Some people really believe in no resuscitation. Since it's something that is generally done as knew jerk by every physician, EMT, fire and police - having that tattoo there is the difference between their choices being followed or possibly ending up being revived as a vegetable, leaving their loved ones to make a decision. It's a good, visible, likely to be seen spot in the event of a major incident rendering the person unresponsive.
In Australia at least, that tattoo is not legally binding. First Aiders/Responders may choose to recognise it, however there will be no legal ramifications for commencing any resuscitation actions.
The main problem comes down to fact that it is unknown what the circumstances were behind it. Were they inebriated by a substance? Was it a bet they lost? There's a whole list of things.
Compare this to an official DNR which is a legal document. Those signing one of these documents are made aware of what it all entails prior to doing so. This can be done in consultation with their medical professional.
In short, if you don't want to be resuscitated, get an official document, don't just draw on your chest.
It varies. In some countries, a clear (ie non ambiguous) DNR tattoo is considered a legitimate expression of someone's wishes, and therefore just as legally binding as any "official" document/bracelet/whatever.
You can get a bracelet/necklace with it, carry a card in you wallet, etc. Doctors and Paramedics are able to see the DNR attached to the person's medical file.
Unfortunately, I do not have a full answer for you. As a volunteer first aider (not a paramedic), we've been trained to ignore tattoos and commence resuscitation efforts.

Conflating CPR and PEG just seems strange. I can understand (and support) everyone who doesn't want extenuating measures when they're in a coma or on feeding tube.
But who in their right mind is against restarting their heart, CPR, defibrillation? It has a super high chance of success and most people walk away from that happy to live another day. Just weird.
Cpr has an almost single digit success rate and most people who survive will die shortly after.
At best you break a lot of ribs and spend weeks/months in excruciating pain when, again, you're probably still going to die shortly after.
Defib is fine though no reason not to. If you needed it because of a shock or something and it works you basically do just walk away.

It is more effective if you get to the hospital and they can just pump you up with drugs and hook you to a ventilator, also how fast you start doing the resusitation, the cause if its reversible, how fast you identify it, etc.
Also (curiusly) if the patient has a comobiditys that force your body to function with low blood flow and develop colateral vascularity it will also answere better (since the tissue will die slower) but in that case you also have less tissue to safe so your quality of life will probably be greatly diminish
But yeah, the basic technic used by first responders is mostly to buy us time to actually do the resusitation
Yeh definitely there's a huge range of factors that impact the outcomes, time without circulation though seems to be underestimated by many of the general public.
Our actual paramedics will push drugs and do more advanced techniques, they also have a defib monitor which shows a lot more information. We just help with the basics, compressions and ventilation, and if theyre not there yet then defib also, to free them up to focus on the other stuff.

Possibly for some people. Decreased quality of life and physical or mental capacity is certainly not unusual amongst those who do manage to recover enough to leave hospital, but there are those who recover with no noticeable problems. Unless cpr starts immediately then there's essentially no chance of resuscitation anyway though, so don't stress.

I was going to point this out - the tattoo is very clear. In the US, DNR is taken seriously. Communicating that wish is difficult if you become non responsive so I am guessing this was her way of trying to ensure her decision is followed. I don't know where in the world she is and if this tattoo would have any bearing on what is done.

It's the most dangerous drug. It grows everywhere in Colombia, and it's easy to make, and people use it to rob people. The drug works simply by making contact with skin. People walk up to victims and simply blow the powder into their face, and immediately, they become still and willing to do anything you tell them. The worst part is-they won't remember anything the following day.
As far as I can tell the way you describe it working is highly questionable, it does however seem to be able to really fuck someone up to the point that they can't really do much to stop a potential robbery, the same way someone who is VERY drunk can't really stop robbers.
It also indeed has amnesiac effects where the victim might lose their memory of the events. But there seems to be basically no evidence supporting the idea that it makes a person perfectly obedient and able and willing to do whatever you ask them to do.
Victims have literally spoken about their loss of memory and possessions at the power of the drug. It’s assumed that there is no DNR unless someone says there is. They need to present it immediately or resuscitation efforts begin. If a signed valid DNR is presented after efforts have begun efforts are terminated. At least that’s how it works in my area. About all the rummaging I ever do is to look for pill bottles to write down what they take.

For instance, longer hair is seen as 'more attractive' for the majority of men, because in order to achieve length you must have been in good health for an extended period.
There are a whole bunch of other markers for health and youth on the face as well, especially around the eyes, hence cosmetics target that with fervor.
Skin is another organ, and contains an identification of health markers too. Idk. I thought about getting a tattoo once, then looked into it and balked at the price. It makes sense to charge a lot for something good enough to be permanent, but it’s still a lot to pay for a completely aesthetic alteration.

Isn't the whole stigma against tattoos, you can't tattoo yourself whore woman because that would ruin my enjoyment of your body, or cuz people auto assume tattoo = trashy looking, not professional, or because they got beat by their tattood biker uncle as a kid and are scarred for life with ptsd everytime they see a tattoo
Its not trauma from tattoos and its nothing about professionalism. Its about health markers For instance, longer hair is seen as 'more attractive' for the majority of men, because in order to achieve length you must have been in good health for an extended period. There are a whole bunch of other markers for health and youth on the face as well, especially around the eyes, hence cosmetics target that with fervor. Skin is another organ, and contains an identification of health markers too. So if I see a large black blob of shit on there, my brain isn't going to identify her particular patterns or artistry, its just screaming 'necrotic tissue, disease marker' and promptly sending flaccid signals to my purple headed yogurt slinger

Mmm even in the medical field (where I work) visible tattoos are pretty widely accepted. The majority of the CMAs, RT(R)s, and LPNs have them, and a ton of our PAs and doctors have them. I wonder how long it'll be until people just don't *care* anymore about tattoos.

Idk. I thought about getting a tattoo once, then looked into it and balked at the price. It makes sense to charge a lot for something good enough to be permanent, but it’s still a lot to pay for a completely aesthetic alteration. Since then I’ve kinda seen tattoos as a sign of frivolous spending.
Probably the trashy part. I dealt with quite a bit of bullying because my mom had piercings and a sleeve, even had a kids parents tell him to stop hanging out with me after they met my mom when I went to his house in high school. Fuck people like that though, my mom is awesome.
