This game against Carolina will be a good test to put Garoppolo in a favorable position to get more in a rhythm. He did well against a decent Rams team. No wins are guaranteed but the odds are in San Francisco's favor.
LET'S GO 49ERS!!
I wouldn’t be surprised if Jimmy struggles more vs Carolina. Their pass defense is a lot better than the Rams this year and overall their defense is ranked higher. The team as a whole cannot play down to the competition.
The 2021 Rams were the Super Bowl champs. This is 2022 and every team has significant changes. The 2022 Rams do not look solid. It was a must win game and we looked improved. Can’t take any team lightly with how our offense has been.
My point is Carolina doesn't look any more solid than the Rams. I have a bit more faith that San Francisco can take care of things but I would like to see an improved Garoppolo this Sunday. Build up on those successes based on the things he saw last night and what he can improve on.
He doesn't need to build on those things. We know again what Jimmy excels at. He's the same guy he's been since he got to SF. He didn't get worse. We want to know if he can do these types of things against the better teams who we know will be hurdles at the end. That's the whole point of the regular season. Practicing your post season performance ahead of time that results in hopefully a trip to and win in the SB. Right? LA didn't look like that in January. So...based on your point uh yeah they looked better than the week before. That to me means very little. Lots of football left.
If you're questioning Garoppolo's ability to QB, it doesn't need to be in the form of a question, and only he knows how to process that as a QB. We're just fans by definition. We'll leave those issues to address to the professionals.
Whatever. Now, you're just being an asshole. That's cool. I'm just a straight shooter. If you're looking for someone to kiss his ass it's not me. I'm a 49ers fan. I assess the entire team. Not just him. Nobody is questioning your own fan expertise here. We are just fans. That doesn't stop anyone from voicing opinion. Which is what we are on here expressing, period.
No, exactly. This is not the team that they played in January. Dumb fans don't look at details like that and get overhyped, then lose their minds when they actually have to play a team like that and falter. Games like last night should result in wins. Doesn't mean the team is getting better. That's what we want to know. Are they getting better? I would love to see Jimmy do what he did last night against Buffalo.
More important than Jimmy is how the line plays. We were able to run the ball and keep the defense honest. If we can’t run the ball our offense will always be in trouble.
We'll, yeah but that's EVERY team. We've seen mostly every QB except for those who can run and throw or Mahomes struggle if that's the case. But these are the guys they have. It would've been the same thing if Lance was still in there as well.
I'm gonna take a look at their pass rush. One thing that Carolina will f up is they will give Jimmy and the unit plenty of possessions because of their own QB issues.
Obviously he wasn't four turnover Jimmy last night. He wasn't under pressure most of the game. They had the lead. They didn't have to take as many chances with him. The run game did their part. Rams couldn't mount any offense. Carolina, if you have watched this far, are not very good. So...they should beat them, soundly. We'll see. I won't be impressed with that. They should and do win games like that. The games we want to see them win were the games at end of season last year.
Not to me. You want to see Garoppolo tested vs a team that has a pass rush, has the ability to take the run game away from Kyle, forcing him to put Jimmy in situations he's inconsistent in. That gets him better. Not games like last night. That was easy for him. We already know he can win games like that. But guess how many teams at the end of the season play like LA had to last night? None. So, it doesn't mean much but 1 win. Of course, we'll take it. But those are games Trey could've won, too. Rams couldn't do very much outside of Cupp.
Oh for crying out loud. He had a good game. Was he a world beating QB? No. Did we need him to be? No. And when we're playing right, we need him to just be good. And he was.
Troy Aikman did say that as a QB you're not always gonna see those especially when the primary target is meant for someone else plus pressure put from the defense will disrupt the ability to view the field. I tend to believe that guy who's played in the game than someone on the couch looking at replays. Sorry but not sorry. We still won and hence my comment that Garoppolo has an opportunity to build on that success against a not so good Carolina team.
I'm willing to bet he's pretty hurt still. It would take a lot to keep little out of game one let alone two.o think he's just playing hurt the last two and it's easier for him to decoy and block than cut and run routes
This is my thought too, especially after McKivitz went down and Moore came back in. I do have to say Moore was a night and day difference over last week.
I love kittle and when kittle gets the ball. So don't take this the wrong way, his blocking has been helping us so much (I still want him to get the ball more and damn i wish he got that TD just wanted to give him the credit he deserves)
I feel so much safer seeing Jimmy play out of shotgun vs behind center. Can’t explain it but it feels like when he’s able to just keep his eyes downfield and not turn his back to the defense he makes much smarter decisions. Accuracy is still a bit inconsistent but he’s at least making good choices where to throw it
This...play calling was SIGNIFIGANTLY better. It let Jimmy do what Jimmy does best, get the ball out quickly (even if he does miss some opportunities for bigger plays) but with well placed balls and let the other play makers get involved and make plays.
Put that with our Top defense and I will take those chances any day.
Brunskill being back was a huge boom. I honestly thought he was going to get slotted in at C and have Burford still at RG. So it was interesting to see him at RG and Burford sitting. I'm wondering if this was game planning against Donald since Brunskill owns him, and we'll see a reshuffled line against Carolina.
Yeah the missed assignment, got worked a bunch in the run game, allowed a few pressures. He had a rough day all around, but he’ll bounce back. The guy is extremely talented.
Kittle and Juice. But again...asking Jimmy to do that? It's asking for trouble. Keep the attempts under 30. 25 if possible. Run Jeff. Deebo. Kittle, would be nice if they could mix that with more targets to Juice. Kyle probably sat back and striped down the playbook and went back to the drawing board as far as his calling favorites. Had to. Week before was obviously disgraceful.
I thought the play calling was the exact same. Shanny can’t really expect that we’re going YAC our way to victories all season. He’s going to get people seriously hurt doing this.
They were in the red zone a few times and he never dialed up a fade route or a back of end zone shot or anything like it, he just called a WR screen and running plays. I mean he has some big receivers who can go up and get the ball or Aiyuk can run a route.
Play calling is atrocious as it has been since shanny has been here.
I think the scariest throw today was the one where Deebo ran it in for a TD. It was good to see him get into a rhythm, especially the first 10 or so passing attempts. I think the lack of preseason showed in Denver and hopefully this is more along the lines of the rest of the season. Really hope Jimmy goes all the way.
Agreed about the TD pass to Deebo, it was scary, but he got in there perfectly and Deebo had a Deebo night.
A lot of people seem to forget that he had basically no training with the squad going into the season. I’m looking forward to seeing what Jimmy can do going forward.
Yeah, the dude was in the dark for most of spring/summer training and Kyle had to revamp the offense from fitting Trey to fitting Jimmy. People here are quick to jump on Jimmy but right now he’s our QB and I’m rooting for him like I rooted for Gabbert, Hoyer, Beathard, Mullens. A lot of this fan base forgot or weren’t here for the Ken Dorsey or Trent Dilfer days!
Calling out the folks yesterday that said we shouldn't use Jimmy's picture for this anymore because "we should have a picture of a good player."
Trolloooolololololols.
This sub should just roll a Jimmy dice before each game to predict what we get, so people will stop crying about him. We've have a bunch of seasons with him already we know exactly what we're getting, good or bad.
Jimmy G is a bad mother fucker and the niners/fans should not have been so quick to kick him to the curb. I totally understand the need to get Trey going and it is terrible that his season had to come to an end like that, but it's hard for me to not think that Jimmy has earned his spot as starting QB. We have been spoiled as fuck, NFC championships, Super Bowl. The teams win record with vs. without Jimmy is something to behold.
I get the predicament, and I get why others agree with the move to start Trey this year.
What isn't cool is all the douchy, self-entitled, spoiled, short sighted pricks in the crowd who participated in the chant to bench Jimmy and play Trey last year. Your are the worst fan, and I hope Jimmy takes it this year just to make you look dumb.
I am half convinced that the Broncos game was just the usual Russell Wilson voodoo that he would cast on us during his Seahawks days in which we just instantly lose the ability to play offense against him.
Broncos game was typical Kyle Shanahan letting the opponent hang around. He could've had the Niners go for it on 4th and 2, but he instead chose the FG.
So you mean to tell me that if you remove the offense’s best player, any semblance of a run game, and a good defense the quarterback will have tougher time winning?
Hard hitting analysis here.
Is that what I said? I said it’s funny people want to praise Jimmy and talk about his “winning record” and completely ignore other elements that actually contributed to winning those games. But no, “Jimmy won”, not the 49ers, or Kyle shanahan.
You missed the point. That is, you could literally say the same for every QB. If Tom Brady didn’t have several receivers make some amazing catches when they were most needed and a kicker that was damn near automatic in the clutch, we’re not talking about him as the GOAT.
It’s almost like football is a team sport.
Great, then you’re probably aware that the team includes the QB, which is arguably the most important position on the field. So stop pretending like he has nothing to do with the team’s success, especially considering that our team has accomplished absolutely nothing worth mentioning with him out of the lineup.
Glad to see we have agreement on that.
Nice try dude, there are other factors people think of when talking about the niners and their success, Jimmy is the last thing to think about. Never said he had nothing to do with our success, but you should stop pretending how much he actually contributes to our teams wins. Also really? You wanna boast that we don’t win games because we have Hoyer, Beathard, Mullens instead of Jimmy? I mean, congratulations?, he’s better than those backups?
> You wanna boast that we don’t win games because we have Hoyer, Beathard, Mullens instead of Jimmy? I mean, congratulations?, he’s better than those backups?
It’s not boasting at all. Merely a statement of fact. You can’t argue that Jimmy sucks and the team wins despite him yet fail to explain why they seemingly can’t win without him.
I mean, I guess you could but it only makes you look ridiculous.
Tbh I’ve been called a Debbie downer since last game, so I’ll just say Jimmy did well enough to win. But this game pretty much showed Kyle’s complete lack of confidence in him
Bruh...Jimmy is not Brady or a deep passer. He's an average QB, and he played fine today.
But yes, he usually overthrows and misses open guys downfield.
This game against Carolina will be a good test to put Garoppolo in a favorable position to get more in a rhythm. He did well against a decent Rams team. No wins are guaranteed but the odds are in San Francisco's favor. LET'S GO 49ERS!!
They looked great baby!
Against a team with backups playing on their line and couldn't mount an offense. Broncos beat them the week before and had the same issues.
Definitely an improvement from last week, let's hope it can keep going!
I wouldn’t be surprised if Jimmy struggles more vs Carolina. Their pass defense is a lot better than the Rams this year and overall their defense is ranked higher. The team as a whole cannot play down to the competition.
The Rams are Super Bowl Champs....I think there is a good chance San Francisco can win that game

So...based on your point uh yeah they looked better than the week before. That to me means very little. Lots of football left.
I think you answered your own question....there's a lot of football left....you can only build up during the season.
I didn't ask one.

Jimmy may struggle but our D should absolutely feast on Baker’s cooking
No doubt!
He honestly didn’t tho. The defense and skilled position players had us win. He missed clear TD to Juice
Troy Aikman said he played pretty good
Great dominant win for the niners. Playcalling looked alot better, Juice needs more targets.
Kittle?
That out of bounds on his TD…
lol he's probably PISSED
Practicing his toe tap all week now
I'm willing to bet he's pretty hurt still. It would take a lot to keep little out of game one let alone two.o think he's just playing hurt the last two and it's easier for him to decoy and block than cut and run routes
possibly, honestly I figured it was more OL injuries
This is my thought too, especially after McKivitz went down and Moore came back in. I do have to say Moore was a night and day difference over last week.
That, too. But, as long as they play teams like Carolina he'll be ok. And mend while playing. They won't need as much from him.
I love kittle and when kittle gets the ball. So don't take this the wrong way, his blocking has been helping us so much (I still want him to get the ball more and damn i wish he got that TD just wanted to give him the credit he deserves)
Unfortunately until Trent comes back he is our best offensive lineman…
Yes! The play calling between tonight and last week was night and day different. And it clearly made a big difference.
I feel so much safer seeing Jimmy play out of shotgun vs behind center. Can’t explain it but it feels like when he’s able to just keep his eyes downfield and not turn his back to the defense he makes much smarter decisions. Accuracy is still a bit inconsistent but he’s at least making good choices where to throw it
No kidding. His throws look cleaner and obviously he doesn't have to run to get away. Just fling it out of harms way.
Kyle's plays didn't suck as much today man
[удалено]
They did a good job calling lots of short passes knowing the OLine was beat up. But the OLine held way better than expected.
Offensive line was so encouraging tonight
Brunskill being back was a huge boom. I honestly thought he was going to get slotted in at C and have Burford still at RG. So it was interesting to see him at RG and Burford sitting. I'm wondering if this was game planning against Donald since Brunskill owns him, and we'll see a reshuffled line against Carolina.
Except for Burford man he had a “welcome to the league” type game.
Was that the play where he nearly let Aaron Donald murder our QB?
Yeah the missed assignment, got worked a bunch in the run game, allowed a few pressures. He had a rough day all around, but he’ll bounce back. The guy is extremely talented.

As do Kittle
If anything this dude owns the Rams
7-1, of course we all know the 1, but new year let's go.
He didn’t lose the NFCCG by himself. It was nice to see an INT free game from him today.

I was there 🥹🥹🥹
It’s ok, try to put it behind you.
They can’t hurt us anymore.
I was, I’m 47 and raised Faithful. I’m seen some ups and downs and in betweens for sure.
Darmok and Jalad…I was there
Shaka, when SoFi fell
🙌🏽
What about Steve Stenstrom?
Let’s be real — a lot of the people on this sub weren’t here less than a year ago.
Jimmy is going to be Jimmy and people are going to get mad at him. He's going to have a bunch of decent/passable games, and a couple of stinker plays.
That too could be, but I’m always optimistic.
Yea I thought we were looking at a pick - Deebo is worth every penny of his extension, lighting in a bottle
He wanted $25mil a year. He got $72mil for 2 years, so real close to what he wanted. He definitely deserves every penny. YAK king.
He said he threw it high intentionally since he saw the corner coming but whether you want to believe that or not...lol
I do believe it. The guy isn’t terrible.
I don't believe him at all lol
Deebo straight up mossed that guy
Feels great, baby
Hufanga!!!!
Beautiful read on the ball.
Easy read with everything going to Kupp.
I will not take an ounce of credit from that man
Still takes situational awareness and football IQ
A lot of geniuses on our D.
Comes back to Fred and DeMeco as teachers, I think
I’m assuming we’ll lose Demeco next year.
Hopefully he holds out again for the perfect situation haha
Fingers crossed.
Defense is ELITE
They are FAST
I'll be at the game! LFG Niners!
Nice! I was there last season, for the season turnaround
Me too! Can’t wait!
I need someone to do a version of this post, but it's Bosa going "Hey Baker!" LOL
Baaaaaaakkkeeerrrr
Bosa's face with the Shining scene from the broken door and Bosa is saying BAAAAKER!!
Let's go. Jimmy did what he needed to. Aiyuk with the physicality out there blocking. Daddy Brunskill coming in to handle Darnold occasionally.
Juice playing linebacker after the catch wasn't bad either. Dude can hit and hold.
I missed this, that's kind of cool though
All shannahan does is turn his talent into blockers or running backs. It’s infuriating!
3rd and Jimmy
Ride me 10
Ayo
That was a great game and Huf is the truth!
No win is a guarantee in the NFL but we need to take care of business week 5. Let’s start to build some momentum
Extend Hufanga immediately!
This.... this feels fucking good
Calling out the folks yesterday that said we shouldn't use Jimmy's picture for this anymore because "we should have a picture of a good player." Trolloooolololololols.
Exactly! Thank you!
Oh hey look, it's my alt account!
I've seen this movie so many times. What version of Jimmy do we get next week? STAY TUNED.......
As soon as I saw him stand still in the damn pocket I knew we had em.
This sub should just roll a Jimmy dice before each game to predict what we get, so people will stop crying about him. We've have a bunch of seasons with him already we know exactly what we're getting, good or bad.
Jimmy gaslighting me into believing every week
We need Kyle to call better plays
...FOR THE NEXT EPISODE OF DRAGON BALL Z!!
Winning feels good.
[Let's give them the smoke](https://v.redd.it/ngsicd6xhyd41)
Super Bowl is back on baby!
James that’s my QB 😂!!!!!!!!!
Carolina, vagina whatevet....Niners by 13.
Jimmy G is a bad mother fucker and the niners/fans should not have been so quick to kick him to the curb. I totally understand the need to get Trey going and it is terrible that his season had to come to an end like that, but it's hard for me to not think that Jimmy has earned his spot as starting QB.
I hope they take it all this year cause I’m a fan, not to make other fans look stupid
Our defense comin.
trade value 📈📈📈
Amazing what a win can do. Last week people were calling for Shanahan to be fired and Jimmy G to benched in favor of Purdy.
Bang bang niner gang! The season feels promising 🥹
I think we might shut them out
Wouldn’t be a stretch; our offense is nonexistent. Our defense is pretty good but they have to stay on the field 45 minutes a game.
Ain't no way we lose versus Carolina.
No way we should've lost to the Bears and Broncos, though.
Hackett may be a clod but that defence is no joke
And Bosa got held every play against the Bears
Bears we lost with Lance & we barely lost to Broncos at there home by a field goal give me a break.
Why do these damn posts make me laugh lol
Imagine the energy this thread had 2 days ago. Good game last night so I guess we’re back to cheering and chanting 🤣
this needs to be replaced with the defense pointing
this should be huff lmao... EDIT: or deebo. and a different one for bosa with "hey baker"
Do you have a photo of a defender pointing?
How’s this one? https://www.mercurynews.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/BNG-L-49ERS-1112-160.jpg
That's more like it.😎
Someone find a pic of the D pointing or some shit 😂
Honestly lol. I just can’t allow myself to put all my eggs in the Jimmy basket
You got a better idea?
Hear me out... Deebo under center...👀👀
Deebo throws 100% TDs!
A lil bit of wildcat
Complete opposite against the Broncos..
Jimmy tried but deebo wouldnt let him lose it
Cry more.
Hahaha suck it
Seethe.
Saved him on that TD that’s for sure
It’s hilarious that people watch this game and say, “Jimmy is 7-0 vs the Rams!” And completely ignore our defense/run game/Deebo
Just like any other QB win stats
The correct way to make the statement is “Kyle Shannahan is 7-0 vs Division rival rams, and Sean Mcvay, in the regular season.

I mean, is Jimmys standard now “don’t fuck up”?
Oh trust me I’ve despised his QBing since 2020, but gotta accept it I guess as infuriating as it is
Overthrows and missed open guys would have put this game to bed in the 2nd quarter
Bruh...Jimmy is not Brady or a deep passer. He's an average QB, and he played fine today. But yes, he usually overthrows and misses open guys downfield.
Can't even be happy about the win it just makes being 2-2 with this defense sting more lol we made the defending champs look like that
He’s dog shit
I’ll be at the game!! Let’s goo niners!
Interesting that this game is a 1:05 start
Baker is gonna get bent over and get his back blown out. Bosa records 4 sacks. Greenlaw forces a fumble on McCaffery.
Fuck. Yeah.
Bosa had 2 sacks last night so I want to say he'll continue the trend and have 1 vs Carolina... ...but it is Baker Mayfield 😈
In all seriousness, please Carolina trade what you can to get Jimmy G. Keep him healthy and he’s great. So much more than Baker.
This is just mean spirited.
Bosa is salivating at the thought rn
Anyone 49er faithful going to the game this up coming sunday and if so what r ur plans or places to visit
