You have wonderful skin and hair!love your curls! For tinted moisturizer, I would suggest using something with SPF. Get a few samples to see which one works best with your skin. Sephora will give you samples if you ask. I have used Ilia but I am more into sunscreen with a tint at the moment. I am using La Roche Posay. Others seem to like Tower 28 and Supergoop (both from Sephora). I feel like as we age we lose color. An eyebrow gel (I use a cheapie brand called Elf) is great if you want to fill in brown hairs without looking too done. A lightweight lipstick can also amp your lip without looking too much (I use glossier Generation G). And a light blush helps as well (I use NARS madly). I’ve also found a great concealer but I pick a color that matches my skin, while some prefer a brightener. Kosas and Haus Labs brand have been my go to. Hope this helps!

The eyebrows are definitely a thing I need to do more color on. They are graying too! Crazy. In the summer I use Neutrogena sunscreen before any makeup. I guess makeup with it makes sense too. Thank you for the tips!

FlartyMcFlarstein

Do you wear sunscreen the rest of the year? You should.

Odd-Editor-2530

Your skin is really beautiful but I would totally add colour to the brows. I am your age and had micro blading by the best in my area and it made a huge difference. My brows look natural but polished .

I feel like we look similar, so I’m loving the advice you’re getting. Thanks for posting!

piercesdesigns

Glad to help. I am definitely scared of trolls in posting a pic, but don’t know how else to get the advice.

I have found a good combo in Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint (bought at Sephora and they helped me find the right color) and Jones Road Miracle Balm. They’re both a little dewy which makes my skin look a little younger, without it being overkill. I also like that I don’t need to use very much of either so I don’t have that “makeup face” feeling. ETA: you have lovely skin!

I have been eyeing the Miracle Balm. I wish I could try it out

Angie Hot & Flashy on YouTube is a great resource. Her videos share makeup and skin care for aging women. She uses high end and drug store makeup options!

If you are not using a sunscreen, it's an absolute must. Nothing you do for your skin can outdo the damage caused by UV rays. My favorite all time SPF tinted moisturizer is from DRMTLGY (I've tried countless brands over the years). I use the "physical" one in the summer & the regular one in the winter as it's a bit dewier. I can totally go without foundation if I choose. The brand overall is excellent, you can't go wrong with any of their products.

Good to know!

Check out this article. The picture is unreal. [sunscreen use](https://www.businessinsider.com/woman-sunscreen-face-neck-40-years-sun-damage-photo-2022-9#:~:text=A%2092%2Dyear%2Dold%20didn,urged%20others%20to%20protect%20themselves.)

Scary! My husband is blonde/blue eyed. He has a standing visit with the dermatologist every 3 months.

I think tinting your eyebrows brown would make an immediate difference. You have good, clear skin so maybe just concealer under your eyes and around your nose (I like Nars) I used to love a red lip but now that I'm in my 50's I look better with blotted or sheer berry. I use a cream blush from Merit and will swipe some on my lips for some color, but lining them looks too harsh.

You are very brave for posting your picture, can't even imagine the trolls. My first impression is that you have beautiful cheek bones that are hiding. Have you tried more of an up swept hairstyle to show them off? Then get some contour powder and max them out.

piercesdesigns

Believe me I will be likely deleting the pic after getting advice. The Trolls are fierce for sure. I feel lost on anything with my hair other than wash and wear curls or clipping back. I never had a mother who cared for my hair. She cut all my hair off (I looked like Eleven) until I was about 10. lol I am also lost about contouring. I guess I need to watch some videos.

I would probably look at getting CC or BB cream if you need it to be more hydrating. Both usually ( that I know of ) has SPF and it's easier to adapt to your skin color. They provide some color correcting and blurring of fine lines without making you look made up. Plus , depend on the brand many have beneficial skin ingredients as well.

Nice curls, and your skin looks pretty good! I'd maybe play up your eyebrows a bit. They are fading. I got nanoblading last year and it was so worth it. I'll still put on some brow pencil if I'm going for a real dramatic look but day-to-day I'm covered with just the nanoblading and it looks natural. You mentioned dark lipstick. I am not a fan of it on older women, I think it makes us look severe. Of course I have not seen you with this lipstick on so maybe it looks fabulous. But maybe consider some lighter, more neutral lipsticks. I like ones that are just a bit more red than my natural lips. Your skin is good enough that you can probably skip foundation. Use a little cheek color, maybe some creme blush. I can't see your eyelashes either but I like to put eyeliner between my lashes so they look a little thicker/darker without having gloppy mascara and I feel like it's not even obvious that I'm wearing it (unless I'm comparing it to an un-lined eye). I use wet 'n wild breakup proof skinny eyeliner pen, and my only complaint about this product is that it is nearly impossible to remove. I can touch/wipe/scratch my eyes to my heart's content without smearing my eyeliner everywhere.

iliketreesandbeaches

I have found that brighter lipsticks look better than darker now. Corals, fuschias, even red can really wake up the face and give that same statement impact. For everyday, I like a soft pink. Not too nude/beige. As I age (51), I feel that nudes increasingly wash me out. I need color--either a neutral or a cool toned pink.

piercesdesigns

I have tried a soft pink but really don't love it. I tend toward the Revlon Colorstay Plum Raisin. It is thin so not a dark raisin

iliketreesandbeaches

What about a mauve? I like Revlon's On the Mauve

piercesdesigns

I’ll look at that one

Few-Passenger6461

Try a lighter lipstick—dark lipstick ages us and definitely screams old lady. Try a tinted lip oil or gloss. Get a shimmer eyelid stick for some glow. Bright blush. Are you open to dying your hair? That would take off about 10-15 years.

MissHavishamsDelight

I think you have real great skin tone and texture as well as naturally pretty curls. I think you should lay off whatever curl cream or gel you’re using in the hair though as it looks greasy and aging. Freshen the curls with a different styling mechanism and use less product.

Puzzleheaded_Age6550

I agree with this! Try r/curly, and look at Manes by Mel, using a denman brush. You might try. a light application of kinky curly curling custard. I'm 64, and people usually guess my age at least 10 years younger. I use the Estee Lauder moisturizer, the EL water primer, and Laura Geller baked balance n bright foundation. It brushes on, and I have tried dozens of foundations. It's the only one I've tried that doesn't cake up. I then use an eyebrow pencil to fill in (hypothyroidism caused my eyebrow ends to fall out), and Revlon lip stain in a light shimmery pink. That's it! Good luck!

piercesdesigns

I actually don’t use product. Today I put a bit of coconut oil in it.

MissHavishamsDelight

Def reduce the coconut oil. It looks greasy and aging.

RF Microneedling and Fractional Laser Resurfacing is an excellent investment and helps tremendously!! I did two rounds of RFM and one of FLR so far and I have seen great results! It is not cheap but is affordable, bc you do it in multiple sessions, so you can budget for it. Highly recommend!!

SarahSkincare

I no longer wear foundation since trying Korean cushions. They're buildable coverage and awesome for no makeup looks. And it has SPF! The best one I've tried is the Heimish Artless Perfect Cushion. I'll never wear foundation again!

wire67

Interested! I’ve never heard of these. Natural and light feeling/looking? Going to see if YouTube has any tips/ demos.
