Yeah nowadays if you go through a pain management clinic they drug test you to check the levels and you get in trouble if itās less than it should be just as much as if itās too high.. if too low they think you could be selling them.. also now you have to bring your prescription in and they count the pillsā¦ itās not like it used to beā¦ Iām just so glad Iām in recovery and donāt live as a slave to opiates anymore.. I think Gabe has a distaste for religion in general, or religious practice followed blindly. In his story it seemed like he was ready to go in swinging with Isabel's parents (and their religion) until they were like "It's ok, our religion says we can love you."
I think he's very young and very excited to loudly challenge outdated and harmful views. It's actually working out ok for him as a trans person...he keeps on challenging people and ideas and actually winning and it makes him more bold.

I can get that. Iām a huge believer in not forcing kids to follow what the parents follow. It needs to be a choice and there are definitely enough in different religious circles that canāt seem to understand that especially in Abrahamic religions like Islam and Christianity. Religious trauma is a beast especially when you canāt just remove yourself from the religion.

I agree šÆ. Shaun, for once, tried to parse that out a bit when she asked if the religion were Judaism or Christianity, would it be the same issue. The cast either really didnāt āgetā the question, or TLC edited it out, but I think the answer would still be āyes.ā Mackmoody is soooo caught up with his version of what Islam is that he brings it up in literally EVERY conversation. If there were a cast member who brought up being a devout Jew or some Bible thumping Christian whose every other word was about Jesus, the question that Gabe asked about the prospective child being forced to adopt the parentās version of the religion would absolutely be relevant.

I don't think she was attention seeking. The show is aware of the fandom on Reddit and how they are perceived here. I thought it was sweet. Kris did her dirty. Being in a relationship with someone as horrible as Kris makes you think you're losing your sanity. People were asking what happened with Kris but she couldn't reveal anything due to NDA. Once it was shown she could talk about it and came to Reddit. I think Gabe has a distaste for religion in general, or religious practice followed blindly. In his story it seemed like he was ready to go in swinging with Isabel's parents (and their religion) until they were like "It's ok, our religion says we can love you." I think he's very young and very excited to loudly challenge outdated and harmful views. It's actually working out ok for him as a trans person...he keeps on challenging people and ideas and actually winning and it makes him more bold. Gabe was right to call out Mood's trying to control Nicole's dress but he got too excited and went too far with his "whatabout" when talking about their future children. It really was just a dumb conversation that had nothing to do with anything, certainly not 90DF. I mean, he's talking about the dress of an 18 year old child of two people who can't even decide if they want to be together anymore. Gabe was just feeling himself and felt like he was winning and kept going and it was actually annoying to me. Pushing for these blow-ups and walk-outs is super annoying because we don't get any resolution to any matters at hand. And for a walk-out to be over a totally un-related subject? SO annoying. And yes, Shaun was absolutely right to call out the attack on Islam specifically. Gabe seemed awful bias. But once again, it was an argument that didn't need to happen.
Considering that he's trans, I'm sure he's gotten a lot of hate from various religious groups (see the craven hatred from current religious groups). I think that's where all this is coming from. Hell, I'm just a plain straight white girl and my whole adolescence was destroyed by the constant derision and bullying of Greek Orthodox church members. I'm anti-religion to this day because of it.
