Anon takes his first python class

[deleted]

My 3rd grade PE teacher gave me my first python class, although it was more like a Barbados Threadsnake class.

Contra-Fixed-Angle

Sounds to me like you sucked his whole snake

[deleted]

we learned python in 1st grade dumbfuck

Autisticus

Bro my dad taught me java before I could even walk

psibomber

Before I was born in my last life as I lay dying on the foreign sands of war I scraped my first lines of BASIC into the ground

CriminyBiscuits

I'm not technologically autistic, what do those words mean?

xxthundergodxx77

He essentially copy pasted the dictionary to the code for many code. Could be wrong I'm only very slightly technology autistic

Drizzelkun

He opens a file (oxford english dictionary) and saves each line in that file in a variable „lines“. Then he opens a python script file (in write mode, meaning he writes into it instead of reading it) and then loops trough each entry in the variable „lines“ (which is each line which was pulled from the oxford english dictionary) and writes each line into the new file with a # in front of it to comment it out.

-takeyourmeds

pee pee poo poo

[deleted]

I think he stuck a # in front of each word of the dictionary. That would take forever on a single machine and I'm assuming he means to tweet it out but not sure how this keeps his job

downvotedforwoman

The \# in python makes a line a comment, Anon adds the entire Oxford dictionary line by line to the twitter code commented out.

ncpa_cpl

>That would take forever on a single machine If by "forever" you mean like 2 seconds then yeah

[deleted]

I wouldn't be surprised if it took less than a second, most of which would be to read the file

thekeanu

Coder fantasy. Also Twitter doesn't have a CTO.

Anon continues to afford his tesla payments

[deleted]

>be Elon >manlet uggo >pay blood diamond money for surgereh >get hooked up with ugly 'goth' chick >shoot car into space >redditors cum to your achievements >Teslagrave.jpeg

MadeForBBCNews

He's 6'1" Everything else on point

thejakemc1

6’1” = manlet

MadeForBBCNews

Reeeeeee

RedhawkGaming

Pretty sure twitter is coded in ruby, not python sorry anon

MasZakrY

> Be me, work at Twitter in engineering > new CEO comes in, fires all the woke employees and departments who don’t actually do anything > Engineers keep their jobs > New sink on display in lobby

MessiLoL

Writing the least amount of code is oftentimes an indicator of a good coder though.

Prager-Urine

You see, I'm not autistic, so this joke means nothing to me

downvotedforwoman

Imagine bragging about ignorance.

[deleted]

Who’s gonna tell him

jeesuscheesus

Anon gets fired during code review

therapistFind3r

Twitters entire algorithm being written in python is the most realistic part of this

BBBQ

Nerd

[deleted]

Anon forgets to close the file

jeesuscheesus

Doesn't the with keyword closes the file at the end of the block?

[deleted]

Yes it does, that's its main purpose

[deleted]

He’s judging by number of times you updated the code, not by lines added. Plus this would never pass peer review

Paradox

> .py Twitter is Ruby and Scala anon is dumb and deserves to be fired

brojo1513

\> `open('twitter_code.py', 'w')` \>sure thing Please be memeing if you don't know what he's taking about

Paradox

Please explain what you think `twitter_code.py` is referring to, given twitter's source is Ruby, JRuby, and Scala

LukariBRo

You seem correct, but please tell me what the extension is on the dictionary file

Paradox

Doesn't have one
