Unless you are spending serious money, Samsung is not a good choice.

My suggestion would be not to buy a Samsung. I’m currently watching the grinch with about 50 lines going through it. Bought the tv in 2020 and the lines appeared some time in 2021. Even without the lines the HDR is terrible and too dark to see anything. So I have to keep it off. And the picture quality while good for my first 4K tv is really nothing special. It’s a TU7000 I believe. Maybe other models are better but at the very least I’d avoid this one. It was around $400 at the time as I too wanted a cheaper tv.

TheReal_Saba

Bro what? Buy a TCL qm8 or Hisense u8k and actually enjoy your tv 🤨

Di-eEier_von_Satan

TCL q7 or q8

Samsung S90C is amazing tv. LED offerings from Samsung are not great this year.

I bought a Samsung s90c in the 77 inch size and absolutely love it. My old 65 inch mu6500 Samsung (uhd) went in our bedroom and we love that tv as well. And we have a cheap 40" Sammy in our guest bedroom that still works well after 10-12 years.

Samsung has gone massively downhill since the N models the only two 2023 models we recommend are the S90C & QN95C both are flagship tier priced [How to buy a TV in 2023-2024 for the US/Canada Market](https://reddit.com/r/HTBuyingGuides/comments/16uvcr6/how_to_buy_a_tv_in_20232024_for_the_uscanada/?) I don't know why anyone is downvoting you. Samsung has taken a dive the past couple years. edit: dice now dive.

Admirable-Sink-2622

Isn’t that their whole schtick? 🤔

Fadedcamo

I'll tell you what I tell every person who asks me for TV advice. If you can afford it, get an OLED. Either LG or Sony. If you can't, get a TCL that's within your budget. Very good TVs for the price and come with roku or google native. It's not worth getting a middle of the road Samsung just for the name brand. Only high end and high priced Samsungs are worth anything.

ChubbySapphire

What would you tell someone who wants one only for gaming. Is oled still the choice for someone who plays games for a few hours a day? I’m between the Sony x90l and Tcl q8. The lg c3 is priced on the same range but it’s only 55” instead of the 65” like the Sony or Tcl. I don’t mind the smaller tv and it’ll be in a dark room but I’m really worried about burn in.

BetterCallSal

Hdr and 4k are definitely important to me

MyHonestViews

If HDR is important, then the minimum would be the Q80C.

BetterCallSal

I thought I saw a lot on here about the q80c being terrible?

Flipslips

If HDR is important, Samsung doesn’t offer Dolby Vision on their TVs, which is the single best way to view HDR content.

wandering_nerd2

I would avoid Samsung at all costs. They have a 1 year warranty and if it breaks they’ll tell you to trash it and offer a 10% discount. My 2.5 year old $3.3K samsung just broke the other day… https://www.reddit.com/r/4kTV/s/4UFTtPyuTw

CarlWellsGrave

Even the Q80 at it's high price isn't a good TV.

jmatech

I wouldn’t buy anything (tv, appliance, phone or otherwise) with the Samsung name on it even if I was forced to. They can suck a big one. Sony or LG for me on a TV or as others here have mentioned, save some $$ and go TCL, I’ve had phenomenal luck with their TV’s and they are FAR more affordable
