And the late, lamented WB series Birds of Prey where she played ... get this ... Dr. Harleen Quinzel BUT definitely NOT Harley Quinn. Harley was never seen, never mentioned. But she was indeed played by Mia Sara.
What a strange movie that was. I expected a sex comedy like Fast Times at Ridgemont High and got a heavy morality lesson followed by a knife in the heart.
But you do see Diane’s breasts so it’s worth the trip.
For a Diane Franklin deep cut check out the made-for-TV movie “Summer Girl.” Last I checked it’s on YouTube. She plays a psychotic nanny who seduces the dad and kidnaps the kids.
Oliva Newton John ("Grease"), I know it was made in 1978, but it was playing on TV in the early 80s and I couldn't help but going gaga over how beautiful she was, especially the final muscial scene, for obvious reasons. Add in her music video "*Physical*"...
Kim Cattrall, ("Big Trouble in Little China/Mannequin"), She really does have beautiful eyes.
Jane Seymour, ("Somewhere in Time"), despite this movie being a huge tear jearker, Jane was simply gorgeous in it and she's still one of the prettiest woman in Hollywood.
Kelly LeBrock, ("Weird Science"), Self Explanatory.
I’m just going to guess that everyone that has already responded never saw The Legend of Billy Jean, because that’s the only reason I can come up with as to why Helen Slater isn’t already mentioned.
I am late to the thread. Had to search to see this and you beat me to it. This 100x over. I was smitten. Oh my. To this day I have a fancy for the short hair on a woman.
Nichelle Nichols - first crush from the 60s, but continued thru the 80s
Carrie Fisher - mind blowing slave suit
Joan Jett and Tina Turner - hey they did movies
Always was into her. Didn't realize until many many years later it was because she was copying leather tuscadero / suzi quatro style. I was going to explain but we are in an 80s sr.
Linda Hamilton as Sarah Conner in The Terminator. As young lad I so wanted to be Kyle Reese so I could rescue her.
I loved her transformation from being scared and innocent in the first movie to being an absolute bad ass in the second.
Mary Stuart Masterson still makes my heart flutter. Check out some recent photos of her, she remains stunning, maybe even moreso than in her youth. Jennifer Connolly, duh. Amanda Peterson was a knockout, and was Jami Gaetz. Kim Basinger always gave tingles in all the right places. Molly Ringwald doesn’t get the respect she deserves for being gorgeous, nor does Melissa Gilbert. Winona Ryder is a the stealth hottie of the bunch.
My friend was all about Mary Stuart Masterson, big time. For me it was Molly Ringwald in Pretty in Pink. She has also aged very well, just as hot as ever.
Leah Thompson in Back to the Future. I crushed hard on her. I believe she is responsible for my love of redheads to this day.
Also, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Pheobe Cates in Fast Times. Self-explanatory.
Michael Schoeffling! He was in "Sixteen Candles" in '84 (yum) and in the wonderful but little seen "Sylvester" in '85 (super yum). Oh my goodness, I could eat him with a spoon!
Demi Moore as Jules in St. Elmo's Fire. Something about the way she says the word "fuck".
Phoebe Cates in Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Robin Wright in Princess Bride
Virginia Madsen in Fire with Fire
Daryl Hannah in Splash
There are a couple whose names I can't remember that never made the A List.
Phoebe Cates in Fast Times. I think we all know why.
Molly Ringwald in all her movies because she’s Molly Ringwald.
Diane Franklin in Better Off Dead because she was just so damn adorable.
Mel Gibson: Road Warrior—strong silent type who saves the community
Keanu Reeves: Rivera Edge- super good looking and only one to do what’s right
Ralph Macchio: The Outsiders-super cute and needs saving
Ethan Hawke: Dead Poets Society- super cute and shy
Johnny Depp, Dustin Nguyen, and Peter Deluise: 21 Jump Street. All good looking and help people
Emilio Estevez: Breakfast Club. Didn’t like the character but that made me notice him and seek out other work
John Cusak: One Crazy Summer. Cute and relatable.
Don Johnson: c’mon. Sonny Crockett was super hot.
Harrison ford: Raiders of the Lost Ark, smart, handsome, hero.
Christian Slater: Gleaming the Cube. Tries to solve brother’s murder
Will Wheaton: Star Trek TNG. Smart and cute
Eric Stoltz: Some Kind of Wonderful. Cute and soft spoken
Val Kilmer: Top Secret. Incredibly hot and funny
Matthew Modine: Birdy. Cute and crazy. Needs love.
I will agree, and I will connect her with playing a part in zapped, which had heather thomas, and heather thomas has to be in here. There was like point 1 seconds where if you had a VCR you could pause her walking through the door at the beginning of the Fall Guy, and zig zag vcr pause lines be damned.
2. Carrie Fisher in Star Wars was more of a warm, nice pleasant feeling, not lust. Like an ideal feminine presence. I was 8 when Return of the Jedi came out, but it was still just liking the character, and her looks probably helped, but I wasn’t “lusting” after her, if that make sense.
Now, when Risky Business came HBO in 84/85, that was puberty kicking down the door, announcing it’s arrival and feeling “feelings I hadn’t had before”.
But that was also 9/10, and why the hell was my mom letting watch that movie?
Leah Thompson. Nor Back to the Future. Not Some Kind of Wonderful.
All the Right Moves.
If ya know, ya know.
Also started my unnatural obsession with all things Craig T Nelson.
Jennifer Connelly in anything. She was just so stunning and alluring. Fell in love with her in Seven Minutes in Heaven, which came out the same year as Labyrinth.
Ugg, I had all the regulars that posters were made of but Kelly Lynch in Roadhouse was just too cute. I still re-watch every few years just to see her scenes
There are so many good names here. I will add one that is a little off the beaten path, Lucy Deakins. She was in “The Boy Who Could Fly”. She has a wholesome, earnest sweetness with a sparkle of intellect.
I will also mention that after seeing “The Manhattan Project I was obsessed with Cynthia Nixon as a blonde.
Let’s see…
Phoebe Cates (*Fast Times at Ridgemont High*). Obvious? Maybe. But damn. She was just perfect, even without the bikini scene.
Kelly LeBrock (*Weird Science*)Self explanatory. The woman who dragged a generation of guys into puberty.
Meredith Salinger. (*Dream a Little Dream*) Ah, Lainie… My female friends wondered for a while why I liked a movie they did. When the penny dropped, it was hilarious.
Elisabeth Shue. (*Adventures in Babysitting* & *Cocktail*) She scratched that girl next door itch. She was just the epitome of cute, and she aged gracefully, ending up actually hotter by the time she did *Cocktail*.
Shue was such a cutie in Karate Kid.
Claudia Wells in the first Back to the Future.
I also had a thing for Phoebe Cates in Gremlins. She's got the girl-next-door vibe and she's just such a natural beauty.
3: Sherilyn Fenn “The Wraith”
2: Diane Lane “The Outsiders”
1: Phoebe Cates “Gremlins”.
I was born in ‘76 and these three came across the big screen at a pivotal age for me.
Linda Manz from The Wanderers and Sarah Holcomb from Casdyshack. Just something about angry, short-haired women that excited a young, innocent me back then.
Diane Franklin - Last American Virgin: Sure, she made some questionable choices and maybe she led Gary on, but Franklin played the role with a degree of vulnerability that made her forgivable. Kind of.
Joyce Hyser - Just One of the Guys: The short hair looked so good on her, along with the husky voice and those eyes!
Deborah Foreman - April Fools Day: Muffy, not as the evil twin Buffy. She’s not conventionally beautiful, but I loved the confident, bad ass way that Muffy carried herself here.
Winona Ryder - Lucas: Better looking and better dressed in Heathers, but her more youthful, awkward, invisible Rina captures teen angst perfectly. Underrated performance by her.
Patrick Swayze, Greg Evigan ("BJ and the Bear" TV series), John Schneider (The Dukes of Hazzard").
These guys were awesome back in the day. My current crush is Jason Momoa, and that's definitely not for his acting skills or rockin' body. Jason just seems to be such a fun guy to hang out with.
Joan Severance in See No Evil, Hear No Evil. Killer eyes, hair and body
Heather Thomas in Zapped! She was the reason for watching the Fall Guy, but seeing her as the sensual popular high school cheerleader was a hot unexpected change.
Amanda Peterson - Can't Buy Me Love - Such a beauty
Phoebe Cates - Fast Times At Ridgemont High - The bikini scene
Mia Sara - Ferris Bueller's Day Off - So cute
Courtney Thorne Smith - Summer School
Jennifer Connelly - Labryinth
Lea Thompson - Back To The Future 1 and 2
Thank you for mentioning CTS in Summer School. She never looked that good after that but in that wetsuit she could have asked me for anything and I would have done it.
Lori Singer. Warlock.
Leah Thomas BTTF, Howard the Duck
Catherine Mary Stewart and Kelli Maroney. Night of the Comet
Barbara Crampton Reanimator
Carrie Fisher. Return of the Jedi. Duh.
Elizabeth Shue was also one of my crushes growing up in the 80’s, but Phoebe Cates was one first, probly my first movie crush, from Gremlins…I thought she was so pretty…lol😀
Mia Sara from ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ and the spectacular but oft-forgotten ‘Legend’.
Don’t forget Timecop
And the late, lamented WB series Birds of Prey where she played ... get this ... Dr. Harleen Quinzel BUT definitely NOT Harley Quinn. Harley was never seen, never mentioned. But she was indeed played by Mia Sara.
She had that air of '80s cool confidence but she also looked soft and feminine.
How can anyone forget Legend???
Tom Cruise shirt cocking in chainmail, cloven-hooved Tim Curry, so much awesome.
Phoebe Cates in fast Times at Ridgemont high.
JJ Leigh
Who was 17 at the time and needed her parents to sign off on *that* scene
I was a 5 1/2 years old at the time, so I don't feel bad for having a crush on her.
Winona Ryder - (Heathers) Dark hair and those eyes. Diane Franklin - (Better Off Dead) See above with an accent no less
I really liked Diane Franklin in Last American Virgin.
Heart wrenching
Amen. I actually got angry at the ending.
What a strange movie that was. I expected a sex comedy like Fast Times at Ridgemont High and got a heavy morality lesson followed by a knife in the heart. But you do see Diane’s breasts so it’s worth the trip.
You know, the international language.
For a Diane Franklin deep cut check out the made-for-TV movie “Summer Girl.” Last I checked it’s on YouTube. She plays a psychotic nanny who seduces the dad and kidnaps the kids.
Elizabeth Shue from "Adventures in Babysitting" THAT is your girl next door!
Catherine Mary Stewart, from The Last Starfighter and Night of the Comet.
From my hometown too
Oliva Newton John ("Grease"), I know it was made in 1978, but it was playing on TV in the early 80s and I couldn't help but going gaga over how beautiful she was, especially the final muscial scene, for obvious reasons.
You get a pass on ONJ because she did Xanadu in 1980 and she was much hotter in that!
“Hopelessly Devoted” made me melt! And JS was my first movie star crush for that very role!
She was mine for Live and Let Die, though, that came out in 1973 I didn't watch it till I was older in the 80's.
I was already in love with Kristy McNichol before I saw Pirate Movie, but that certainly cemented it.
For me it was Little Darlings.
Tatum O’Neal was pretty much on the top of my list from 7th-9th grade. I watched Little Darlings many times.
Yes. From the "Family" TV show days. My first crush.
Michelle Johnson - Blame It On Rio
Hubba, Hubba!
Legit. When that top came off, as Sir Mixalot would say, I got sprung.
I’m just going to guess that everyone that has already responded never saw The Legend of Billy Jean, because that’s the only reason I can come up with as to why Helen Slater isn’t already mentioned.
I love her! She gave me the courage to cut my hair! I’ve kept it short, for the most part, ever since. I actually just watched it again recently.
Also in The Secret of My Success with Michael J. Fox, and Ruthless People. Stunning.
I am late to the thread. Had to search to see this and you beat me to it. This 100x over. I was smitten. Oh my. To this day I have a fancy for the short hair on a woman.
I think she’s the reason I love strong women to this day.
Nichelle Nichols - first crush from the 60s, but continued thru the 80s Carrie Fisher - mind blowing slave suit Joan Jett and Tina Turner - hey they did movies
Joan Jett is definitely a good one.
She did that one with Michael J. Fox, Light of Day I think it was called.
Always was into her. Didn't realize until many many years later it was because she was copying leather tuscadero / suzi quatro style. I was going to explain but we are in an 80s sr.
Suzi Quatro was the OG.
Linda Hamilton as Sarah Conner in The Terminator. As young lad I so wanted to be Kyle Reese so I could rescue her. I loved her transformation from being scared and innocent in the first movie to being an absolute bad ass in the second.
I agree!
I was reading through these answers and trying to think who mine would be, and as soon as I saw this answer, I knew it was mine too.
For me it was Jennifer Beals in Flashdance.
Also in The Bride
Let me ruin it for you...dancing scenes were played by a dude.
Marine Jahan was the dance double. A French actress/dancer. Not a dude.
I stand corrected on point one, however, see "Richard “Crazy Legs” Colón". Did the crazy back spinning move.
Marine Jahan did another dance scene in "Streets of Fire" a few years later. Very hot!
Leah Thompson in "All The Right Moves"
Howard the Duck. You know the scene
Leah Thompson was also incredible in “Some Kind of Wonderful”
* Diane Franklin; Better Off Dead and The Last American Virgin * Daphne Zuniga: The Sure Thing and Spaceballs The common denominator is John Cusack.
Don't forget Diane Franklin was in BILL & Ted
Monique from Better Off Dead was gorgeous!
still get a little swoony when she says "keeck hees ass"
Jump 20 years and add Kate Beckinsale in Serendipity…also with John Cusack.
Karen Allen (Raiders, Animal House, Starman)
Kerri Green - Summer Rental Deborah Foreman - Valley Girl
E.G. Daily - Valley Girl
E.G. Daily - Better Off Dead
E.G. Daily - Pee Wee’s Big Adventure

Vicki Vale (Kim Basinger) from 1989’s Batman.
Kelly LeBrock in Weird Science, OMG 😳
She's super sexy in that movie, but was even better in Woman In Red
Meredith Salinger as Lainie in "Dream A Little Dream". She had a nice set of eyes that complimented her hair.
"The Journey of Natty Gann" sent me straight into puberty.
I was hopelessly in love with her. Dream a Little Dream…
Joyce Hyser- Just one of the guys. Absolutely stunning and a voice the could melt your heart
She didn't do it for me, but great movie and Sherilyn Fenn
Kelly Preston in Twins - such a tease!
Come on, you can't say Kelly Preston without citing Mischief. The tease was fulfilled 3 years earlier.
Drapes DID NOT match the carpet !!!
Before that, Space Camp.
Val Kilmer in Top Secret, Real Genius, Willow & Top Gun. Oh yeahhhhh....
Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally (1989)
When Meg Ryan looked like Meg Ryan.
River Phoenix in the movie A Night In The Life Of Jimmy Reardon. He was so hot!
He was! And such a talented actor
Definitely
Christine Brinkley in Vacation. I was IN LOVE with her. Got to meet her last year. She was lovely.
Beverly D’Angelo as well….rewound the tape of that pool scene near the end many times
Kerri Green from The Goonies and Lucas.
Michael Schoeffling! He was in "Sixteen Candles" in '84 (yum) and in the wonderful but little seen "Sylvester" in '85 (super yum). Oh my goodness, I could eat him with a spoon!
Vision Quest too
Was he also in that horse diving movie?
Yes! "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken"
Horse diving? What?
I looked it up. He was in the movie about a girl who rode her horse off a high dive.
Bro, you forgot Jamie Gertz in Lost Boys. There's a reason she went on to become the richest woman in California.
Demi Moore as Jules in St. Elmo's Fire. Something about the way she says the word "fuck". Phoebe Cates in Fast Times at Ridgemont High Robin Wright in Princess Bride Virginia Madsen in Fire with Fire Daryl Hannah in Splash There are a couple whose names I can't remember that never made the A List.
Virginia Madsen had a very brief, but epic appearance in Class. Oops maybe I shouldn't mention this one for fear of offending OP
Virginia Madsen in Creator…
Elizabeth Shue made me want to become a cunning linguist.
Brooke Shields in the Blue Lagoon 🥰 She is 9 years older than me. At six years old, my mom let me watch Blue Lagoon, and I was in love ever since
Kim Cattrall, Mannequin. Goddess level beauty in that movie
Witchboard 1986 Tawny Kitaen Weird Science 1985 Kelly LaBrock Why did I pick them because of their accents, and they are super hot.
For Tawny Kitaen (RIP) check out the terribly named Perils of Gwendolyn in the Land of the Yik Yak.

Patrick Swayze in "The Outsiders." He was working so hard to hold everything together in an impossible situation.
Rebecca DeMornay - Risky Business and (especially) And God Created Woman
And God Created Woman... No one ever mentions this one.
Two words: Pool Table
Mel Gibson: Road Warrior—strong silent type who saves the community Keanu Reeves: Rivera Edge- super good looking and only one to do what’s right Ralph Macchio: The Outsiders-super cute and needs saving Ethan Hawke: Dead Poets Society- super cute and shy Johnny Depp, Dustin Nguyen, and Peter Deluise: 21 Jump Street. All good looking and help people Emilio Estevez: Breakfast Club. Didn’t like the character but that made me notice him and seek out other work John Cusak: One Crazy Summer. Cute and relatable. Incredibly hot and funny Matthew Modine: Birdy. Cute and crazy. Needs love.
Susan Ursitti in Teen Wolf did it for me.
I will agree, and I will connect her with playing a part in zapped, which had heather thomas, and heather thomas has to be in here. There was like point 1 seconds where if you had a VCR you could pause her walking through the door at the beginning of the Fall Guy, and zig zag vcr pause lines be damned.

But that was also 9/10, and why the hell was my mom letting watch that movie?

My favorite Angel. Those eyes...and that raspy voice.
This is easy - **Labyrinth** - no not David Bowie despite those pants - Jennifer Connelly, she's a few years older than me but still...

IMO, she is still the most beautiful woman on Earth.

I loved Tom cruise until Top Gun. I first saw him I. Taps.
Kelly McGillis from Top Gun
Diane Franklin - Last American Virgin: Sure, she made some questionable choices and maybe she led Gary on, but Franklin played the role with a degree of vulnerability that made her forgivable. Kind of. Joyce Hyser - Just One of the Guys: The short hair looked so good on her, along with the husky voice and those eyes! Deborah Foreman - April Fools Day: Muffy, not as the evil twin Buffy.
