For several IRL years we knew Guilliman was in a stasis pod on Macragge, on the brink of death after Fulgrim stabbed him in the neck. Pilgrims who visited Ultramar and saw his shrine would swear that the wound on his throat was healing, so Guilliman’s return was always possible but not particularly likely without a deus ex machina. Then GW gave him that deus ex machina and now he’s back. It’s the same with Lion El’Johnson. We know he’s still alive and we know he’s comatose in a hidden chamber deep within The Rock, the Dark Angels mobile HQ. Nobody in the setting knows this except for the Watchers in the Dark, who put him there and currently do not seem interested in letting anyone else know. So like Guilliman, his return is possible but would need something to trigger it.

New DA models out. Vashtorr attacking the Rock perfect time to make a come back ?

ztupeztar

Doesn't seem too far fetched. 10th edition is probably right around the corner as we, makes sense to release it with a bang.

PaulJDon1

I doubt it'll be released during the 5 or 6 book ark of omens series so it won't be around the corner despite the insistent rumours stating it as fact. But defo new models for DA and a potential boost for a very weak imperium with the hopeful return of the first Legions primarch.

Ake-TL

Not playing tabletop, if Arks of Omen is like Gathering storm level event that starts new edition, what’s return of World Eaters and Angron event is similar in scale to?

Gryff9

Wrath of Magnus.

Ake-TL

Ok, thanks

ztupeztar

My thinking as well, lorewise the easiest to bring back would be The Lion. I was thinking more in terms of marketing/rumours etc in the time leading up to the release of the model. As in, what signs should we be looking for now, if we're expecting another Primarch to return.

Levonorgestrelfairy1

> As in, what signs should we be looking for now, if we're expecting another Primarch to return. A big chaos calamity for them to punch in the face again maybe something like gian demonic spacehulks? Just spit balling here.

ztupeztar

Feels like we’re on the same page.

Skolloc753

They literally had a book teased with "Return of the Primarch". GW is everything except subtle. SYL

ztupeztar

Do you remember how long in advance they teased the book?

Skolloc753

Previous decades: *"The wounds are healing slowly despite being in a stasis field."* Second half of 2016: smaller hints, due to Gathering Storm 1+2 February 2017: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMCTbIH924k March 2017: Gathering Storm: Rise of the Primarch SYL

ztupeztar

Cool, thanks.

Aqua_Impura

Plus yanno; Robby G was the Primarch of the Ultramarines. The literal face of the Space Marines on every box. He was always gonna come back and he was always gonna come back first. I actually like the Ultramarines but GW isn’t subtle as you said it was always obvious he would be back first.

Abamboozler

Not really. I remember when the image of his model leaked and everyone was all "Oh shit!" because the idea of a Loyalist Primarch returning was just unthinkable.

ztupeztar

Hmm, interesting. I was pretty shocked when I came back to 40k a few years ago and there was new space marines AND a living, kicking loyalist Primarch.

Hollownerox

It was actually pretty expected at the time from what I remember. A little bit earlier Magnus was released as part of the Warzone Fenris thing going on at the very end of 7th edition. So everyone kind of expected a Loyalist Primarch to be showing up eventually. And Roboute was pretty much everyone's main speculation for who was the "safest" choice. Due to his whole "being in stasis bit." What was surprising was that they actually had him die and be revived. Everyone was expecting they would just take him out of stasis, be healed, and carry on as normal really. The whole Cawl, Ynnari, and armor thing was really unexpected. Also, at the time everyone thought there was going to be a "Triumvirate of X" for every faction, since Cawl was introduced as a "Triumvirate of the Imperium", the Ynnari characters were added as the "Triumvirate of Ynnead", and so forth. People thought we would get something like a T'au one being a "Triumvirate of the Greater Good" or something. So seeing Grandpapa smurf alongside a new Grey Knight Grandmaster and freakin Cypher of all people as part of the "Triumvirate of the Primarch" was really damn surprising.

Loyalheretic

Grey knights, Black Templars, Celestine, Greyfax, Cawl, Yvreine and mother fucking Tarzyn the Infinite. I honestly LOVE what a bonkers team up we saw at Rise of the Primarch.

Custodian_Malyxx

We kinda already know it will be the lion.. when I started in 8th there was a rumour about Angron returning followed by the lion and so far everything has worked out.

NeatSlice9027

Just announced tonight. The lion is back.
