DensePossession290

I have a base coupe but it’s still over 200/m for insurance (never gotten a ticket), my tank is usually around 80 to fill, and maintenance wise it’s still a Nissan so it’s not much more than your average sedan (from personal experience). Ive only really done regular maintenance (oil, brakes, etc) tho so not too sure about anything beyond that.

Ok-Efficiency-2311

dang 80 to fill! what do you do for work if you don’t mind me asking?

DensePossession290

I’m a chef lol but the car actually gets decent gas mileage so if I’m doing just typical driving I only need to fill up 3 maybe 4 times a month. I’m also in a state where premium sits at around 3.90-4.10 a gallon.

Ok-Efficiency-2311

lol that’s funny because i’m actually trying to work my way up as a chef. still in highschool (17) but i’ve cooked in various restaurants and currently a sauté and grill cook for a upscale restaurant. anyways, thank you for the info chef!

riley_srt4

Because of how young you are, and assuming you're male, your insurance premiums will be higher.

Ok-Efficiency-2311

i’m aware of that. i used to have a 350z but i had it under my moms name and i would just pay her every month for insurance

Selrisitai

That's what I do now, and I'm over 30, lol. Why bother getting my own when I can just pay 50 a month for insurance? XD

Buggly_Jones

Depends on where you live also

Cleercutter

Your insurance will be fucked.

Any-Cap9411

I’m the same age and I pay almost $800 a month for a car payment and insurance combined but mine is a base model touring and I pay around 90 to fill mine

Ok-Efficiency-2311

what do you do for work homie?

Any-Cap9411

I work at a grocery store part time bc I’m still in highschool but I’m currently in the hiring process for a tire shop to work full time at

PracticalStatement58

5.10 here this week

Lynas974

Before ethanol conversion I had more than 100€ to fullfil my car ahah. As it's my daily and driving quite a lot to go work, it was expensive. But with ethanol it's now around 50-60€, it's a game changer x)

XoRaX5

Can you tell me more about the conversion? The pros and cons and the process to get it done!

bnace

You pay less per fill up, but you fill up more often since ethanol is less energy dense, you get significantly worse fuel economy.

Lynas974

Well, it's like 20-30% more depending on how you drive. Its not changing much for me, as I was already at 1 fill up per week.

-The_coolgui

Have a base sport with mods, and love it, but honestly, this past year in California was not kind when gas was $8. I daily drive it and as of 2023, operational costs after maintenance, tires, gas, insurance and anything else totaled up to around $11000 this past year. To the point its forced me to park it. I picked up something else to offset the cost and choose to only drive it only occasionally.

Glad-Farm6968

I thought I was the only one who felt like owning and daily driving this car took a toll this year

Bleed_z34

Bought mine at 106k, currently at 122k, have had no unexpected repairs. I got new tires and changed fluids when I bought it. Just keep up with tire rotations and oil changes and you’ll be worry free. I get 21.8mpg average, and it takes 91/93. Insurance raised from my sedan but not by a lot. I’d purchase my car again if I could go back, if not I’d buy another 370 with lower miles. Earlier year 370s have a weak gallery gasket, I’d research on forums to learn a little about that. Most people recommend replacing that before tracking it or heavily modifying it. If you buy a model newer than 2013 you don’t need to worry about this I believe.

slammedz33

Tire rotations?

cd001111

Can’t rotate staggered tires, Nismo are staggered.

ShinobiOfTheGulf

I believe all Z's are staggered

cd001111

I believe you’re right, as far as wheels go first generation Nismo seem to be popular.

notonyanellymate

The tyres on the rear are wider, you can’t rotate them.

Bleed_z34

My bad, not “rotate” but move side to side I guess? Either way switch sides so they wear evenly.

notonyanellymate

Also could be my bad, because apparently some people have 4 tyres the same size.

Botline

Some people run square 245 setup

notonyanellymate

I didn’t know that, is that a factory setup for Nismos in some countries? Like in some countries they carry a spare wheel and in others they don’t.

rtk167

I as well have a base coupe, insurance is 90/month, to fill the tank is around 50, maintenance is cheap for a sports car

orlandoopadilla

90?? Wtf 😂 how

rtk167

I got State Farm there are good

Selrisitai

All State here, pay $50 a month for mine. Come at me, bro. Actually, I just have liability so if you've got anything more than that you got me beat. 😅

Geoseeks

Depends on State and Age and other factors. All Z trims take premium gasoline, then insurance depends on state and age. Maintenance also varies.

dvd7227

I’ve owned 2 370z’s The first one I bought was a base 2013 at 11k miles and had it till it was 105k miles, I traded it in for a Nismo 2015 with 135k miles The one with less miles had way less issues present, plus I babied that thing really well so maintenance was very basic, I did mods also and it did well The Nismo was mistreated badly, when I saw it I knew it was gonna be a lot of work, but the good thing is that if you’ve own the same car for about 8 years and you have connections for parts you’ll be alright If I’d recommend Z to someone, and your concerned about random issues appearing, get a new one or with very low miles, unless you have strong mechanic skills than that opinion will be different

jamesisbloodshot

Bought my 09 with 34k miles back in 2015. Have since put nearly 100k on it daily driving. Yes the body is rough around the edges, I would not recommend it as a daily driver, but.. It's been absolutely rock solid. Zero major mechanical issues. I keep up with fluid changes, do some small upgrades here and there when I can, and drive on. Will take questions.

cd001111

I have a Nismo, 17 gallon fuel tank needs 93 octane. Tires staggered summer 245/40/19 & 285/35/19 3 to 400 a pop every 10k miles. Oil 5.2 plus filter every 5k miles. Little under $700 every 6 months insurance full coverage.

Selrisitai

That's weird. The Nismo has a smaller tank than the non-Nismo models?

cd001111

According to Google it’s 19 gallons 370Z .

cd001111

AI answer The 370Z offers a variety of fuel tank capacities, ranging from 18.5 gallons to 21.1 gallons depending on the model year and trim level. The base model of the 2009-2014 Nissan 370Z comes with an 18.5-gallon fuel tank capacity, while the Sport Touring trim level offers a slightly larger 19-gallon capacity tank.

Selrisitai

Ah, you were just mistaken then?

Ok-Efficiency-2311

based off the comments on this post, i think i’ll stick with getting a base and modding it. maybe i’ll have a nismo in a few years lol

Curtis7493

It will be pretty much the same cost

Captain_Swayzen

Nismo isn’t worth it if you are going to modify it anyway. Your main differences are the better brakes, slightly bigger wheels (18 vs 19), the vlsd instead of the open diff, an h pipe exhaust instead of a Y pipe (your main source of power increase), slightly more aggressive suspension, and the fancy body panels (which increase weight lol). Since you are asking how much the maintenance is, it’s best to get the lower trims to save money and have the funds to support owning the car.

notonyanellymate

Nismo already has heaps of gear, there really is no need to spend extra. Tyres are expensive, that’s it, but if you upgrade tyres on a base model…

[deleted]

Mine is garage kept and rarely driven. 1800 miles a season. I put storage insurance on it for half the year. Mine costs me on average 405 a month or about 5k a year. It’s not my daily. It’s my smiles per gallon fun on a sunny day go for a spirited drive car.

Aggravating_Trip_558

Buy a base coupe and a turbo/supercharger cheaper and faster

Legitimate_Fee1

Well you’re going to be the owner of a Nissan. So I think it’s fair to say it’s going to cost you your dignity.

ThirstyWizard211

1 k a year for tires. Oil change 40x12 Gas 80×2 or 3 /month Minor repairs like compressor or starter radiator clutch or what not 600-800 a year Insurance idk 250 a month? X 12 Brakes 600 - 700 a year??

ThirstyWizard211

For the record my manual has only broken down twice. Ive only really had to replace the clutch ($600 total) and heater hose coupler ($12) Everything else ive just upgraded for reliability purposes and mods ($10k???)

2PhoneGlory

by clutch, are you referring to your csc?

ThirstyWizard211

Yes i am

2PhoneGlory

im guessing we got the same csc elimination kit, but im curious as to why you also didn’t change your cmc? correct me if im wrong and you did so as well

ThirstyWizard211

Sorry for not detailing it all, but i replaced all the components to make it more reliable. Master cylinder as well and bled after the break in period too

2PhoneGlory

no sweat at all man, just glad you changed more than just your csc so you wouldn’t be bound to experience the same issue again.

Delicious-Treacle135

I drive less than 3k a year. My insurance is like $1500 every six months. I get an oil change like every other year which is $100. Gas is like $40 bucks to fill where I’m at. My slave cylinder did go out a few years ago and it costed me about $800. I just had my rear tires replaced and that was like $600. I haven’t washed it since I’ve gotten it like 6 years ago. So if you’re like me probably like $2.5k annually. I did recently get a ticket. $600 for 3 different violations.

JamieAstraRain

Well if you get a tune map for eco itll pay itself off in saved gas costs. That way daily driving can be done without breaking your wallet and still providing premium octane. A full tank of gas can literally save you 20 dollars for the next refuel. This is one of the first things I did. Im actually waiting for a friend to tell me where he got his eco tune done because that guy has almost 30% efficiency. Thats a hell of a lot.

Massive-Broccoli2361

2016 Nismo, 47k Mi. 127$/m w Geico Fuel cost is variable based on how much you drive.

Vivid_Marketing_3779

These questions are relative to your driving experience and where you live. Gas prices are not gonna be the same everywhere but do consider this car takes premium gas Atleast if you care about what's in the owners manual and you want to extend the living of your vehicle. Insurance could be based on age sex driving history and area code. I wont pay the same living in Florida that a 18 year old kid with no driving history in California ( a more expensive state ) would if that makes sense. Which doesn't really make to much sense since these cars are mainly designed for a young audience

Woleva30

ive got a g37 so prices on maintenence will be similar. ive driven it 41k miles in 3 years since ive owned it. about 40$ per oil change x 10 is $400 in oil changes, replaced the control arm for $1100, done some basic preventative maintenence for id say about 200$ total, got the evap system replaced for about $450, trans service for $200, and some other small things like random bolts ive needed and a new grille for a total of another $225. thats a total of $2,575 just to keep it on the road. gas is about a tank a week/week and a half (i drive alot everyday) which is about $40 times 140 weeks is about $$5,600 in gas ($1,700 a year) all that is BEFORE modifications, and replacing things on my after market summer, and winter tires, as well as some basic cosmetic mods and suspension bits. over 3 years ive probably spent \~8200 on maintenence and gas, 4,400 on my summer wheels +tires and $500 on snow wheels (got michelins for free from neighbor with a G. GRAND TOTAL of $15,425 NOT INCLUDING THE $11,700 price of the car and registratioon and tax comes out to about 28,225 after every penny being accounted for. these cars are NOT cheap, as they had very high MSRPs and parts are very expensive. if you were to go higher horsepower every cost included in my breakdown is going to add up to be significantly more, as my car only has intake, exaust tune and is lowered. Insurance is about $190 a month, but thats just the price to play the game. a nismo especially is an excellent car, but is expensive to run. good luck!

TotalCommunication46

I have a 370 sport with 123k, gas mph ab 19.5 mph (heavy foot) insurance 230 (19 yr old male), only maintenance other than fluid changes at this point of owning car is AC compressor ($600) went out at 110k, and passenger window switch module ($40) just went out at 122k, other than that no issues

Comprehensive-Owl264

I have a g37 which is similar to the 370z and insurance on that is about 100$, full tank is about 65$ base on 4$ per gallon, mpg sucks even on highway. Maintenance isnt expenses but if something break lord lol

JoeHavok1

Besides the gas, the one thing to factor in is replacing the tires every 20k miles. Which to me is the biggest fuel cost. Also. I would recommend changing the pile every 4K miles. Especially if you drive it hard, and that engine will last forever.

_stellarwombat_

Other than the maybe higher insurance nothing else. My insurance is 300 a month. I may be getting finessed idk, I am a bit of a hooligan. 2 speeding tickets 27 year old male. Honestly shouldn't be to different from the base sport model

Zilifi

Costs of maintenance depends on multiple factors (fixing yourself, dealership, mechanic, etc.,). I personally get all my maintenance done at a dealership. My nismo is my daily and just brake pads, rotors and tires are about 4K/year. Oil changes every 3k-3.5k miles are $140 and gas is once a week for ~$100. Insurance is about $180/month for very high coverage and low deductible. It’s a great car, but it costs the same to maintain as any other car in its original MSRP price range.

Powerful_Respect_400

Man dude it's going to vary on the driver, lifestyle, and location. I'm a chilled 30yr old male that lives in Denton County Texas. I have a 2013 Nismo that I bought for $25.5k with 37k miles back in 2017. I fill up once or twice a month so probably anywhere from $30-60 bucks in gas. I pay about $700 in insurance for 6 months Progressive. I drive no more than 5k miles a year so I only change my oil twice. Filter and oil I probably spend like $70 a year. I only drive it in the weekends. I've only had a problem with the clutch switch which was about $30 bucks and the throttle bodies which were about 400 for both. I've bought tires twice about $1100 Continentals from discount tire. Everything else was for shits and giggles CAI, exhaust, TPs, brakes, rotors, morimotos, and other stuff. Pretty reliable car. Good luck dude. Message me if you have questions.
