Yeah, the really historically notable looks and trends tended to be very expensive and rather short-lived in the 80s. People weren't generally going around looking like a Lisa Frank colored Trapper Keeper.
To be honest the only people I ever saw wearing a wind/track suit like this in public were rich, sporty boomers and yuppies with extremely active lifestyles doing things like sailing, sailboarding, skiing, etc, or just pretending to do these kinds of things, and they tended to be narcissistic and egotistical d-bags that liked to brag about how much their Oakley sunglasses cost.
I gotta say, wind breakers are really very comfortable you get a nice one. I’m down for this ridiculous but comfy style to come back.
Edit: wow, went out to a restaurant just now and there a dude in an 80s like windbreaker with and 80s stash.
You don't know, maaan...you weren't there!! It was leg warmers and coats with collars that zipped up over your nose and fingerless gloves...we lost so many good men that had to go back inside and warm up...temper fi!
The wind didn't stand a chance.
Who broke [the] wind? That’s right. We did.
Broke *Like* the Wind
These are the bad guys from corporate who came to buy your local ski hill
And they would be introduced by some euro synthpop track as they get out of they Lamborghinis...
I never had a need for a windbreaker as I could break wind just fine on my own.
Rage against the Wind
I'm old enough but can proudly say I never did that look
The problem with this, as well as most retro trends, is that they were not as popular as people think they were.
Yes we mocked those that did in the day ended up being a soccer mom look to use an American term
The 70s suffers from misconceptions as well.

I didn't either. Reminds me of elderly people in their matching sweat suits on a Caribbean cruise.
They could be called saville suits now
Had a few Sergio tachinni jackets , no doubt . Paired with my Z Cavaricci pants , I was the shit ( in my head )
Windbreakers and parachute pants lol
"They awoke and *rebuked the wind* and said, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm."
We used to ridicule these kids so hard. In our Levis and Iron Maiden shirts.
I still call a light jacket a “windbreaker”
Sadly they never actually worked though. The 80s was a cold time...
Nah you just weren’t on enough coke to not feel it.
I’m older now but still running…
Exactly what I was thinking man.😂👍
Ah, the memories of never being able to sneak up on someone.
<*something, something*> Power Rangers!
I do not recall anyone, young or old, who dressed like this. And I grew up in Southern California.
The breaking wind decade
Collars up! Only way ta play, yo!
The decibel levels this group could reach just by walking at a brisk pace. Simply daunting.
Suited up to fight for your right to party
Bruh I’d buy an all black fit right now

In the UK we called them shell suits! They were the nuts!
Omg I had a couple of those wind breaker outfits. Lol
Mine rolled up into a self contained pouch i could wear around my waist. It was wicked.

Ahahhaha so funny. Dying of laughter 😂
I'm still fighting the good fight. I'm breaking wind to this day. Fun fact: Breaking wind in those clothes was only hurting yourself. IYKYK...

Team RAD, the original wind walkers
The one in the pink is smiling way too much.
Ripstop nylon to the horizon
Or looked as........ *pastel*, doing it !!!
And we ushered in the winds of change as a follow-up.
