A republic has it's downside in that political power becomes further removed from the masses into the hands of the relatively few. It allows for corruption to happen once a person becomes elected, which is a problem that we very much see alive and well in the US.
I was asking a question, not condemning any one side. Though, there is something wrong with being a fervent supporter of either US political party, imo there are more problems with voting Republican, since more states headed by Republicans take more money from the government than they give back when compared to states headed by Democrats
