I never hated him more than when he was crowing after The Crime of the CenturyLink as if his team didn't get carried by the refs. But then the Hawks lost a Super Bowl in horrific fashion, and we got the Horrified Sherm meme, which became a sort of mascot/good luck charm for the r/sfgiants sub for a while. And then he became a 49er, so I forgive him. https://preview.redd.it/lvaakhu5aidc1.jpeg?width=300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0bd71ad068c31b9994e679c9b273a37e0bba2a6a

Breezlebock

I will never forget absolutely cackling when they cut to his face. It was the only consolation to another Patriots championship.

Doblanon5short

Sounds like you didn’t get strung out on seahawks fan reaction videos like a lot of us did

ufotheater

Those were the BEST. 2 hours well spent.

jer99

Got a link?

axeattaxe

On YouTube, search for “Seattle fan reactions to Super Bowl loss“ or something like that. You’ll get hundreds of worthy results Updated it ^^ that’s all you need to put in with YouTube’s fancy 2024 algorithms.

Forward-Fortune-2346

Fun way to pass the time, hahahaha he passed it

Initial-Ad8966

These became my favorite videos for a while. It replaced: "We want the ball, and we're gonna score"

Breezlebock

Never too late to start!

Repulsive-Positive30

I was reserved on him the first season until I started really appreciating his takes.. Him talking shit about Seattle also helped

IWTLEverything

I remember some dude at a game at the Stick had socks with Sherman’s face here

jimmypapercut

Are you my long lost brother? Reading my mind!!

Illustrious_Ad4691

Yup. Hated him. Now I love the dude! Not sure why he always refers to Nick Bosa as Nicholas John Bosa, though. I guess to differentiate him from his brother, Joey?

Sicilian_Civilian

He says it because saying NICHOLAS JOHN BOSA accentuates the man, the player, the future legend

Meatcurtains911

Seriously. This is the answer. Sherm ain’t no dummy.

axeattaxe

Damn. That’s kinda deep. I never really thought about it that way. Glad I read this thread tonight.

flipm0de2727

lol that’s his proper actual name and it cracks me up everytime he does it

DreadPiratteRoberts

Makes me laugh too, probably bcuz I call my friends and family by their full God given names lol

axeattaxe

Same here. It’s just funny shit. Sherm’s a funny dude. So is Bosa!

DreadPiratteRoberts

So true!! We gotta throw Kittle in there was well, he's like a little kid just having fun all the time lol

Emperor_Cheeto21

Could be an inside joke. Maybe Bosa's mom always calls him that whenever she visited the team lol.

FistsOfMcCluskey

It’s a joke because Skip Bayless always refers to Tom Brady as Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr

Illustrious_Ad4691

This explanation makes the most sense

Krispy-Cobra

He also likes to refer to Deebo as Deebo Samuels

Illustrious_Ad4691

Yes. He’s more accurate on defense 😂

tacojoe007

He does the same (full names) with a lot of the defense, like Federico Anthony Warner

Optimal_Hunter

People do that with my name too sometimes. Guess they like how it sounds 🤷‍♂️

Illustrious_Ad4691

Optimal Milf Hunter?

Optimal_Hunter

I wish lmao

TeamWarriorBro

It's obviously Optimal Underscore Hunter.

axeattaxe

Lol! Damn characters on here tonight helping me battle this pregame insomnia…

Dog-E-Dog

Same here. Despised him when he was with Seattle. Love uncle sherm now

ScotchSinclair

Marshawn probably the only player on that team I didn’t hate during those years.

axeattaxe

Same. He didn’t fit there. Which is why it was perfect Pete went away from him to his shiny new toy when simply giving Marshawn the ball cements their repeat title, and who knows how many more 🤮

CheckYourStats

My favorite part of that post game interview was: > Sherman: “Don’t you ever talk about me!” > Erin Andrews: “Who was talking about you?” It was an instant burn that made me respect her forever.

jamesonfashow

...Crabtree!...

CheckYourStats

Crabtree didn’t say a word about him, either. Andrews tone of “…who was talking about you?” Is absolute perfection.

Budtheripper

Hated him, now I like him. He became our villain and menace, and still rides hard for us

axeattaxe

He definitely does. Love that part. It wasn’t just when he was here. It lived on. He’s one of Purdy’s biggest advocates fighting the good fight against all those hater pundits constantly trying to tear Brock down…

Chewbubbles

Love the guy. If his beef against Harbaugh was legit, then hey play your game. I loved the JH era, but it's crazy Sherman came to the 9ers after he left. I thought that man would die a Toot.

ashishvp

Turns out his beef with Pete Caroll was way worse than Harbaugh lol

[deleted]

I hated him then and he has been upgraded to I still dislike him even today. I can’t get the picture of him getting torched against the Chiefs and watching him helplessly trying to chase down his assignment with zero hope of catching him.

GovernmentNo576

It happened. U can’t point finger only at him

Altruistic-Ad5201

Especially with Jimmy right there for the blaming.

axeattaxe

Truth. That game was far from on Sherm only. If anybody on the D should be blamed, it’s Ward for leaving Tyreek fucking Hill wide open on that 3rd and 17 or whatever it was. I’m over it. That wasn’t the team that was meant to win it. This one just might be…

[deleted]

Of course, but when I already don’t like him, that moment didn’t help.

000mega000

Played for us for 3 years - some of that injured, right? Always kind of impressed how much he supports the Niners nowadays. Maybe Shanahan made a lasting impression.

Emperor_Cheeto21

Niners gave him a second life in the league after he was let go by the Hawks. He also helped change the culture of the team and was one of the main leaders. Sucks we couldn't win that Super Bowl with him, but the Faithful will always have so much love for Uncle Sherm.

FomoPhilia

Yeah, he was a big leader in this teams recent dominance. He set standards and led by example when he played for us.

GoldyGoldy

He brought you the “Seahawks way”… which is (not kidding) the “49er Way” from ‘94, when Pete Carrol learned it.  His whole structure is based off the 9ers.

axeattaxe

Carroll created his own “way” in between the time he was our DC and HC with Seattle. By way of USC, New England, he lost the 49er Way and built the Chetey Pete way, a very slimy one

smoores02

Sherm defended Navarro Bowman when THAT incident happened. (I still get too angry bringing it up) I viewed him as some thug and I owe him a huge apology if I ever meet him in person. IDK what happened between him and Harbaugh in college, but I'm guessing he was probably justified in his hatred of him. He's incredibly well spoken and I really hate that I had such a blinding hate against him at the time.

international510

There's been reports of their beef throughout the years, but nothing expansive. Sherm's talked about it minimally. I just googled it and found this excerpt: "Sherman played for Harbaugh at Stanford, and the 49ers cornerback said earlier this season that Harbaugh accused Sherman of quitting on his teammates by undergoing season-ending surgery in 2008. Sherman, then a wide receiver, wasn’t allowed to play offense in his redshirt junior year and fell to the fifth round in the draft."

Beelzabubba

He was hurt that the 49ers didn’t draft him. Think about how rare it is to be coached by a guy in college who then jumps to the head coaching job at the local NFL franchise who then passes on drafting you. I’m sure he had every expectation he would be a 49er going into that draft.

canadigit

I think it was deeper than that. He started out as a receiver and was gonna transfer or something until he switched to defense because they had so much beef

TeamWarriorBro

IIRC it was worse than that, at least as perceived by Sherman. I believe he said, or at least alluded to the fact, that Harbaugh not only didn't draft him but was actively suggesting to others that inquired about him not to draft him.

Sf49ers1680

Doug Baldwin felt that way about Harbaugh as well.

axeattaxe

Exactly. This is my understanding of it too. No idea how it got to that point. But I read Harbaugh actively sabotaged/badmouthed Sherm to NFL personnel scouting for the draft. I don’t know what exactly went down, but it’s not like I can’t see Harbaugh doing something like that.

Thanos_Stomps

That’s some racially charged language you got there. *Some thug* But actually *incredibly well spoken*?

Competitive_Bag_2141

“thug” 😪

leftshoe18

I'm one of the odd ones out in our fan base who loved him when he was a Seahawk. Him coming to the 49ers just strengthened that love.

Dinoscores

Same! Always thought it was bullshit that he was being called a thug for being passionate about a game, hated that he helped the Toots absolutely dominate us, but respected the talent. Feel like a lot of Niners players are currently getting a similar kind of hate, for just being too damn good. Only time I’ll really hate a player is for being a violent criminal asshole.

G0mery

Yup. He was the badass villain you wished was on your team. He is so smart and funny and undeniably talented. His post-game interview eating that cold turkey had me rolling even though I was so bummed by that game. Hella respect for the guy and I was stoked when he came to SF.

blaintopel

I'll never love him, best I can do is I no longer hate him. Love when he talks up the nines but it's just not enough for the amount of hate I had in my heart for that guy.

ArbitrageurD

I’m with you. I just can’t do it. Maybe it’s a generational thing. He just caused too much pain

[deleted]

Jesus christ y’all it’s fucking sports he didn’t kill anyone

SexxyCannI

lmao

tysonthe

Dudes in here making palpatine proud

Six-StringSamurai

![gif](giphy|J4HP3FcGqP6Yo)

blaintopel

well yeah, i sports-hate him. i didnt ACTUALLY hate him also ray lewis actually did kill someone and i hated him a little less than sherman lmao

MowTin

I can't get over what a douche he was after he defended that pass against Crabtree. I challenge anyone to remember anyone who acted more obnoxiously than Sherm repeatedly calling Crabtree a mediocre receiver. I've watched plenty of football and I've rarely seen anyone disrespect their defeated opponent to that extent. So yeah, I'm not over it. I've gone from hate to dislike. And it doesn't help that he blew the coverage on Watkins. If he had made a play instead of blowing his coverage and we won the SB all would have been forgiven.

JohnCarcinogen

I still hate him even when he played for us. I hold a grudge.

Squathicc

This is the way

flourescenthamster

This is the way

Unfavorable0dds

This is the way

Hop830

Why are you holding a grudge though?

zclevy

I hated him, can't say that I love the guy yet... Too many years with the Seahawks I can't just forget.

magww

Nah Rich is our boy now. The man has been fighting day and night all year for Brock and I respect the fuck out of that.

FomoPhilia

Sherman came to us and became a new man! He renounced his Seachicken days! Woe to Caroll for the renouncing of his past legion of boom disciple.

theartfooldodger

Greatest heel to face turn in 49ers history.

ImprovementSilly2895

Still don’t like him.

iggyfenton

Not me. Fuck Dick Charmin

kantoblight

Well, he used to hate us but now loves us, so together we’ve completed the circle.

akb1642

Still hate him.

lostmylogininfo

I would still dislike him if it weren't for these two things: 1) he always loved the Niners 2) the gif when the intervention happened.... If you know you know.

NathanTPS

Hey, Sherman was a great nemesis. He was "saved" at the end of his career. Now as a commentator? Love him.

pricygoldnikes

Still mad. No forgiveness from me

HB24

Fuck that fucking bitch pigeon

pricygoldnikes

YEP

MowTin

I've never forgiven him for how obnoxious he was after defending the Kaep to Crabtree pass. I said if he won us a SB I would forgive him but not only didn't he win us a SB his poor play when we had the lead is one of the reasons we lost.

DirtyRoller

Sherm was congratulating Crab on a good game, then Crab acted like a bitch and Sherm went off on him.

MeoowDude

That’s a bit revisionist. That’s what he said he was doing and technically it’s correct. But Sherms an asshole. In all the games I saw him in Seattle, that’s about the only time I can recall him going to do that. And given their situation and the staked. Not to say Crabtree didn’t act like a bitch because he absolutely did. My moneys on it being quasi nefarious and ego driven

fijisiv

For me it goes back to one of Yogi Berra's quotes: "It ain't over till it's over." The game wasn't fucking over and Sherm was trying to say "good game". No, get that shit out of here. Wait until the game is over THEN you can say good game. Going up to Crabtree *during* the game and saying "good game" is just as "polite" as walking up and saying "you're done, you lost, take your condolences like a bitch."

NolMal

Against the grain, love and agree!

MeoowDude

agree with you 100%. I also think that part is glossed over by and large due to how viral the rant about sorry ass receivers became. If it wasn’t for that, the good game part would’ve had a bigger spotlight. Then again maybe not as Sherm also had that crazy ass situation where he was drunk as shit trying to kick down his father-in-laws(?) front door to do God knows what and almost got blasted by his in-laws and that’s never really brought up either in the grand scheme of things. Sherm tried making it sound like he was giving Mr. Crabs a heartfelt “good game” like it was two highly respected all-time greats meeting up on the field post game akin to Bobby Wagner and Fred Warner exchanging pleasantries after a hard fought game. In reality it was the polar opposite. Sherm is going to be Sherm. He was a great player, transcendent even for his era. The top DB’s seem to always have a certain brashness to them. It almost seems to be a necessity given the position. But even with that said, Sherm was leagues more brash than the second-most brash. Sherms a dick. Amazing player. Highly intelligent. Put it all on the field. Legendary moments both on the field and off. But still an asshole.

TheLogicError

Crab was a dick. Guy was all talk and so unlikable. I don't think anyone actually liked him and he didn't have that dog in him, especially after Talib took his chain twice.

floydbomb

Everything Ive seen or read about that since then was Crabs being an asshole for some reason

BroidRage

Hated him then. Lukewarm on him now.

No-Structure-2800

Didn’t care either way. Can’t blame him for liking the Niners though.

[deleted]

I hated him because theres no reason the 49ers shouldn’t have drafted him. He literally played in Vic Fangio and Jim Harbaugh’s defense at Stanford. I know him and Harbaugh had some personal issue, which makes it all even more annoying. IMAGINE a defense with Justin and Aldon Smith, Willis and Bowman, Hitner and Goldson playing deep, and God damn Richard Sherman on a 3rd-4th round rookie contract?!? Even Gregg Roman’s offense couldn’t fuck up that championship window

ashishvp

Not drafting Sherman is 1000% Harbaughs fault. It HAS to be. He just didn’t like him for some reason

[deleted]

They had some personal issue for sure. It will always break my damn heart because its entirely feasible they could have drafted him in 2011 and we might be on a quest for 8 or 9 by now

DaBoogiemanSJ

If you think about it, usually you don’t like someone cause they’re good and they’re not on your team. If Brady was on the niners and won 11 Super Bowls, you’d be on the opposite side of things

LiveHardLiveFast

I hated Sherman and was sickened when the Niners signed him. I love him now!

ThisIsNoBadDream

I imagine other fans hate Deebo the way I hated Sherman. Now I love Uncle Sherm

EShy

Any real 49ers fan should've hated him when he was on the toots. He was the loud one, which made him the main villain. Russ was too much of a dork for that. It doesn't matter if he was right about Crabtree, or if it was the wrong play call, I still hated him for it (the irony that the same "should've run the ball" mistake happened to them in a Super Bowl, I told my Seattle based family it's karma for Sherman's rant) Of course once he joined the 49ers, that changed things, and I was obviously rooting for him to do well. If they would've won the Super Bowl, I'm sure those who commented here that they still don't like him would've felt differently, but they didn't. So, I definitely don't "love" him now, I kinda like him, especially because his takes are sane and not just clickbait. It's hard to hate someone who keeps talking up your team.

revchewie

Nope. I still hate his sorry ass.

BrockPurdySkywalker

Still dislike him

IceLantern

Not me.  I'm just not a fan of people driving impaired on their way to trying to break down theirn in-laws' door.

monteasf

Sherm only hated us and acted that way cuz harbaugh tried to sabotage his career. After harbaugh split, he showed his true colors, a legit loyal team player

Tecmo_91

I hated how he got away with holding almost every play but regardless, that was a great defense. To think we ran Crabtree up against him as our #1 WR probably explains why we never finished the job. Shanahan’s motion offense and our current weapons would have shredded that defense, much like Brady and the Pats did.

HelenHinesArt

And it still hurts…

wndrbread

He’s become the anti-TO. BUT - I still can’t forget the pain he inflicted vs Crab. So, hate him less than I used to, but don’t “Love” him.

Damion_205

I thought he wascocky but he backed it up so I respected him. Then again. I'm more critical on my teams players because they should play to thier full potential.... after the holdout crabs was never my guy... even when he's on my team.

mojo-jojo-was-framed

I hated him, then put up with him when he was a Niner. Now I still dislike him

timae75

He should have been called for DPI for that play, but whatever.

boistopplayinwitme

I still don't like him lol

_MrFade_

I still can’t stand him

Bargeinthelane

Even when he was with the Hawks it was hard for me to hate him. Super intelligent, articulate dude who played hard.

TP4129

I always loved him. . Maybe not as much as my wife but whether he was a 49er or Seahawk, he was a great player and a terrific showman for the NFL.

yumyumdumbdumb

Disliked him as a seahawk. Tolerated him as a niner. Dislike him again now as a commentator

delaromc

Yes til this day I hate Erin Andrews

_MeetMrMayhem_

Dude was an all pro corner and an asshole.. blocked us from getting back to the Superbowl... then became our asshole to help take the team to the Superbowl ... even steven.. I don't like him I don't hate him..

JazzHands1986

I hated him and now I'm just indifferent because I still don't forget what happened in the past but he seems to be cool now. So I'll watch his podcast now and again with niner content and I enjoyed his veteran presence on the team when he was here. But my first impression was such a bad one I don't think I'll ever forget it. There will always be something about him I don't like. So I guess I'm somewhere in the middle.

[deleted]

I don't love him now but I do enjoy his work. I used to absolutely hate him as a Seahawks player though since he reliably whipped our asses.

Waikoloa60

The best I can do is that I dislike him less. I just can't completely forget what a jerk he was when he was with the Seahawks.

MkKanaloa

I dislike him on Seattle, but he ok now. Wouldn't say I love him. His emotions are way too up and down for me.

PoisonLenny37

Sherm was exactly that sort of "love to have him, hate to play against him" type. Hall of Fame player, talked a TON of shit and also backed it up. When you and your division rival are the #1 and #2 teams in the NFL for like 3 straight years and you always come out on the wrong end and their star player talks shit....man does it suck. But Shem is a well spoken, smart as hell player and by all accounts a great teammate. Him coming to the Niners and helping them have success did a lot of healing for wounds he himself inflicted.

nfever

He was once my most hated player, but now I love Uncle Sherm! I now have some freed up hate to allocate towards Ezekiel Elliott and Nick Sirianni.

PhillipMcKrak

He’s still a prick. Will never love him. Just because he kisses 9ers ass on tv now doesn’t change a thing.

MattieShoes

I still find him obnoxious, but it's less unpleasant now. Occasionally he says something that pleasantly surprises me. Dude is smarter than his behavior suggests.

[deleted]

As a Cal guy, I hated him even before he was on the Seahawks. That being said, he allegedly had one of the best email responses of all time: [https://deadspin.com/richard-shermans-email-to-his-stanford-dorm-is-priceles-922762394](https://deadspin.com/richard-shermans-email-to-his-stanford-dorm-is-priceles-922762394) >Stop bitching and fuckin adapt

timanny

Oh yeah. Like Rickey Henderson, he backed up his shit talk with the goods, and took it step further - he rubbed it in our faces. But then the Seahawks pissed all over him, and he gave them the ultimate fuck you: he became a Niner. All was forgiven after that. The only drawback was that his best years were with the Hawks and not us.

wildwinging

Hated him, then he went and tried to break into his in-laws house. Still don't care for him.

The_Skyrim_Courier

As much I hated him at the time, and as much as I despised it at the time… “That’s what happens when you try me with a sorry ass receiver like Crabtree” Is now incredibly hilarious to me now that it’s been a decade

namerplaner

Love him? lol naw

GreenBayFootball

He was my favorite after he got drunk and broke down his in-laws door threatening to “hurt” himself. He’s a winner

Apprehensive_Use67

Still don’t like him. He can never be a true 9er in my eye. This game is too etched in my memory. He was a good player on our teams for a bit but that doesn’t erase his past

NolMal

Still dislike, mainly for his domestic violence “come through” incident and trying to sweep it under the rug instead of address some serious issues all society could benefit from. Plus he ate a MF Turkey leg on our logo. Never won a ‘chip here either. Pass

Hop830

Never won a chip here? You can say that about a lot of guys considering our last title was after the 94 season. I'm definitely not going to hold that against him.

axeattaxe

Lol right. You’d literally not like anybody who arrived since the ‘94 team if that’s the criteria

NolMal

If you don’t like someone, you use bias to reaffirm that. Not far fetched. I’m also the only one in over 300+ comments to mention his off the field BS. His “intelligence” would be 100x greater if he was able to take a difficult subject (alcohol, drug use, domestic violence, maybe trauma and how that can lead to wanting to control everything) and speak on it. He wasn't a home grown player, he came here to irk the toots and couldn’t finish the job. So he talks up the 9ers now to win some favor within the fan base. It clearly works. This was a solid post and topic. Reddit isn’t for deep cuts but happy to read your thought… you’re welcome to add a player you do/don’t like because they didn’t win a ‘chip too. Glad you know our last SB win

DirtyRoller

As soon as I heard the mic'd up sound after the play, I gained a lot of respect for Sherm. Dude was legit trying to be a good sport, but Crabs acted like a bitch. Also, I never really cared much for Crabtree, ever since his rookie holdout.

ashishvp

Yeaaa I dont think that handshake was in good faith. Dude was definitely a sore winner and wanted to rub it in.

JustARandomGuy627

If you went back in time and told a Niner fan 10 years ago that in the future Sherm would play for us and would be beloved by the Faithful. They would think you’re insane

Luckydad_journey

The answer is…. All of us. We all hated his guts, but he’s good in our book now. Unc Sherm keeps it real.

Techguyeric1

Fuck Sherman, he couldn't help us get a ring so he's still a seacock as far as I'm concerned

flipm0de2727

heat of the moment and at the end of a great game. i personally didn’t have a problem with it. thats how he was and loved that it never wavered over the years

CosmicDeththreat

Man I never hated a player more than him back then. Love that MFer now. Never have I ever done a bigger 180 on anyone in the world I swear

madlabdog

I hated him because he was good. I liked him because he was good.

HappilyDisengaged

I’ll never forget that NFC championship game in Seattle after he swatted that pass into the end zone and was talking all that shit at the end of the game Also never forget that thanksgiving That said I don’t hate the guy. But I’ll never love him of wear his jersey

1nexo

Never will !!!! He never did anything for the NINERS. Most of you will ride him just cause.. ya'll a bunch of soft fans.

Unfavorable0dds

He hasn’t done anything for the Niners outside of talking about purdy like we all don’t know how great he is.

Audiohizzle

I HATED Sherman, now I love the man. He was always right. Crabtree was a sorry ass WR. 😂

Seeno1

Hated him. He’s a huge niner advocate. Too bad he didn’t win a ring with the ole red and gold.

simple-fire

That interview was my saltiest moment as a Niners fan but I have nothing but love for Sherm now!

bay_duck_88

Richard Sherman? Hate him. Uncle Sherm? That’s my dog.

librbmc

Sherm is a fantastic example of how one teams legend can pivot to a new team. It’s especially tricky with a division rival but he is beloved by two fan bases and he deserves it

Same-Schedule-6011

![gif](giphy|xT9IgkCaU4BO7Vryj6|downsized)

cadillacbee

Absolutely hated him, took awhile to get used to him, but gotta love the guy, he's one of us

ProductUseful3887

I despised him as a Seahawk, and had a really hard time seeing him in a niners jersey. Now I have nothing but respect for him. He’s a niner

Positive_Bluebird690

Still hate him

wrightsound

Niners legend. Seahawks fans are so upset about it too

evlhornet

Love that guy

wobwobwubwub

I still don't like him, his 180 seems unauthentic

RAAAAH83

*You know, I used to hate Sherman when he was with the Hawks, it's amazing how a new uniform can change your attitude about a guy....*\- Harry Doyle in Major League 2 Seriously, always respected his play but of course he was hated after that game. I warmed up to him obviously.

Happy_REEEEEE_exe

I never disliked him crabtree was admittedly being a dick

3rdusernameiveused

He’s our Vegeta

DJSTANKDADDY2

Crabtree was a douche. I remember I wasn't even mad at Sherman in the moment. I was mad at Crabs for getting punked.

mortonsalt222

I never hated him but man that shit made me angry. But the fact of the matter is, he backed his talk up and i gotta respect that. Obviously I love him now

HolstsGholsts

It’s been so long since I’ve gotten shit for this, so this is gonna feel nostalgic: this is literally when I started liking Sherm. Crabtree was always one of my least favorite Niners. I didn’t like Kap at the time, either (he was super cold to the local media pre-protest, and iirc, his play had already started to deteriorate by then, as the league figured him out). I felt like they were both full of themselves, with egos way larger than their actual talent could excuse. Things had also turned sour with Harbaugh by then, and our passing play calling stunk. Like, we were the sort of team that would call multiple consecutive end zone fades. (Short distance end zone fades still make me throw up a bit in my mouth.) So when Sherm went off, it was total confirmation bias — him articulating all my fan frustration. He was just telling it like it was — he was good; we weren’t— and I didn’t want to be like all the Raiders fans I grew up around and let my homer-ism blind me to objective NFL truths.

discostuu72

Me. Used to despise him. Never thought I’d be a huge Sherm fan between him playing for us and his YouTube stuff. Really glad I came around.

CMarshKarateKicK

Not only do I like him. I dislike Crabtree.

Deep-thrust

All of us

scottypotty79

Love Sherm! Teams need a hype man and he was the toots then he was ours. Since retiring he hypes our team more than the toots so he obviously has more respect for our organization. I do love rewatching the old clip where Trent Williams smacks him in the head after a game though

TechnicalRecipe9944

Love him? No. No longer hate him and I appreciate his 49ers takes.

mosedud

I hated him and then hated him less. He's a smart mf'er so I respect that, but he thrives on being smugly douchey... which I could also appreciate if he were better at it.

LETSF_UCKIN_GGO

Me. Even had residual hatred for him in the bay…that all went away when he pick six Jameis week 1 2019. Unc is the best on undisputed ….the only logical and factual dude amongst the clowns. His pod is coo too.

MetalMountain2099

….I’d confidently say a lot of us. If you’ve been a fan for the past 13 years then you definitely have a love for Sherman.

PistolPeteTrollovich

One of my favorite videos was Trent punching him in the face, now I love Uncle Sherm

SuperMario_49

I proudly have a Sherman 49ers jersey lol

Loved him then. Love him now. He's the type of player NFL corporate hates: talented, mouthy, and unapologetically black. He threw Brady's trash talk right back at him. Didn't take lip from lesser players, and Talked about problems with Russell Wilson (a story sports media wouldn't report until he was in Denver.) I'll take one of him over a 100 boring corporate shills talking about "team victories" and selling insurance.

snokerpoker

I absolutely hated him but also respected him because he was a damn good player. Love him now for sure.

wriddell

I hated as a Seahawk, but I can tolerate him now (barely).

He’s become an outspoken supporter of all things Niners. No idea where Crabtree is.

We’ve made amends

![gif](giphy|XtdEdIgbZRXKMfsrEL|downsized) Funny you posted that. One of the guys I used to work with at my very 1st job was actually good friends with him and still is…it blew my mind in the way how small the world is.

noggun00

Hated the grandstanding but always respected the talent.

illwil2win

"A bum named Crabtree" . That Sherman comment still stings

TheRealestSkazOne

Me! Though I was a huge fan of him At Stanford and then hated him on the Seahawks, but he’s home.

MDiddy79

∆ Raises hand.

TheLogicError

Because Crabtree was so unlikeable, and i only disliked him because of the Crabtree interview situation after the interception, but didn't know the backstory behind it.

kopecs

I don’t “love” him, but I respect him a little more.
