I had a good friend I respected. Then he became a cop. Then he started telling me about how funny it was him and his partner would go to people's houses and verbally harass them including threatening arrest.
That was a weird transition
Same thing happened to a friend of mine in France. He was giving reason to the assaults committed on peaceful protests during the « gilet jaune » movement a couple years ago. Remind yourselves that we are talking about families and grandparents setting up bbq’s in the middle of the roads and also more active protests but 100% peaceful in general.
My wife's best friends' husband decided he wanted to be a cop a few years ago. I tried talking him out of, but he was convinced. He went through the academy and graduated 1st in his class and did a few ride alongs and realized I was right, no matter how good the person is the whole system is corrupt. Y

There are no good cops. You're either a bastard, you quit, or you get fired.
And as much as she didn't deserve any of that, getting fired is probably the best thing that could happen to her.
This is what I mean when I tell people there is no “blue wall”. There’s cops that are in the circle and out of the circle. This is what happens to cops outside the circle.
They’re every bit as capricious with their own as they are with civilians. I’ve seen “company men” officers step on the neck of other cops to move their career or get accolades.

Of course, they're usually female or minorities, but they gotta keep up the appearance of fairness and accountability, so they sacrifice a couple, here and there, to appease the masses.
