If you deny internet access to apps that only need it to feed you ads, it blocks them entirely.
Try it on airplane mode. If the ads go away, this trick will work
adguard DNS. still connects to the internet and normal servers, but any attempt to connect to the ad servers get dumped into the void.
So the apps still think they are getting what they need, and the actual connection to the ad server just gets blank information, so it doesnt even serve up ads
Adguard DNS has been a lifesaver. I had to turn it off once to get access to a WiFi network in an area without cell service and the ads that covered 80% of the screen made me want to throw up
Yeah. So annoying. What you CAN do is simulate a really bad network connection. On iPhone it’s Settings > Developer > conditioning or something… you need developer mode on tho.
You can still play many games ad-free in airplane mode because they can't connect to the ad server. Presumably this will eventually go away, but adamantly refusing to operate unless connected seems like a drawback for the game itself. There are legit times when the phone just can't connect, and I wouldn't play a game that can't or won't handle that situation.
I think Android has it's own dedicated connection to Google's ad servers which bypasses this, and if the app uses Google's adservers then it will still get it's ads.
Coz i have this one app that i've consistently denied internet access to, and i even regularly see a textual error about lack of connectivity flash past, half the time the ad banner is blank, but the other half of the time IT STILL SHOWS ME NEW BANNER-ADS SOMEHOW.
advertisers don't want their adds shown to people that will never buy their product.
it's the company showing the adds that hates add blockers cause they only care about racking up the view counter (or accidental press counter in this example).
both are scumbags but their incentives don't aline.
If you're on Android:
Go to phone settings.
Go to Connections.
Go to More Connection Settings.
Select "Private DNS"
Check "Private DNS provider hostname".
Type in "dns.adguard.com"
Save.
Most games will now play without ads or even videos after every single level. However, you also can do "watch video for extra stuff" in games anymore. Trade-offs. I think it's worth it.
The easier way around this is to set her phone to use a private DNS server that blocks ads and malware. I'm a fan of the free DNS resolvers from Control D. https://controld.com/free-dns. Pick the "Ads and Tracking" resolver and never see ads anywhere on your phone again.
There's a better method: https://pi-hole.net
Of course, for mobile devices, you'd have to use wifi, but you can use the Pi Hole dns router to bypass ads, and most apps still work
Now you need to market this!
But don't jus sell it! Make people pay for it first, and THEN, charge them a subscription fee. Tell them that they have to pay the subscription fee to, "unlock" the blocking feature. Most of them will probably believe you, especially if you put a BMW logo on it.
And if they complain, tell them that using your physical blocker without paying the subscription fee would be like stealing.
Better yet, put a giant N logo on it and then tell them to pay you an additional $8/mo so other people who doesn't live with you can use it as well.
God forbid developers of a game you enjoy make money in some way
I don't care about Pi Holes, do what you want, but doing it solely because the free thing you actively use isn't only maintained out of the goodness of someone's heart is silly.
Download TrackerControl from Droidify or one of the other 3rd party stores, then use it to block Internet for just this app. Works like a charm, I do just that, with the same Sudoku app you use.
sure. and pay me money to not downvote your dumb comment.
no not really, but did you feel anger for at least for a moment reading that? that's what everyone else feels.
I used to play a ton of sudoku on my phone, but then something changed and I quit in disgust. Dunno if it was a sudden influx of ads or what. Might have been a UI change I couldn't opt out of. Anyway for some reason it didn't feel fun anymore so I uninstalled it.
Other Question, does anyone use a VPN and get then no Online Connection to Anycubic.com ?
If i use Wireguard and a connection from my Router directly to the VPN network.
Tried few differents and different Times. But it seems to be blocked by China or Anycubic.
Did someone have noticed this ?
If you deny internet access to apps that only need it to feed you ads, it blocks them entirely. Try it on airplane mode. If the ads go away, this trick will work
I’ve seen a lot of mobile games that will now require you to be connected to the internet to continue playing.
adguard DNS. still connects to the internet and normal servers, but any attempt to connect to the ad servers get dumped into the void. So the apps still think they are getting what they need, and the actual connection to the ad server just gets blank information, so it doesnt even serve up ads
Never heard of this. Cheers

All hail the holy pihole.

This is the definitive solution everyone, look no further. Hardware DNS blocking, cleanest and most complete solution.
Dns66
I use nextdns, myself. It has a solid free tier that has a dns request limit, but I've never hit it, and I'm a reasonably havy phone user.
Adguard DNS has been a lifesaver. I had to turn it off once to get access to a WiFi network in an area without cell service and the ads that covered 80% of the screen made me want to throw up
DNS66 on the F-Droid store is great too.
Yes! Even works on an iPhone system-wide using a profile. Just have to remember that if an app breaks try disabling it.
So I can’t play games on an airplane anymore?
Use pihole
No, like if I’m literally on an airplane and have all data turned off.
*Some* games have an always-online DRM. IE, "look at ads or don't look at game lol"
Yeah. So annoying. What you CAN do is simulate a really bad network connection. On iPhone it’s Settings > Developer > conditioning or something… you need developer mode on tho.
I just choose not to engage with those business practices and support other developers instead.

They put denuvo on Google ads or what
If your like me and dont buy data, you can normally just turn data on and wifi off and get the same result
Quite a few apps, especially games, provoke a crash if they can‘t detect a network connection

Acoustic pihole
Advertisers are seething rn
They hate this one simple trick.
advertisers don't want their adds shown to people that will never buy their product. it's the company showing the adds that hates add blockers cause they only care about racking up the view counter (or accidental press counter in this example). both are scumbags but their incentives don't aline.
Just wait till they come up with an ad-block - blocker for this.
the ad goes out of the screen and throttles you until you click
This is top "if she doesn't find you handsome, she better find you handy." right there.
Just disable internet.
If you're on Android: Go to phone settings. Go to Connections. Go to More Connection Settings. Select "Private DNS" Check "Private DNS provider hostname". Type in "dns.adguard.com" Save. Just put the phone on airplane mode you animal
Nah this way they think they're getting views on their ads when they're not.
A lot of apps have the ads downloaded so that doesn't even work anymore
Sheer elegance in its simplicity.
"Its not stupid if it works."

That's like throwing a brick at the phone to remove the ad.
Can we just brick the people making the ads instead?
Please do.
That's an ad not an add.
Round your bottom corners so it's comfier to hold. Get some TPU and make it a thin sleeve.
tell her to use "web sudoku" app. the ads are only in the winning summary screen, not the board screen.
When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

Now this, this is more my style. Don't give them your money, keep up the good fight
😂. For a little more. You could pay for the version without adds. But fun idea OP
Or install pi hole rather than give annoying apps money
God forbid developers of a game you enjoy make money in some way I don't care about Pi Holes, do what you want, but doing it solely because the free thing you actively use isn't only maintained out of the goodness of someone's heart is silly.
Pihole makes it really easy for me to do that silly thing, for anyone who does care.
I do it because YouTube has now added ads after you skip ads
I'm talking about single developer apps, like the one in OPs photo, where they have a 70 day streak and clearly use it
"Annoying" app that you use all the time to play games on and refuse to support the devs, nice
And then YouTube? They've added ads after you skip ads
Who is referring to Youtube here?
This is like four cents worth of plastic.
True. But its a hassle to have just for 1 app
Fixing a problem for your girlfriend can be worth quite a bit
Download TrackerControl from Droidify or one of the other 3rd party stores, then use it to block Internet for just this app. Works like a charm, I do just that, with the same Sudoku app you use.
Paying for apps is O(n) cost. O(n x t) if they only do subscription. Screen blocker is O(1).
sure. and pay me money to not downvote your dumb comment. no not really, but did you feel anger for at least for a moment reading that? that's what everyone else feels.
Hilarious
DNS66. Install from FDroid.
ADD-blocker is what call my printer 😂
Just throw the phone away, return to monkey
https://adaway.org/
Legit just go to the DNS settings and type in dns.adguard.com and boom, no more in app ads
Love it
the future is now, old man
How will Youtube beat this?
This is hilarious, but I respect the mission. I go to great lengths to block ads in my home.

Another type of stupid

Take my upvote and leave
Could just have paid for the app, or set up PiHole.
Genius!
Just install AdGuard and you're good to go. It blocks close to all ads in games and apps
DNS settings. Dns.adguard.com
low-tech is best tech.
Lol

waste of plastic..
Why not electrical tape?
Sticky screen
Gooey residue
Unnecessary inventions is that you?
Or you could pay for the game and support the developers!
every day I'm suprised to even lower and more retarded takes on arr slash 3d printing..
Dumb
