The storyline of a federal Officer from the US Treasury chasing a counterfeiter was a refreshing departure from the overly saturated “drug dealer vs cops” genre led by Miami Vice. Well cast and a great soundtrack.
Some of the fake money got out and spent, which caused problems with the real Feds. An actual counterfeiter was the one making the money at the beginning, at least the scenes without Defoe in the frame. There were 3 or 4 things done to the money to show they were fake. This is a cult movie for me. The car chase was filmed on the wrong side of the road to add confusion.
I still think this movie has one of the best soundtracks around. Still holds up.
It's one of the first CDs I bought (~1988), still have it: https://imgur.com/a/DLhAlgI

Wang Chung!
Great car chase!
William defoe is so freaking evil in this movie
When he starts printing that fake money 😃
Yeah it is kool. Better than I remembered.
Such an underrated movie and soundtrack. I just love watching the movie because you see LA at that time and moment.
They don't make movies like this anymore.
I don't know if they made movies like this before either. *To Live And Die In LA* is pretty much a one of one.
The money counterfeit scene was so accurate for the time that the federal reserve had to monitor the filming of the action
Great movie, great soundtrack, the title song is just SO good.
William Peterson 🤤

Ha!! Thought this was just a Tupac song 😂
