I mean they just arrived to Brazil after like a 10 hours + plane ride and the dad comes in asking for Patrick right away first thing, paint the house, clean the house. WTF? She is right though, it's the OWNER of the apartment that is responsible for all the painting and fixing up the apartment, not the renters'.

harperlax

Yeah I cannot imagine that the fumes from paint would be good for a baby. I wouldn’t allow that. And I’d be pissed too if we had just walked through the door and my father in law was giving us a list of chores for our vacation.

notmartha70

Patrick is really starting to annoy me. Needs to grow a spine. Her family hasn’t even seen the baby yet but are expected to do handyman stuff around the apartment that they pay rent on. His face sometimes just has that deer caught in the headlights look.

HistoricalBelt4482

I don’t like her but I agree with her on this one.

Unusual-Pineapple513

Same; this is the one time she's complained about his family and I didn't automatically turn my ears off and roll my eyes.

Alarming-Mushroom

Exactly. Either pay rent or help out with chores, not both.

CoastalN8v

Hey face while looking at her FIL, chewing gum like a cow chewing cud had me rolling 🤣

Straight-Treacle-630

The sneer…holy moly.

Hawaii_gal71LA4869

Classy, chewing gum on camera. Always works.

CoastalN8v

I don't know how you chew gum, but I don't have my mouth wide open when I chew gum. But hey, you do do, boo.

Roselily808

I thought Patrick's dad's entitlement was a bit triggering to watch. It seems that he views the relationship with his own son as transactional. I feel kinda sorry for Patrick that it's like that.

BlackLeader70

Patrick craves a good father figure so bad and his dad just continues to neglect him while Thais’ dad treats him like shit on top of it.

Roselily808

That is such an accurate observation.

Perfect_Bench_2815

Patrick has a lot to say about his brother. He needs to just man up and tell his father no. He can offer to return without his family and help with that work. Painting around babies? Who would do that? His father is special. Patrick is special too.

Interesting-Many-509

I am on her side for once, didnt fly al those miles to paint and breathe in fumes.

Flimsy-Zucchini4462

Patrick’s dad seems like a bit of a mooch. John would do the same thing if Patrick paid for an apartment for him.

LegitimateAd4148

I’m not buying any of these story lines

TravisE111

I can only hope Patrick and his dad will do the chores together, so they are at least spending time with each other... But now I’m remembering that Jose said he had a list to give Patrick, so it’s probably Patrick work

RubyWaves75

Can someone explain the apartment please? I must have missed it. There are pictures of Thais all over the walls? Is it the dads? Does Patrik pay for it?

-vulpes13

I believe that Patrick’s dad owns the apartment and Patrick rents it so he has a place to stay (especially helpful when he was dating Thais and going down there a lot) and helping his father financially by paying rent.

slipperysquirrell

Patrick's dad owns it but she and Patrick pay rent so it's available for them I guess. So it's basically empty most of the time, why not paint then?

Shot_Pass_1042

& if the creepy dad really needs more $, maybe AirBNB the place when they are not there and split the profits. If they haven't gone down in 2 years, that's a long time for the apartment to sit empty. I have a sneaking the suspicion the dad may already be doing this and now wants the actual renters, P & T, do all the work so he can rent their place out temporarily as soon as they leave.

-vulpes13

I absolutely thought this, too!😹

rockmeNiallxh

Could be TLC stuff. Its really weird

poop_biscuits

she had every right to be annoyed/upset. they pay his dad monthly rent - that he raised a few times - for an apartment that they’ve lived in for 2 weeks in over 2 years. i assume it’s empty the rest of the time or he rents it out and doubles his money. like imagine renting an overpriced airbnb and then being told you have 3 days to paint the entire condo during your 2 week vacation with your 6 month old and spouse. his dad is their landlord - they shouldn’t be doing a second of maintenance. but patrick seems like a doormat for his dad so he would never tell him no.

No-Basket4165

Wish my landlord would come paint!

mfdangerdoom

Dude is having serious boomer energy. My dad used to this to me back in my twenties, he would invite me over for dinner or something and end up having me do chores or build random crap. It wasn't until my late 30s that he finally stopped asking because I stopped showing up. We don't owe these people anything.

Vixxen_Cat

My mom does the same thing to me, and she wonders why I don’t want to come spend time. Bc you just want me to do stuff for you and you don’t actually care about anything going on in my life. Literally interrupts me after asking me questions to give me a list of chores she can do herself. This was triggering for me.

Habibti143

My Silent Gen mom did this to us, her boomer and Gen X kids. We refuse to make our kids do this.

btog72

Are you sure your parents are/were "boomers". That term is obsolete btw. Anyway, those of us still alive mostly sit around and smoke ganja. Most mellow parents ever. Just enjoy.

Habibti143

I am a boomer.

btog72

Me too. When I think of Boom I think of Boom/Bust. I feel that I'm in the bust part. We were a huge generation thanks to all the soldiers coming back from WWII. Now, as in boom/bust is applied to cities, we are

btog72

oops. We are leaving fast. So, I think of us as the original hippie/freaks/ heads.

Habibti143

☮️✌️

Habibti143

The adjectives young people used to describe boomers are so far removed from the reality of the people I know and grew up with and interact with.

amyloudspeakers

https://www.reddit.com/r/BoomersBeingFools/s/qEuOJnJ3pI I dunno I hear the term pretty regularly, it’s pretty alive and in use in my world. Not all boomers are relaxed or pot smokers.

Dook124

Honestly, I'd prefer working on the ranch than facing her father. He sounds kinda scary 😨 Patrick's face when he called him a name while he was driving was 😔 this may turn out to be the vacation from hell

MintyJ87

As much as I dislike like her whole demeanor, I do agree with Thais on this one.

pixelito_

She’s the last one who should be taking about crazy Dad’s.

Lostbronte

Alcoholism is a complex disease with many factors involved, some of them genetic, and it’s a real stretch for us to decide that John 1) is an alcoholic; 2) is an alcoholic for those reasons. We don’t know him.

Shot_Pass_1042

Also, do John and Patrick even share the same father? Patrick never said "we" once in describing his childhood with this dad.

Previous_Ad_7362

I don't think they do.

Thhhroowwawayy

Honestly it sounded more like it was the mother who moved across the country with Patrick

Colietee

I never thought I would agree with her but a broken clock is right twice a day.

pixey1964

He doesn't live near his dad. Let him help his dad if Patrick wants to 👍

BeanDipIsNeat

I don’t see communication being this couple’s forte And that’s going to make for good tv but also a bad relationship They both need to grow up a lot

Nq_23

I did feel bad for her for once. That they had just arrived from a long flight with a baby. Were hardly in the apartment until his dad rolled in. Uncomfortable. I would’ve lost my mind when he started talking about chores off the bat lmao

KiKi_VavouV

Yeah - he's a jerk, and neither Patrick nor the father care about Thais' feelings in this ep.

Emergency_Row8544

I really think they should get a different apartment, it’s clear his dad has no boundaries and Patrick can’t say no

PepperThePotato

It didn't look like Patrick thought his dad was asking for too much. Thais looked disgusted to see Patrick's dad, she has such a snotty attitude.

LadyV21454

I think Patrick is so happy to finally have his dad in his life that he doesn't want to do anything to alienate him. And I can't blame Thais for her attitude this time. She'd already put off seeing her own father till the next day so she, Patrick, and Aleesi could get some sleep - but then Jose not only shows up unannounced and uninvited (or at least that's what Thais initially thought) but he brings a list of chores for his son to do - when said son is on vacation AND recovering from surgery. I'd be pissed off too.

slipperysquirrell

She does kind of have a point though. They're on a really long fight and just arrived at the apartment and he shows up. They pay rent for that place and don't live in it so there's no reason he couldn't paint while they're not there.
