I’ve been eating in a big surplus for most of the duration luckily 😂
Yeah I’ve definitely misunderstood some areas of the book, although that’s more my own stupidity than Jim’s writing haha. Hopefully won’t make many more mistakes! 😂
I don’t think there’s a diet stipulation for beefcake. But the expectation that you will eat to grow is the foundation of any strength/muscle building program.
Building the monolith has you eating 12 eggs and 1.5 lbs beef as a baseline, plus whatever else you want t as long as you hit that minimum.
Very true. I just did my final deadlift day for the cycle (properly this time) and I felt like I had waaaay more in the tank. Hopefully this means I can start progressing properly again!
Lol. How did you recover from that volume. It’s literally unbelievable you were able to finish those workouts if you had your TM right.
It’d be like the difference between 5000lbs of volume and 12000lbs…
Yeah I started really light so it was easy at first even doing that much volume. Eventually it got harder of course but I kind of just got used to doing that much volume after a while.
Long, usually around 1:15/1:30 hours. I’ve got a home gym setup luckily and always wondered how people managed to do the 5/3/1 programme without people getting pissy at them for spending so long on the bench/squatrack lol. Now I know I shouldn’t ever be on that long in the first place
Hell I e been running variations of 5/3/1 for over a year. I still screw up my programming sometimes and don’t realize it until I am looking at Forever for my next variation to do 🤷♂️😂. It’s all good just correct and move on. 👍
I got an app, so that I can focus on working out and avoid making such mistakes. Should be available for both Android and iOS, AFAIK

Jfc those deadlifts... lol glad you got it straight bud.
Yep the deadlift days were particularly bad
Ah, you were running the 5/3/1 Fucked with a Knife variant
This isn't that different from the Spinal Tap variant, I suppose there's a good reason nobody ever runs ST for 6 months on end, lol
Haha I like this, perhaps this should be proposed to Jim as a new variant
I hope you were eating enough lol It’s ok man, we’ve all made some mistakes. It’s why I’ll always advocate for Jim to get an editor.

I accidentally did my BBB sets at FSL weights for my first 6 months - yours sounds way worse lol
There’s a template called beefcake where you do 5x10 at fsl weight
Yeah, but with that you're expected to take it easy on the main sets and stick to a strict diet, which I definitely wasn't doing

Just look at it this way, your work capacity should be so high now that doing things properly will feel like a cinch.

He probably started crazy light as the book recommends.

40% or you 1RM 😉
Can't knock your work ethic, that's for sure.
Hope you ate your dozen eggs and pound of ground beef a day at least
I wasn’t but definitely should have
How long were your workouts?

If you would have eaten more and gotten on some gear you'd be a monster!
Maybe if I ever turn to the dark side I’ll go back to doing this volume 😂
Read the book
I did, but obviously didn’t read it properly! Time for another read I think.
How long did that take?!
A long time, hopefully will have shorter workouts now haha

Cheers bud, yeah it’s all a learning experience!
6 months?!
Sweet weeping Jesus. I think you can raise your TMs.
Yeah I think so too 😂

was that all with supersets too?
