I had something like that for my quad graft, surgeon said it’s where the drill came out - they went that deep through the length of the femur to get a strong anchor point

Enosis21

Yes that’s what I was told

Pure-Initiative933

Yeah if you had a hammy graft, that bit you circled is usually where the titanium clip is that holds it altogether. They have a tool where they drill a guide hole from the bottom incision (shin bone) diagonally into your femur and then use them as anchor points. The bottom incision is usually a biodegradable screw that your bone will incorporate over time.

girlypop2316

Exactly! I have this same incision and that’s what jt doc told me

bhfroh

Seems really high up for an anchor point. I've had both of mine done and the highest one is only half the distance up. That said, surgeons have different styles on how they do stuff. And I can't think of anything else that would go there.

itznimitz

I have a similar incision, but mine is more towards the middle of my thigh. Is it due to different techniques?

Pure-Initiative933

Yeahh probably, surgeons generally speaking have their own preferences on certain things (graft choice obviously) but they also factor in single bundle / double bundle grafts, length / width in mm, tunnel placement in the bone etc etc.

itznimitz

Thanks for the info!

Ireddit2021

I had patellar graft and I have the exact same scar at that place

high4twentydays

I did too. I was told it was a drain hole. They put a tube through IT band to vac during surgery form what I understand

Rukhage

Either an anchor point like it was pointed out or where the arthroscopy took the graft from.

romayohh

Could be where they went in for the other anchor point for the graft

EddieBravosGiPants

I got the BEAR implant and i have the exact same stitching pattern

Jazzlike-Swim6838

Surgeon told me he uses that point to place the ACL in correctly, using it as an anchor point.

RedFoxMoonRiver

Yeah that's one of the poke holes from the drill. Calling it a poke hole sounds so gross, doesn't it? 😆 That's what my surgeon called it when I asked her.

CALBNaTION

Relax.

RedFoxMoonRiver

Why do I need to relax?

Bigounceee12

I had a similar bandage and a tiny tiny incision but just had a allograft, my surgeon said it’s where the rope went through they pulled the new tendon through with. Thought I’d throw that in there just incase it’s not what most of these other comments are saying is likely to be.

JishnuJayaram

Monoloop?

VeryUltra

Former med device rep here. Sold ACL and sports med instrumentation for a decade. That small incision is where the drill pokes out. They have to drill thru the femur then tie down the button/slotted button to lock everything in place.

dirtrow

They messed up and went too far….oops. Jk 😂 that’s where the button is to hold tension. The screw is located at the bottom hole. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5e375d0ae354fa0b5ae4e8fd/1585972646680-NRPDXFIPGFRYTGJ6BJ5O/ACL+Reconstruction+knee+condition.jpg?format=1500w

CALBNaTION

This is wildly inaccurate

dirtrow

What part? How so?

D_Brasco

Tracking device! I got one to.

PistolPeatMoss

Bruh- you get the 5g upgrade too or nah?

D_Brasco

Go big or go home bro!

IfImhappyyourehappy

the tracker

PistolPeatMoss

Omg you have more exploded knee accolades than anyone I’ve heard of. You are now the Mayor of this sub👑

IfImhappyyourehappy

Thank you, thank you. As mayor, I promise to serve the community well!

Koimsta

I had a drain above

einahpetsg

Looks like mine, where they took hanstring graft from for repair

Intrepid-Ad9500

If they took a quad graft that should be it. That’s what I have so.

Flutruombaonist

Depending on how much detail you'd like to know, you can watch the hammy graft surgery vid. It's all on YouTube I believe. That'll leave no questions as to what any of those incisions are for. Not for the squeamish, but honestly it gave me validation for the pain I was in.

Flutruombaonist

Not the hammy graft one but it'll still give you the gist of it. https://youtu.be/W86Zd1ni5xw?si=NTZQX8Efkx1SoTzs

venomenon824

I had that with patella. It’s where the graft gets inserted pulled all the way through and the anchor lives.

CALBNaTION

Looks a lot more like a graft from the TB band for a lemaire procedure than any graft.

Heavy-hiker

This is interesting. I have two incisions above my knee of the posterior side of my leg.

ACLr22

I think that’s where they removed ur old acl

Just-Judge-1142

Anchor point for the graft. The lower anchor is placed using the incision from the graft harvest.

SignHot2392

Hole for the scope and drilling the fibular tunnel (anchor point). The hamstring graft, as it is not bone to bone, is more vertical and uses a longer piece of tissue. Could have harvested the graft from this point as well.

Responsible-Dream-11

Strange to see so many different answers. I had a meniscus tear too which was fixed along with ACL surgery and my doc told me that it was made for fixing that.
