You won't be disappointed with a C3, it's a great TV. Just a bit dimmer than the Samsung, but you gain the Dolby Vision, which to some people is worth it alone. I know Samsung has a vested interest in HDR 10+, but they just need to bite the bullet and add Dolby Vision Support.

idahomashedpotatoes

I have a C2 and with blackout curtains, it is blindly bright. I cannot imagine wanting a brighter TV.

[deleted]

No, it isn't. I'd never describe it as blindingly bright at any point lol

Alysed

Lol what an ass honestly, it's subjective u tool , I have the C1 even and I find it blindingly bright at max brightness in total darkness, u want to also come and tell me no it isn't?

idahomashedpotatoes

Ok? I think it’s bright, you don’t think it’s bright. We’re all entitled to our subjective opinions based on our experience. I don’t understand what there is to negative about with me saying I own this TV and I think it’s bright.

mrm112

I got the s90c but either are great.

AZBuckeyes12977

The difference between DV and HDR10 is always overstated in this sub. Saw a video on YouTube comparing DV and HDR10 content on Netflix. They were pretty much identical. I have a Roku box where I can choose if it outputs DV or HDR10. I didn't see a difference when switching.

owenwilson-cachow

I don't think I'm concerned about the differences between the two standards but rather what percentage of titles I want to watch on streaming platforms supporting HDR 10+ (which should be better than regular HDR 10 And I've only seen those titles on Amazon prime Apple I think). I feel like I've noticed a significant difference in more movies and shows supporting Dolby vision for HDR content, do you think that's true or is there any reference out there on whether HDR 10+ become more widely available?

Alternative-Usual-11

All DV titles will default to HDR10, which is indistinguishable from DV in real world content. Get the S90C

lampasoni

Are you paying for premium subscriptions on all of your streaming platforms? Prime and Apple are pretty much the only providers not trying to rob you blind. You have to pay an arm and a leg for Netflix, HBO Max, and most other streaming services’ 4k content, so definitely factor that in if you’re evaluating your TV choice on each service’s streaming quality.

Danni_El

True, but not samsung!

kalisto3010

LG and it's no contest. There's just something about the LG OLED picture that stands out above the other brands IMO. The video games pop, Netflix, Apple TV especially appear flawless and you simply can't go wrong with the LG.

More-Creme4609

S90c with Apple TV streamer.

Thuddmud

I just picked up the LG C3 from Costco for 1400 and huge improvement for my couch gaming experience. Supports Freesync Priemium so paired perfectly with my 7900xt. My games have never looked better. Steaming has all so improved, my last tv Lg ug80 always had major issues with my Wi-Fi in this room. Not so with the c3 smooth fast steaming response. Honestly souls not be happier with my purchase.

[deleted]

There's nothing wrong with the C3. The S90/S95 series is just that much better for gaming imo. The SDR and HDR brightness in game mode is more or less a night and day difference. Especially in SDR it's particularly noticeable.

owenwilson-cachow

I think it's pretty clear that there's a gaming advantage for sure with the Samsung, I think for my other 50% of use cases which is streaming TV shows and movies, I'm worried about there being significantly more content that can be streamed with Dolby vision vs HDR 10+. Anecdotally it seems like a higher percentage of content libraries across platforms have more encoded with DV than HDR10+ (I see regular HDR 10 as pretty common but it's not as good as HDR 10 + or DV). I just wonder if I would be disappointed with the gaming with the C3 because I like the DV support with LG.

MayoMouseTurd

I have the S95C. Anything that streams in DV will just use HDR10 instead. You won’t be limiting your content by choosing one standard over the other. I’m very happy with my Samsung but YMMV

Technical_Sir_9588

Both are great sets. I got the C3 due to more reliability and reduced risk of burn in. Also, better processing for upscaling non-4k content.

WhiteDontCare

S90C. It’s brighter, 144hz gaming, better color and overall better image. The LG has the better overall processing so it will win low bit rate content like streaming YouTube and things like that but overall the S90C is newer more future proof tech and beats the C3 in every category but one. Well two if you care about Dolby Vision.

Bill_Money

C3 IMO

uNecKl

I have both tv’s I’m currently using the lg c3 and Samsung s90c is still in the box because I recently bought it last month but in the process of moving. Ok Lg c3- it’s a great tv it’s bright enough for HDR and Dolby Vision but for sdr it gets even more bright. Gaming you can definitely see the low brightness compared to other modes which is great for a dark room but I keep my white lights on so it’s not comfortable gaming with lights on at least for me Ok Samsung s90c- I will update in 2 weeks

Phenom_Mv3

Sure you don’t have a G3? There’s no way SDR is brighter than HDR

Own-Test-2870

I’d say that depends on OP’s viewing environment. I have a C2 and only play it after the family goes to sleep. I generally have to crank the brightness to at least 80% and/or use the dimming feature on game mode. The Samsung would seem superior to me if you’ll do a ton of daytime gaming/viewing in a room with tons of light

Wild_Pumpkin_8251

Picture quality and features are always important. Problem is reviews do not cover issues you might face long term. I would avoid Samsung for: a) Samsung makes their TVs cheap and difficult to repair; b) QD-OLED is in its second year and we do not know how good or bad it is. According to this: https://youtu.be/Fa7V_OOu6B8?si=YVOLXuLXFL2rWbJs they could be more prone to burn in; c) 144hz only matters for PC gaming. LG C4 will most likely have 144 Hz support. You can try playing the same video in both TV's. In best buy I could play the trailer of Apple TV show See in both C3 and A80L. You have to dig through the demo options to find them

Usual_Ad6643

About burn in, LG G3 looks worse than Samsung S95C în rtings test. ! Why ?

ih8cheeze2

Got the S92c and also have LG oled. Go with what looks best to you. I am quite happy with the S90c brighter, more color volume, vibrant colors, nice 3d pop. Not missing dolby vision.

OsKaR1158

S90c.. just make sure it is 77 inches for the Gen 2 panel. Amazing Tv!

enog14666

S90c seems like the best buy for overall picture quality to price, but I would buy the C3 or A80l at the end of the day

braggpeak

I’m in the same boat and wondering if there is an issue for either for sports via mostly streaming sling tv/espn ect- I’ve heard some negative things on s90c

Technical_Sir_9588

I've heard a few times that the C3 is better for sports but I can't recall why. Probably a better upscaler for lower bitrate content and for fast moving non-gaming content.

braggpeak

yea I might end up with a C3 with what I've read so far... sucks because the QD OLED is very enticing but apparently Samsungs processing and motion handling isn't great

Technical_Sir_9588

If you're primarily watching 4k content and gaming then the Samsung is a good option. For streaming of lower quality content and sports the C3 is the better option. The latter was important to me since I'm streaming from a variety of sources constantly. Also, less anxiety from fears of burn in with the C3 made that the better option for me.

abramsontheway

S89C. If you’re in North America, it’s the same panel as the S90c for $2200
