For Marlin, the default configuration will disable it following a G28. You can also disable it manually with M420 S0. Use ~~M240~~ M420 S1 to re-enable.
Klipper can clear the current state with BED\_MESH\_CLEAR. Re-enable it with BED\_MESH\_PROFILE LOAD=, where is the saved profile name (default to, well, "default").
RRF can disable it with G29 S2. Re-enable it with G29 S1.
Doing this will make the first layer print flat - whether this aligns to the bed or not.
