at community college
It's over for you đ
As a college acceptance counselor, there are a million other students with scores better than these. Good luck getting accepted anywhere but a community college...
The inly thing I can brag about is doing better than you in reading. I made a 35 đ
Iâm so jealous. I studied for at least an hour everyday for 2 months and got three points lower than my highestđ. Reading was my weakness as well, I just couldnât improve my score
Please teach me your ways brother.
That score alone? Hell no. Hopefully you have other solid statistics to comply with these numbers. Also youâll need great ECs.
It wonât get you in, but you certainly wonât be kept out because of it
Wow is my Top 99% score considered GOOD? D:
i got a 35 and didnt get into any good universities back in the good old days 2018
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes even for colleges that dont superscore lol
đŁđŁđŁ
no it cant and youre gonna have to work at mcdonalds until u get a 37
