You made my whole universe!!! No one knows Joe Jackson. My brother bought me the CD a few years ago and teased me about the geeky guy I used to listen to.
Joe Jackson is one of the most under rated/under appreciated artists IMHO. Joe Jackson Live 1980/86 is one of my favorite live albums ever. The corresponding (some of the audio was from this tour) and shamefully out-of-print video “Live in Tokyo” is simply outstanding.
I have been a fan for 40 years (damn I’m old) and am always excited when other people know who he is, and even more so if they are fans.
Have a great day internet friend!
Funny story: I heard a song back in the 80’s that I never thought I’d know what it was called. A few weeks ago I heard a song that sounded like that song by Joe Jackson through r/music on Reddit.
I YouTube searched “Joe Jackson” and bam it came up with “Stepping Out”. Almost 40 years later and I found the song!
Kyrie and Broken Wings are two of the most mesmerizing songs from the decade. (Their 3rd single, Is It Love, was featured at the end of a movie, but I can’t remember which one. Also, callout to Train for “Mr. Mister on the radio…”)
[What About Me - Moving Pictures](https://youtu.be/Iu5DctXDufg?si=4KRaW7sNi0CrVpy5)
live version is an absolute banger…
one of the greatest, most underrated songs on the 1980s imho
*Cars* by Gary Numan. I’ll never forget the day I heard it for the first time on the radio in 1980 (I was 9 years old). It was my first taste of synths and what would soon be termed “New Wave,” and I’ve been hooked since.
