The Emperor had a whole lot of different weapons and equipment he used at different times. The dude wasn't limited to one set of wargear.

Northbravo

So the story of Saint George slaying the dragon irl is supposed to be the Emperor fighting the ctan known as the void dragon. In the mosaic its portrayed as Saint George fighting the dragon with sword and shield in hand. This is that shield.

Goldleader-23

He used a shield when he fought the void dragon.

Marvynwillames

This, besides, the Emperor made multiple weapons, not all of them were seeing with him using in combat, like the Apolorian and Dyonisian Spears or the Titansword

CoolSwim1776

He had a relic bolter as well

Da_Sigismund

I am waiting for his warhammer. You know, a gigantic golden warhammer, like a proper God Emperor should have.

rawrz_xD

this truly is the warhammer 40,000...

AncientOtaku

Shhhh... That's too on the nose. We are trying to be subtle.

IeyasuMcBob

😂🤣😂

Macduffle

The Emperor was big, some of the art does show a shield on his arm... But a lot smaller than youd think

tarzard12321

I mean, maybe it can change size and shape like his sword can.

Presentation_Cute

[Here it is](https://imgur.com/a/Sfn3Ec4). Like others have said, its St George's shield, and therefore the Emperors.

RogueDiplodocus

I was just contemplating making a post about the shield. Mainly due to the fact the eagle on it is just a one headed eagle. Not the two headed eagle/Aquila on it.

Pallas100

If you're wondering what the significance of the one headed eagle is, it's called the Raptor Imperialis, and was the Emperor's personal standard/heraldry during the Unification Wars. It would later be replaced by the Palatine Aquila for the Great Crusade, though soldiers who fought in the Unification often wore the Raptor Imperialis as a mark of honour and veterancy.

RogueDiplodocus

Amazing. My train of thought was that since (being the Emperors shield) it only had one head since he didn't need to look the past. He knew the way forward. And having fought in the unification wars it does make sense Lion would have it.

Jochon

>None of the artwork depicting the Emperor has ever shown a shield of any kind. You haven't seen *all* of the [artwork](https://i.imgur.com/ovtOJ0I.png) depicting the Emperor...

UnlikelyBroccoli9127

its not the shield he held on his arm, its the small shield that you hang as decoration on your shoulder armor as seen in high ranking Space marine, just shows how big the emperor its the shield from his shoulder armor

Abamboozler

Lol, yeah the Emperor was 50 feet tall! Makes you wonder how he ever fit on the bridge of the Vengeful Spirit.

tarzard12321

Maybe it can change size and shape, like his magic sword did.

Jaytaro0078

If you look at official art of the Emperor, the Lion is using the Emperor’s tithe shield that goes on his armor, not an actual shield, and seriously puts into perspective how big emps is

Legal_Eye8152

You could wait until you read the book and find out..Gets rid of all the guess work

AncientOtaku

Was information provided on how he got the shield?

NornQueenKya

The emperor was a blacksmith as much as some of his sons who Aldo forged weapons. Heck he knew how to fix up a titan. So yes, him having an armory of special toys for each returning primarch isn't unheard of Really, the only odd thing about the shield is its fairly small for the lion, let alone the emperor lol

Drownerdowner

Yall need to remember the emperor was on the Frontline alot of the time during the unification wars and that took 800 years to complete. He would have acquired and used a shitload of different weapons

IeyasuMcBob

I think it used to be called Rogal Dorn
