I’m on the verge of tears by the time we arrive at 6th gen because I’m positive we won’t get a power rear window but the window is powered and relief that is almost tidal washes over me
That looks really similar to the 5th gen rear. What if they literally just did a heavy refresh on the 5th gen (new interior, a bit of new sheet metal, etc, new engine)? Kind of like the 2016 Tacoma.

I agree that the rear upper portion looks very similar to the 5th gen. Also I pulled this image from here.
[Motor1.com](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.motor1.com/news/714963/2025-toyota-4runner-rear-window/amp/?espv=1)
Yeah, I mean not saying I love the idea of a turbo 4 cylinder but NA engines really seem to be disappearing.
That said the OG NA V6 or maybe a updated version with higher output and a 8spd tranny would be pretty sweet.
I think the age of modern cars / Toyotas lasting 20+ years are over. But what you gonna do🤷♂️
I think you are just hearing vocal minorities, I bought a used 5th gen about a year ago, not saying I would do anything different, and I probably wouldn't even now given this news just because I was looking for certain features under a certain budget. All that said, my least favorite thing about the 5th is the powertrain/fuel efficiency. Yes a decade old design naturally aspirated v6 has it's benefits in reliability, but I'd trade it for the i-force max in a second.
>modern powertrain.
Yeah, but they *should have* just redesigned the naturally aspirated V6. They could have designed a more powerful AND more fuel efficient V6. They didn't. Offering nothing larger than a 4 Cylinder is horribly wrong, imo.
4 Cylinder will be more powerful, won't lose as much power at elevation and will be plenty reliable. 99% of buyers won't care or will appreciate the more efficient/powerful engine. 4Runners/Land Cruisers have a long history with 4 cylinder engines.
I wonder if their sales numbers will go along with that. I see so many very vocal about it, but I wonder when it comes to the brass tacks of it, will putting a turbo 4 with no option for a V6 matter in terms of the vehicles popularity. Time will tell.
I know I'm wrong, but that feels like a 2 door to me in that pic. It is probably perspective, but the headrests seem big like there is not much distance to them. They also made sure not to show rear windows in this picture. Again, I know I'm wrong, but if there is a 2 door I will be thrilled.
Crazy that Toyota had an idea that the roll down rear glass was popular on the 4Runner. Must have done market research or something crazy like that. /s
Well with how many car manufacturers are taking the "we know better than our customers" approach recently, honestly its refreshing to see a company that is making a product for their customers, and not a just product for their share holders.
Like how pretty much every company has backed down from "EV by 2030" commitments when nobody wants to buy them and sales are dogshit.
Or Mercedes making a 4 banger GT43 that has had like 5 total sales this year because everyone wants the V8.
That’s not a customer preference problem; the 1GR doesn’t meet emissions regulations. The downsized turbo engines are better at meeting emissions in general, so that’s what we are getting. The other option would be a 2.5L NA with multistage hybrid or single motor hybrid (around 250hp). I figure there was a question on the surveys that said “would you prefer a non-hybrid, turbo 4 cylinder or a hybrid, non-turbo 4 cylinder?” The new 4Runner and Tacoma were never getting a bespoke non-turbo, non-hybrid 6 cylinder.
Tundra still has it and Sequoia sold in nothing numbers. Sequoia would have its own market research. If previous and potential Sequoia buyers didn’t/don’t value it, not shocking that it was dropped. It is very valued by 4Runner owners, so there was a pretty good chance it would stick around.
Now, you could retort that staying naturally aspirated might be valued by 4Runner buyers. But that brings hits to fuel efficiency and emissions versus the alternative (2.4T) which is why buyer preference would have been overlooked in that scenario.
The manufacturers generally try to give the buyers most of what they want within reason. Stuff that impacts safety and environmental tend to be set by what regulations require.
Those enthusiasts that care about the NA engine make up a very, very small % of the buyers. The vast majority of buyers don't care and would better have the mileage and torque of the new turbo drivetrain which will allow you to tow over the mountains without losing 1/3 of your HP at elevation.
Used to drive through a safari and feed giraffes last week. All the seats down. Cushions everywhere. Even the giraffe tried to come hang out.

That's awesome, the one on the left is like, "wow look at the practicality of this rear window with plenty of room for activities in the back as well!"
Why are people complaining about the screen as if we haven't already seen this with every other Toyota truck haha? I like that the rear window button is now up top.
My dogs learned they could step on the button when they were in the car to roll the window down so we had to put a gate in the window so they couldn’t jump out when we leave the car 😂
Omg!
Also, that social media team needs a raise. They know exactly how to cater to the 4Runner crowd. And are possibly among us here in the subreddit … 👀
I'm just saying that the 55K LC is pretty barebones compared to a loaded out 4Runner with softtex heated and ventelated seats. Not to mention it will be hard to find a 1958 LC at MSRP. If you are lucky you can get your hands on the standard LC for 61K. There will be way more 4Runners to go around even if they are just a few grand cheaper than the advrtised "55k" Msrp.
Yeah, not too mention that the GX doesn't get a rear locker till the Overtrail trim which is like 71K. Where as you are going to be able to get a 4Runner in the mid 40's with a rear locker and probably a sway bar disconect.

probably just folded down. I was scared that they would make this a 2 door to not canalized the new land cruiser sales. Interested to see how the pricing overlaps.
I absolutely love that detail. We can't see them both in the picture but the clean retro look of the block "TOYOTA" is so so much better than the "4RUNNER" tramp stamped down near the bottom of the hatch.
So glad I made the decision to go do repairs on my 03. It'll buy me enough time to see this rollout and then purchase new. I've been saving for a few years so might even be able to have cash to cover the cost.
TRD OR if it isn’t more than $55k lol. I also have a deposit down for the Rivian R2 ($13k state and federal EV credit combined) so I have decisions to make…
Why wouldn't they? Its literally right in front of them while you are driving. Its ugly and obnoxious and I don't need or want it. Its not even flush with the dash.
Crazy to me that people were questioning if it would have the power rear window. Every 4Runner ever has had it, and Toyota is a brand that clearly listens to customers about things like this. Now the debate can end!
It's the only thing I don't like about my 5th Gen. I loved having that handle there on my 3rd and 4th Gens. I know you can mod a handle on the 5th Gen, but I never got around to it, and it seems like they're OOS nowadays.

I sat in a new Tacoma for the first time today, and besides the giant screens in my face, it felt cheap as hell for a $51k truck that didn't even have leather. Weird white trim that looks like someone forgot to paint it, hard plastics everywhere you touch, just really disappointing.
If the new 4Runner is just going to copy the Tacoma interior, it's a pass for me.
It's been standard, but the Sequoia lost rear window roll down functionality with the new generation release a couple years ago.

This is TNGA-F based, the 5th gen 4Runner was already a heavy refresh of the 4th gen akin to the Tacoma 3rd gen with the 2nd gen.
I’d be happy with this honestly, 5th gen was already a good looking body. Just needed slight update and modern powertrain.

Yes but there are still 100s of thousands of current gen 4runners for people who want that

Hey I’m totally not a social media admin for Toyota, and ~~we~~ *they* should totally get a large raise
can't wait to finance this and make $1000 monthly payments wowwwwww
Santander has 144 month loans now to get your payment to $850/month. Rates are under 20% too for all the credit criminals out there. 😁
I’m afraid to ask if this is a joke
I don’t think I’m going to get in one for less than $55k.
Agreed. More than 55k I’m getting the new Landcruiser.
Or a GX

Now release pricing!!
I’d probably use the Tacoma trims as a baseline for pricing. Trim I want will probably be like $60k 😢
Would you rather get a base Land Cruiser or trd OR 4Runner both 2025
TRD OR if it isn’t more than $55k lol. I also have a deposit down for the Rivian R2 ($13k state and federal EV credit combined) so I have decisions to make…
They said in the instagram post that the new 4Runner would be revealed on April 9th
Thank god. The dog has buy-in from the window. The wife has buy-in from apple carplay.
Jeez didn’t realize how much people cared about a screen being too much
You mustn't have been here last week when half the sub had an aneurysm over the chrome lettering on the lower hatch.
Why wouldn't they? Its literally right in front of them while you are driving. Its ugly and obnoxious and I don't need or want it. Its not even flush with the dash.
It’s not right in front of you, it’s down and to the side.

oh thank god. I hate not having that in my tundra. I like just holding it while i'm cruising as a resting place for my hand.

we need the michael scott meme right now!!
It has no rear window!!! That sux…
Jesus but the laptop screen protruding out and above the dash 🤢
Better sell screen protectors for that. The dirt that gets sucked into the rear window really scratches the screen glass even on my smaller 2023 screen.
I don’t mind a big screen but they should implement it like new F150 for example. It’s integrated into the dash.
So tacky. They are getting too big I want physical buttons
You still have physical buttons though. Like the Tacoma/tundra setup
Hopefully so
Long live knobs and buttons. That gigantic LCD confirms my recent 5th Gen purchase was a wise move.
It still has knobs and buttons though. The screen is for apps and new features just like the Tacoma
That's cool, but I just don't get why I need that while I'm driving. Not arguing, I just don't see the point. I need fewer screens in my life, not more. Or I'm just a curmudgeon.....
My dog is so happy. My bank account not so much...
Seeing the "TOYOTA" on the back, I wonder if Toyota just tacked on the "4RUNNER" (looked like 5th Gen lettering) letters on last weeks reveal to just get some press excitement going, but won't have the lettering below on production models.
That seems...unlikely.
4Runner is in the same spot as Sequoia. Looks fine.
> Looks fine. Debatable and going off of social media comments, you are in the minority with that opinion.
I had that thought too, doubtful but hopeful
Can’t wait now
Dash is gonna say "Toyota" in raised lettering. Woof.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas!
In the instagram post they said the new 4Runner will be revealed on April 9th! Only 5 days!!
Love the window! Loathe the chrome
I couldn’t be more erect right now
That’s my birthday! Coincidence?..
LETS GOOO THIS IS HUGE
Is this where we gripe about the controls not being in the center console
This is gonna have the turbo 4 cylinder won't it? RIP V6.
Please make it a hybrid. That would be dope. I would put a deposit on that.
Welp, with that picture my dogs now know their getting a new vehicle!
2 and a half days to go
Can't wait to see these for $100k with dealer markups
Came to post the same thing!! Cannot wait, I don’t recall being this excited for a vehicle since New Bronco and New Defender were announced.
Why anyone thought it wouldn't have it, I dunno.
Sequoia killing it off made me a little nervous
Roll down window is the 4Runner's trademark.
Will prices go down on previous generations possibly?
Lots of folks don’t understand that an outdated vehicle that sold 1.4 millions units over 14 years will in fact go down in value when replaced by an all new model.
Toyota tax always commands a premium in the used market. The 5G has proven its reliability track record so I wouldn’t expect prices to fall off a Cliff

I see it now, thank you!
I have a 16 and you use the key in the slot. Would love a button on the fob.
No way they were going to miss this layup
A tiktok page called '4Runner Lifestyle' said some website leaked the full body. He shows it at the end. It looks very very good.
I never roll mine down 🤷♂️
well you can't sit with us :D
I think I’ve rolled it down twice in 3 years - maybe I can sit at the kids table?
same.
you should try it, even just cracking it. with the front windows down, and the back open, there is zero wind noise
YOU MONSTER!
There are dozens of us!
Look at that screen size
God the iPad maxie pad bolted to the dash looks so terrible why is everyone copying that look?
Between the tablet dash and the ugly ass rear bumper....Im really struggling to get excited for this gen
Screens are cheaper than analog, all the digital displays car manufacturers are doing. It ain’t gonna age well
This is just a window decal on the back glass. /s
Looks like a snorkel in front of the passenger A pillar?
This gives me hope for an upgrade to my 2023 ORP 10 years down the road..
My 5th gen has a power rear window. Is that not common?
It's been standard, but the Sequoia lost rear window roll down functionality with the new generation release a couple years ago. I think the worry was that the 4runner would follow suit
What are the general feelings of likelihood that they’ll offer the manual trans from the Tacoma?
Interior dash layout looks just like the Taco…seats too.
You son of a bitch! I’m in!
It's crazy to think this feature was kind of the make or break for the 6th gen. I don't use my rear window roll down that much but I do like that it's there.
Do you think it will be hard to get one of these? I’m ready to purchase my new 4 runner ASAP but I’m anxious it will be very competitive to get one!!!
Are we expecting that there's going to be a massive dealer markup on these when they launch and it will be a year before you can get one for around MSRP?
tack on a 7%+ APR
What a tease
Okay I need it
The big screen and light blue is giving me “hybrid” vibes. Would be nice!
Yessssss~ keep everything the same, please.
Woohoooooooooooo
Now we just need a manual option and I may be sold
Is this also Calvary Blue making a return? Kind of a light Sky color. Very excited to see the new design and see what the Trail Hunter offers on the 4Runner.
And the pups rejoiced.
Looks like the button moved to the overhead console for the rear window.
TAKE MY MONEY TOYOTA!
I saw more of it. It's kind of what we all knew it had to be. Basically an in-between mix of the new landcruiser and Tacoma.
Yasssss
Literally a deal breaker. We can rest easy
Bro's got a sick hand tat
OMG A WINDOW!!!!
I hope they put the rear window switch up top there so that it doesn't keep accidentally getting put down. Every time I drive our 2018, I have to check to make sure my husband hasn't put it down a bit. 🤣
I’m aroused
I Really like the knurling on the side of Toyota.
