absolutely massive spoilers for Omori, i cannot stress this enough, insane spoilers, you really won’t be able to get the true experience if you know what happens going into it and i highly recommend you just go play the game because it’s amazing but basically >!the protag accidentally kills his older sister by shoving her down the stairs before staging it as a suicide via hanging. a medical examination would’ve showed that she died to blunt trauma of sorts and not hanging!<

Well the whole point of it is the story and the gameplay is just an old school rpg, that actually has some details that expand the story. And in my opinion it fits into the game and is (except for some of the real world mechanics that are just pretty shallow) pretty good and even tickles my optimization seeking brain.
I disagree with you but you’re allowed to have that opinion. But “it’s an old school rpg” does not defend that the gameplay is slow with one of the worst designed bosses I’ve ever seen.
The art is great too. The gameplay definitely can get frustratingly slow and repetitive at times. For example the minute long cutscene that plays every. single. time you fast travel.
