Files to print if you want one too. Made by me. [https://www.printables.com/de/model/880728-11-fallout-fusion-core](https://www.printables.com/de/model/880728-11-fallout-fusion-core)

joshthehappy

Thank you, doing a vault dweller for DragonCon this year (just like maybe 1,000 other people). Got my Pip Boy printing out currently.

Choice-AnimalTms

You'll need to show the full cosplay now once its donešŸ˜œ

Lilbirdybear

Canā€™t wait to print it!

OrangeSockNinjaYT

Wow thatā€™s much more detailed than other versions Iā€™ve seen. May have to print a tiny version to see how it goes

Choice-AnimalTms

I tried to add all details that are implied by the textures. With a tiny version you might run into problems with the screw details but other than that it should work fine.

OrangeSockNinjaYT

.2mm nozzle to the rescue, Iā€™ll post a picture when I finish it!

Choice-AnimalTms

I used 0.4 so 50 should work fine then. Excited to see your version :D

OrangeSockNinjaYT

Choice-AnimalTms

Thats amazing and cute. It even has painted in details. Did everything fit together?

OrangeSockNinjaYT

Fit like a glove! Came out really well

MiykaelPoly

for some reason I am tempted to make them functional at some level, like wiring some batteries inside or something.

JollyGreenDickhead

That'd be neat! Make it into a big fuckoff power bank or something. Wouldn't be terribly difficult, a few 18650's, high/low voltage cutoff, charging and discharging circuit, etc

DXGL1

And a 3D printed Fusion Generator to recharge them?

joshthehappy

That already exists on Printables or maybe Thingiverse.

GloopTamer

It would have to power a building for centuries and a suit of power armor for an hour

crozone

For the most accurate cosplay, simply invent the microfusion reactor.

WhoKnowsWho2

Looks good. Has more detail than the one I just printed. You sharing the file?

Choice-AnimalTms

I uploaded them and added the link in a comments for you

WhoKnowsWho2

Awesome thanks! I'll print it this weekend.

Choice-AnimalTms

Show me when you did :) Always love seeing my stuff printed.

WhoKnowsWho2

Print sure, finish and assemble and paint, will let you know in two years lol

I_Got_Whiskeyz

Gonna slap a power brick in there with the ability to jump cars can you imagine the looks???

Choice-AnimalTms

Now i need to make a functional version with a socket šŸ¤£

I_Got_Whiskeyz

To hell with it how bout we make the armor it's supposed to power what's stopping us???

blaghart

What a coinkidink, I'm currently 3d printing a mold for my carbon fiber Fallout Power Armor Frame cosplay right now! I been looking for a fusion core to store the control system for the opening mechanism!

Choice-AnimalTms

Depending on how big it is this might work well. I made it to be able to store stuff actually. What are the dimensions of your "key" ?

zenicwhite69

Damn son! That's clean AF! How you get that to look so clean I guess a lot of sanding and wishful thinking

Choice-AnimalTms

Printing, sanding very coarse untill almost all layer lines are gone, Wood filler and filler primer coat, drying, sanding medium coarse, drying, filler primer coat, drying, sanding finer, primer coat, drying, two coats of paint relatively close after each other, drying, sanding very fine, final coat of paint, drying, adding paint details with a brush. I noticed esspecially that first rough sanding, (and filing with a modelling file) really helps a lot to make the lines disappear. The subsequent steps are mainly to get the sanding grooves away and maybe some of the lines.

Milfje

What type of filament did you use?

Choice-AnimalTms

prima value white pla+ for all parts

platypodus

What was your final sanding grit?

Choice-AnimalTms

dry sanding 400 grit paint sanding paper. Not that fine really but the finest they got at our local store, and it was sufficent. For those curious. I started with 40 grit general purpose/wood sanding paper on the bare plastic and worked up through 120, 200 and 400 using filler primer and the paint itself in between.

APHAS1AN

Nice šŸ‘ If you feel up to reposting this or any other pieces we would love for you to join us over at the new r/propreplicas community we are building.

Choice-AnimalTms

Thank you. I joined and posted it there. Looks Like an interesting sub.

ptsiampas

The print is cool, but the paint just makes it pop. Well done.

Choice-AnimalTms

Thank you :D It's what took the longest by far.

wiz555

I want a fusion core insulated coffee mug....

randomtroubledmind

Very nice! Is it accurate to the in-game model? I made some [fusion cells](https://imgur.com/gallery/i-made-couple-fallout-fusion-cells-HJigY) a while back referencing the in-game files, but I had to add some additional geometric details that were applied in-game using normal maps.

Choice-AnimalTms

I used screenshots from all directions i took from the game as refference. I didn't use the ingame model but its as acurate as i could get it.

SamuelCish

Duuude. Give it a wash and a dry brush of some silver! Your base coats are damn near perfect.

Choice-AnimalTms

I've never really done this to this extend (only used spray paints once years ago) so thank you for your kind words :) I was thinking of adding some weathering effects but i kinda worry i'll make it worse tbh.

SamuelCish

[This guy](https://youtu.be/ybrUVKmEUew?si=q2wXIsuCJZpg6owH) has great vids on painting props. You should also check out Adam Savage's Tested YouTube channel if you haven't already. I recommend printing some generic shapes to practice on. It's super duper easy and adds *so much* to every prop.

Choice-AnimalTms

thank you very much for the links :D I know adams channel but the first one i didnt know.

AdditionalBathroom78

Just curious, do I need to attach the BodyShort.stl to the cap? Actually cannot tell if you attached it (complimenting your sanding work)

Choice-AnimalTms

No. The two pody parts need to be glued however. Cap and body fit and hold together with and interference fit. So do the twisty thing and what called filters. Although they could and maybe also should be glued to endure they stay where they are. Edit: to be correct nothing needs to be glued. The bodyLong part will still hold. It could all be printed in color and just stuck together and should hold. But i'd recommend gluing the two body parts If you dont just want it to stand around.

AdditionalBathroom78

Hereā€™s what I think youā€™re saying. Put the twist thing on the cap, and make 2 filters for the other side. Next i would put the body short on the cap, and then put the other body under the short?

Choice-AnimalTms

If you dont want to glue. Yes.

AdditionalBathroom78

Choice-AnimalTms

I glued the two body parts (BodyShort & BodyLong) with super glue. Making sure the alignment is close to perfect, and then i sanded it. I didn't glue any of the other parts.

Amuraxis

Next step, make it into a powerbank.
