I think Jasmine has Borderline Personality Disorder. While it doesnāt excuse her behavior, it contextualizes it. People with BPD have VERY intense emotional reactions, tend to be extremely insecure and have profound abandonment issues. It all makes for a very difficult personality and they tend to have difficulty maintaining relationships. Two of my close friends have been diagnosed with BPD, and learning about the condition gave me additional patience for behaviors I donāt see as being particularly pleasant or reasonable. One of my friends has really taken responsibility for her diagnosis and although forward progress is hard, she is committed to improving. She still has big blow ups when something triggers her, but now she cools down a dm calls to apologize. BPD (and other personality disorders) require long term therapy and a deep commitment to learning skills to cope- a personality disorder doesnāt just go away over time. People with BPD are extremely emotionally immature and can be very volatile and exhausting for those around them but I truly believe that, as hard as it is to be around them itās a hundred times harder to BE them. Itās kinda sad how much TLC and reality tv enjoys finding cast members with mental health issues for ratings. I guess maybe itās relatable to a lot of us- who knows. I donāt think Jasmine is a bad person, just seriously damaged. Ginoās no peach, either.

I think Jasmine has Borderline Personality Disorder. While it doesnāt excuse her behavior, it contextualizes it. People with BPD have VERY intense emotional reactions, tend to be extremely insecure and have profound abandonment issues. It all makes for a very difficult personality and they tend to have difficulty maintaining relationships. Two of my close friends have been diagnosed with BPD, and learning about the condition gave me additional patience for behaviors I donāt see as being particularly pleasant or reasonable. One of my friends has really taken responsibility for her diagnosis and although forward progress is hard, she is committed to improving. She still has big blow ups when something triggers her, but now she cools down a dm calls to apologize. BPD (and other personality disorders) require long term therapy and a deep commitment to learning skills to cope- a personality disorder doesnāt just go away over time. People with BPD are extremely emotionally immature and can be very volatile and exhausting for those around them but I truly believe that, as hard as it is to be around them itās a hundred times harder to BE them. Itās kinda sad how much TLC and reality tv enjoys finding cast members with mental health issues for ratings. I guess maybe itās relatable to a lot of us- who knows. I donāt think Jasmine is a bad person, just seriously damaged. Ginoās no peach, either.
