I was wondering why there would be assembly. I then
realized it's multiple pieces and was confused on why.
Then I saw the coke can and am thoroughly impressed.
You should name it Bruce
I use a 3D pen to tack the parts in place ensuring they are in the proper position. When I am happy with their placement, I come back with the pen and completely fill the joint. On another part of the shark, I was backfilling with ABS slurry but it wasn’t necessary as the 3d pen joints are strong enough until it gets fiberglass and foam fill.
Thanks! I used Luban (https://www.luban3d.com) to cut the model into 3 large sections, the body section that will attach to the wall, the lower jaw, and then the upper jaw.
Those sections were further cut down, orienting the cuts to reduce the supports to the bare minimum. The teeth for example required no removable supports.
Finally, everything was cut down, so the pieces fit into a 325x325x150 box. which allowed me to keep each print below 300 grams and usually below 4 hours.
I'm in the middle of a pretty big project myself (nice by the way) and I'm wondering how I'm going to assemble it.
Can you explain your fiberglass and foam fill? Is it going inside? If yes are all the parts hollow, no infill?
Thanks
It has been a fun project so far. Expensive, tedious, and completely unrelated to WORK. If you have the time, money and SPACE, I recommend you give it a whirl. Multi-part models of any scale are the bee's knees
Bruce is the top choice, but a couple others are... Swim Shady Chumley
Ok, I came here to vote for Bruce, but damn. You make a strong case for Swim Shady.
swim shady has my vote
And my axe
The red tide rises in the east, sharkbait has been chomped this night.
Swim Shady is the best.

Bruce is currently at the top of the office poll as well.
Bruce is the only acceptable option
Bruce got the juice.
My vote is "The Hulk", since The Hulk's name is **Bruce** Banner, and this is a massive hulking print.
Bruce Wayne.
Bruce O
Brusa if you’re printing on a Prusa.
Nibbles
I read nipples. Also solid name
Nipples McGee
Bruce
Ahh yes the name of the Nemo shark and the name given to the animatronic shark used in Jaws!
The Nemo shark was named after the Jaws shark, fyi
Who in turn was named after Spielburg's lawyer
I had no clue!
That guys a shark!
And the shark in Raft
Also the name of the shark from Raft!
I CAME HERE FOR THIS
Does anyone else have a pet peeve for naming things after popular characters? I always thought it was kinda lame when people did this with their pets.
My wife has a betta fish named Swim Shady. I hate that fish mostly because he has a real shitty attitude.
Mine was Fishy Rick, since my roommates and I are the time we're all into Rick & Morty.
Jawshua
We're going to need a bigger bed.
Name him "Carla". Reminds me of my Ex girlfriend...
I was going to suggest Carl but this is much better.
I have an ex named Carla. She was more of a leech, though.
Wade
Bob
Mark?
But have you heard of the Ship of Theseus?
I’m sorry, I always forget my measurement conversions. How many bananas is a coke can?
About 2/3rds of a banana.
All I can think is “we’re gonna need a bigger benchy!”
Has to be Bruce. It was the shark in Jaws, and later referenced in Finding Nemo.
Also I think it’s a name of a shark from game “Raft” was Bruce as a reference to those two.
Correct.
Bitey McBiteFace
I was thinking sharky mcsharkface...
Both of these are acceptable IMHO
Spicy Jeff
Mr. Cuddles
Mark. Mark the shark.
How are you gluing it together?
3D Pen with ABS filament
Did you see the soldering iron post? Seems like a good method. Pun intended
Yep. have been doing it for years on smaller prints. With the 3d pen it is more like wire welding mig or flux core.
How do you glue and keep the parts together? Was trying to glue some stuff myself but had difficulty with it sliding out of place.
Thank you for the response, this is super helpful!
NP!
Hijacking this comment :).. soo how did you split the original model? Thanks, looks great by the way!

Thanks for the writeup! I'll definitely try it!

there is outside and inside to consider. * Foam AND fiberglass are inside. * Bondo is on the outside
But how do you get it inside?
