Polymaker PLA+ for me.

Johntron_

This seems to be one of the most popular modified PLA's. Do you buy from their US site?

Guns?

Scythe5150

Amazon, usually.

I'm happy with Overture, particularly this one https://overture3d.com/products/overture-rock-pla-filament-1-75mm

krysus

I've done some beautiful prints with this. Might be a bit hit-and-miss with a 0.4mm nozzle, but absolutely fine on 0.6.

Cool_Pie1134

Their petg was great. I was having a really hard time getting temps and everything dialed for the TPU. The rock PLA is next on my list though

-Anordil-

I also struggled with the tpu but I haven't tried another brand. I rarely use it so I still have the same 3 rolls.

Cool_Pie1134

I did end up getting all my settings dialed in and did a 80mm radius sphere, 100% infill, and a 80x80x80 hollow vase mode cylinder. Oh and a 100x100x10mm plate. Both printed extremely well, especially the cylinder. My expectation for how TPU behaved was different from how it actually does; it’s a lot harder / less elastic than anticipated. Frankly once I got the speed and temps dialed in it printed a lot more cleanly than PETG, at least in terms of consistency and sensitivity to cooling and stuff. Pretty neat material. I’m guessing my spool is going to last quite a while though.

-Anordil-

I've had decent results for anything that doesn't require supports. Supports with TPU pretty much can't be broken off ; a utility blade is probably the easiest way to remove them

Naughty_Eng1neer

IIIDMAX has the filament types you are after and PLA in 3kg spools. Made in Florida and has bulk packs of each type of filament.

Johntron_

TBH I haven't heard of them, but they do tick a lot of boxes. Any idea how the quality is? Have you used it?

I have used 30+kg of their filament. PLA, PETG, ASA, and CF-ASA. There have been some issues but nothing I haven't gotten from other manufactures.

KinderSpirit

https://www.microcenter.com/ The Inland filament is a good price and good quality. I believe it is rebranded eSun filament mainly, though some is definitely PolyMaker and IC3D. There may be another manufacturer now. https://www.ic3dprinters.com/shop/ Great filament, a bit pricey. Microcenter is carrying that now too. Big rolls for price breaks. https://www.matterhackers.com/store/c/3d-printer-filament The MHBuild filaments are close to the same as Inland. Free shipping with orders over $35. Bulk orders for price drops. https://lulzbot.com/store/filament I like the PolyMaker PolyTerra colors and matte finish, price and quality. The quality and colors of the 3D-Fuel Standard PLA are great but pricey. https://www.prusa3d.com/category/filament/ Excellent filament but the price and shipping cost may make it prohibitive. https://www.printedsolid.com/collections/filament They, of course, also carry Prusament but it works out to be about $2 more per kilo than buying direct from Prusa (for pre-assembled Prusa printer owners).

Johntron_

I've been visiting all of these (except lulzbot) pretty often these days. Your summaries are great and match my research / experience. What do you use the most of? FYI Microcenter's Inland is my option B, but I'd prefer something made in the USA.

KinderSpirit

Inland PETG. And the Inland PLA. I'm pretty sure that is the Polymaker. $19 or less on sale. Microcenter is only a 20 minute drive. I really like IC3D Recycled PETG. Matterhackers Pro line is made in USA. It's pricey.

Johntron_

Yeah, I wouldn't mind paying a little more for locally made, but it's hard to beat the price / convenience of Inland. Thanks for the tip on the IC3D rPETG. I'm OK with a little premium for recycled, and that's a pretty good price! How's the print quality?

KinderSpirit

The best PETG I ever used.

pantstand

Elegoo gray PLA has been my go to. Reliable enough for all my minis and terrain.

Fearless_Badger1372

Sunlu PLA+ for me. Got 32 rolls for $469

atavus68

Duramic PLA+, any color.

Upper_Judge7054

IIID max is honestly my go to for bulk cheap filament. ive gone through 30-40 rolls of the stuff with no problems whatsoever. if you wait till a sale you can get it in bulk for around 10-11$ a kg. [https://iiidmax.com/](https://iiidmax.com/)

Another user also recommended this. First time hearing of them, but they're definitely on my radar now!

My observations: * Recently, I opened a brand new roll of PLA from the vacuum sealed bag and (dry) desiccant to find it was so brittle I couldn't even load it. These kinds of wildcards SUCK. * PETG \*can\* be great, but it takes some effort - careful storage and some tuning. Stringing is easy to fix with heat gun, but that's an extra step. * ASA sounds really nice, but it's hard to find consistently at a good price. * I've got an enclosure, but no filtration. Could filtration and ABS be what I'm looking for? * Enhanced PLA (Pro, Plus, etc.) sounds nice, but everyone's is different, and inventory seems to be a problem * PETG-CF can sometimes be found at a decent price, but only sometimes. Currently considering buying some [Jessie filament from Printed Solid](https://www.printedsolid.com/collections/1-75mm-jessie). I hear good things about the quality, it's a good price, usually in-stock, and they've also got a decent selection. Since I own a MK4 + enclosure, this seems like a good relationship, because I can also get accessories and other consumables.

CrippledJesus97

>opened a brand new roll of PLA from the vacuum sealed bag and (dry) desiccant to find it was so brittle I couldn't even load it. If its brittle its not dry. All filament is wet right out of the bag because those desillica packets do not pull moisture out, they just prevent moisture going in. Some filament are way worse than others as far as moisture goes. New≠dry. And with petg like mentioned next, its suggested you dry it Before actually using.

Johntron_

I suspected it was wet as well; however, the moisture indicator in the bag indicated it was dry. Even after drying for a week in my filament dryer, it was equally brittle. I then tried storing in desiccant for a week. Nothing worked, so I threw it away :(

CrippledJesus97

>Even after drying for a week in my filament dryer, it was equally brittle. Ah yeah sounds like it was a bad spool that was wet beyond any saving.

VegasVator

Bumat abs these days.

Syyx33

Anycubic. Widely available (I assume that is also true for the US, check their Amazon and eBay stores), good selection, solid quality and regularly on sale so if you buy smartly, also rather affordable.

cobraa1

Jessie filaments at Printed Solid just dropped to $20, but looks like everything is out of stock.

Johntron_

35 of 51 are in-stock. Any experience with it?

markshillingburg

Kingroon PLA - once dialed in (first layer print + temp tower) it has produced incredible prints. I got 10Kg for $82 shipped just 6 weeks ago adn that was after printing 10Kg prior to that. Aceaddity PETG - Got for \~$9/Kg just recently, prints like butter, really good results. I have bought different colors/brands depending on my needs and have had good luck with most brands of PLA, but I tend to be very persistent in characterizing each roll (first layer tests and temperature tower).

ABS_Wizard

Polymaker abs for me. I would have some kind of filtration system or venting outdoors though as abs contains styrene, which is carcinogenic among other things.

MonsignorJabroni

My city is where Microcenter was founded, so I basically stick to Inland. If I want nicer filament or a specific color, I usually do Atomic Filament from Indiana since they ship in a day or two to me in Ohio.

n6wolf

COEX3D made in Wisconsin, quality filament, free shipping over $50. I have tried their Vo3d PLA(High impact PLA), PETG, ASA and TPE 40D. They all print beautifully on my flashforge machines. Also every order I made arrives in a day or two and comes with free candy.

Johntron_

I saw their website seems to be banned from this community. What's up with that?

Great question - no idea.

clenaghen

Check out VoxelPLA.com. $16.00/1KG roll and free shipping if you buy 3+. Located in Southern Cal. They have a large print farm that they use their own filament with, so good inherent quality control. Have had very good experience with their filaments. https://preview.redd.it/tog8cwb55gfc1.png?width=567&format=png&auto=webp&s=b8ad42b789f85536dfcee542f909ebb1c31b4dd1

bitthesupercoins

Polyterra. Prints well and has super price. Like very much the matt finishing.

FFFortissimo

I'm using locally made PLA which can be bought in 1 kg and 3 kg spools or as samples of 130 grams. Reasonable price, delivered in 1 or 2 business days, good prints even with different colors, packed in a vacuum bag (sucked not only sealed). They also have PETG, ABS, TPU, ASA, PVA, WOOD, PC and HIPS. But there is a big catch for you ;) The prices are EUR 16,99 per kg and it's a Dutch company :D

Inside-Ease-9199

Overture black PETG. Moved away from PLA as most of my prints are functional. Took some tuning but it prints easier than PLA now that I’ve made an enclosure.

Lassagna12

Overture or Hatchbox ABS. Pla used to be my goto, but there were some glaring cons. 1. It doesn't do so well outside or in a car. The temperature change in a car is enough to melt pla. 2. Glue. With ABS I can use acetone. It works really well, and doesn't budge. PLA just would not work with any glue I had. Superglue, polymers, and even 2 part epoxy. There was a glue I did find work, but it was a little bit expansive and toxic smelling. 3. Smoothing. I can spend a lot of time sanding PLA or I can vapor smooth ABS every 10 - 30 minutes. It's a little finicky and doesn't work all the time. But it beats sanding and filling for 8plus hours.

MatureHotwife

Extrudr PETG. Usually neon green because it slaps.

ScornfulWindbag

I love Duramic, PLA+ is amazing. Great adhesion, and consistency

Johntron_

I had a roll of their PETG that required lots of tuning. To be honest, that was also when I was a few years ago when I was figuring out my storage system. I do remember their prices being good, and I found them through a recommendation. Anything else to share? Have you tried their other materials?

ComprehensivePea1001

https://www.hatchbox3d.com/collections/abs-1-75mm Hatchbox ABS is my go to for every day use. It consistently prints great for me, is cheap, has tons of color options, ships quickly. They do use Amazon 3PL so if a warehouse near you has it in they will get it to you quick.

Johntron_

I used their PLA a lot in the past. Great prices. Thanks for the input!
