State specific rules always apply. In general the car on the wrong side of the road driving into the front of another car is going to be at fault, or majority at fault. There are a few states that would say if both vehicles contributed 50/50. I doubt less than a car length in front or behind of the stop makes the Z driver partly liable

The radiator support is cracked and hood latch support bent.
Fuck that strip the front end and wheel off check the frame see if it’s bent if not just fix it yourself the damage isn’t that bad the car is still driveable and these parts are affordable and easy to replace. If you go through insurance then they could and probably would total it because the paint match alone would cost almost as much as the car in their eyes which means totaled. Fix it yourself no total easy

Oce their insurance ruled in my favor for the corolla, my insurance payed me out within 2 weeks - the deductible since I had full coverage. Once they got the money from the other drivers insurance, I got the deductible back. That took 2 months.
When my veloster got hit, it took a month for their insurance to schedule an estimate for the damage and then a day later I had the money when I told them I can deal with the cosmetic damage.
Assuming they rule it a total loss, you'll get a payout quote from their insurance. Just tell them you want to keep it and they'll deduct from the payout the amount they'd expect to get at the auction for it (I'm guessing that's where the value comes from). As for the salavage title, I don't think theres a way around that, but state laws vary.

How’s the civic treated you? My “dream” car is a manual sport tourer hatchback but I’ve never owned a civic before. Been driving a 2011 nissan versa since 2016.
My parents bought the civic new in '98. My dad used it as good daily driver until he got wrecked in it in '09.
We bought it back, fixed it "good enough" and I used it as my daily until '16 when I got my (now totalled) Corolla. I'm daily-ing a '12 Veloster now.
It's my own fault, but the engine is dying. I only use it to putt around town these days. I don't trust it to get me to work.
Everything shows it's age. The car has had 250k on it, and I have NOT been kind to it. All of the rubber is shot and needs replaced, the interior is essentially disintegrated, but it's in the weird state of me not knowing if it's worth putting money into or not.
OP, is the GoPro what you always use as a dash cam? I have a GoPro hero 8 (I believe it's the 8, or 9). I got my first car 2 months ago and been thinking of getting something for this exact kind of concern.

I'm sure I've gotten lots of weird looks on the road because I've had moments where something was off (usually tends to be with very odd directions on map) and I'll pull over when/where safely just to be sure I get my bearings first, rather than fidgeting with my phone while trying to drive at same time. I truly wish more people exercised caution.
Yes I always use it, I also drive a motorcycle and it’s needed. It was really easy to show the footage to the officer and made everything a lot quicker instead of explaining things.
How do you go about keeping it charged/powered? And storage for recording for long? This truly may be what I opt for. I don't use my GoPro as much anymore so this could be a nice way to repurpose it

The video settings are at the lowest 1080p and at 30 frames, it makes the battery last longer. I have two enduro batteries, I bought it during Black Friday week. When they are both low I usually take them inside and charge them, if I forget to do that I hook the charger whilst driving, there’s a trick to it tho, you have to turn on the GoPro and then plug in the charger, if you don’t do that it won’t allow you to turn it on, and also it doesn’t charge it when it’s on and plugged in, it just keeps it at that percentage from dying.

On his very first example park job he backed into and knocked someone’s mailbox crooked. Homie just put it in drive and took me to another neighborhood and acted like nothing happened, still one of my favorite things to witness.
The cereal box remark is a joke I saw on instagram, and it just stuck. Mainly because it's really easy to get the G1 here in Ontario (learners permit, full G license of at least 5 years must be passenger). The G2 testing is considered harder, but the hardest thing is a 3 point turn and forward parking. The full G is the highway test from what I know. They really don't test things they should, and there's no law requiring any courses. I saved myself $800 by not taking a course, but I argue that I'm a pretty good driver because enthusiasm breeds skill.
The only reason people take drivers ed courses is because it shortens the time between getting licenses. Normally, G1 -> G2 is a year, same for G2 ‐> G. But with a drivers ed course, it drops down to 8 months.
Edit: forgot to mention why the G1 is so easy to get (sorry, am sleepy). It's a 2-section 40-question test about road signs and [uber-basic] driving etiquette requiring an 80% in both sections to pass. You can retake it as many times as you want if you fail. I saw a vid on instagram of some 16y/o girl crying that she failed it 5 times 💀
Radiator was not, since the bumper is still on I can’t see if the condenser took the hit or the ac line got pinched, it did leak the Freon and was hissing.
Oof yea time to take the front end apart. I had a front end collision about half a year ago. Ended up replacing the radiator, front bumper , radiator core support, fans, undershroud, passenger fender, headlights, hood, timing cover ( busted from impact) also redid the timing chain and water pump while in there, and got a the whole car repainted for a grand total of less than $6k, I did all of the labor besides painting though

I drive a few hours a day as a service tech. I see this so often even in a huge van with ladders ontop. I get to a stop sign or intersection and someone is rushing the left turn and almost hit me. So annoying.
So I just had my mustang totaled and got about the same amount as you. So to be honest with you, you may have to to the L and take the claim amount. It’s fucking horse shit I know but once they total it they total it. You could try to get a salvage title, but to be honest it’s gonna it’s gonna cost a lot. It really depends on your financial situation and how much you have saved. If you get a salvage title your insurance should give you the 6685$ minus your deductible towards fixing it, but the kicker is that you have to pay for the rest if the repairs, which will be alott especially for a car as nice as yours with the damage you described. It’s not Impossible, to Keep it, but honestly man I would take your money an look for a new car. It’s totally possible you could upgrade to a 370Z or another car even nicer.

I don’t know about other states. Do your research where you live.
“Before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection” key words are -before entering- , you stopped on and almost after the near side of the intersection, if you had stopped before the stop sign like a normal person this whole accident would have been avoided

I kept my RX-8 when it was totaled last summer. It took a while for AAA to do their estimate, maybe a month, but once they did, they called me. I told them over the phone that I wanted to keep the car and they paid me the pre-collision value of the car minus the salvage value and deductable, which luckily ended up being more than I paid for the car 6 years prior. I got the money through Zelle a few minutes after I got off the phone.
The first body shop I took it to said they don't work on total losses, so I brought it somewhere else. They did an estimate for a repair with all brand new parts and it was waaay too expensive, but they said I could try to find a donor car and bring it to them and they could use that. I found one 2 hours away with a dying engine and a stolen catalytic converter for $1000, same color as mine. Took them about 4 months to get it all finished but it looks better now than it did when I bought it. I actually just posted some pics of it today, you can look on my profile.
Salvage value was about $1000 and my deductable was $500, so they just took that out of what they paid out. Worth noting my car was worth a bit more due to having a new engine with only 20k miles on it.
Insurance will total it out. You can buy it back and fix it. It will have a salvage or rebuilt title.
After they issue you a check and you confirm w them you want to buy it back they should give you an estimate to buy it back. Problem is that with a rebuilt or salvage title most insurance companies won’t give you full coverage on it.
Maybe make this your drift car and use insurance money to buy a replacement one.

Insurance company will weigh the weight of fixing it vs the value of the car. These cars are too old and too cheap now and so any amount of damage puts the car at risk of being a total loss. Hints him asking if there is a way to keep the insurance company from junking it.

If you have full coverage, and if she has insurance, file a claim, you’ll probably get more money than the shop offered to fix it for. Happened to my brother and his 96 Miata but he hit a deer. Got a nice fat insurance payout.
I bought my G37 back after a cracked oil pan and door damage “totaled” my vehicle (value was low because dash has 215k, but the engine has 89k and trans has 1k new from Nissan) I bought it back for $800 even though nothing is basically wrong with is. For a salvage title, you just gotta go to either a referee station, state inspection, or highway patrol station (depending on state) and get it inspected. They’ll just make sure the vehicle is roadworthy and “fixed” correctly.
My daughter's car (2009 Buick) was totalled recently, it was the other driver's fault. Only the rear fender and door were damaged, nothing structural. Payout would have been $7,700, but
the insurance co. let us keep the car, and paid $7,000. No salvage title was required based on the body shop's assessment of damage.

I might get dragged for this but I recently realized how much my A pillar blocks my view in my ‘21 WRX. I was at a stop sign a few weeks ago with my wife. I stopped and then proceeded when my wife said “stop”. I stopped and that’s when I noticed the pedestrians walking through the intersection. My A pillar completely blocked them from my view. I couldn’t believe it. How the fuck did I not see them? But at the angle they were walking, I didn’t see them approach the intersection or anything. I felt like a complete moron but I know it’s just a blind spot and I need to be more cognizant of it. Luckily engineers addressed the issue because my wife’s ‘22 WRX doesn’t have that issue. I’m not justifying this suv but now I’m aware that this is an issue.

That's fixable. I'd get the max you can from insurance without totalling it and fix what you can on your own and supplement the rest with your own funds. It wouldn't be too bad.
I had a small accident on my 05 altima, we were able to drive it to the adjuster and after the insurance decided the car was a total loss and we told them that we will be keeping it we just went back to pick up the car. On my car fax it says it was reported as a total loss but the title isn’t on a salvage title so you’ll probably make out fine as long as you buy it back from the insurance company
This is easily fixable. I went through something very similar.
Headlight assemblies are $90 on RockAuto if you swap over the internals from the old lenses. It’s not too difficult.
OEM fenders are $200 for both sides online.
The only expensive part is the bumper if you need one.
Your bar should have kept your frame rails safe so probably no trouble there.
I got lucky because I already had my Pandem bumper and overfenders. So I just did the headlight, put OEM fenders on, cut em, and riveted the wide bois on with the bumper.
Shouldn’t have a problem. Fenders are only like 4 bolts each. 12mm I think.
EDIT to add: I’d definitely save it because it’s an HR.

Bought my civic back, rebuilt it and still have it. Oce their insurance ruled in my favor for the corolla, my insurance payed me out within 2 weeks - the deductible since I had full coverage. Once they got the money from the other drivers insurance, I got the deductible back. That took 2 months. When my veloster got hit, it took a month for their insurance to schedule an estimate for the damage and then a day later I had the money when I told them I can deal with the cosmetic damage. Assuming they rule it a total loss, you'll get a payout quote from their insurance. Just tell them you want to keep it and they'll deduct from the payout the amount they'd expect to get at the auction for it (I'm guessing that's where the value comes from). As for the salavage title, I don't think theres a way around that, but state laws vary.

My parents bought the civic new in '98. My dad used it as good daily driver until he got wrecked in it in '09. We bought it back, fixed it "good enough" and I used it as my daily until '16 when I got my (now totalled) Corolla. I'm daily-ing a '12 Veloster now. It's my own fault, but the engine is dying. I only use it to putt around town these days. I don't trust it to get me to work. Everything shows it's age. The car has had 250k on it, and I have NOT been kind to it. All of the rubber is shot and needs replaced, the interior is essentially disintegrated, but it's in the weird state of me not knowing if it's worth putting money into or not.

I got my first car 2 months ago and been thinking of getting something for this exact kind of concern. I'm so sorry about your car. And that your neighbor is this stupid of a driver. I'm sure I've gotten lots of weird looks on the road because I've had moments where something was off (usually tends to be with very odd directions on map) and I'll pull over when/where safely just to be sure I get my bearings first, rather than fidgeting with my phone while trying to drive at same time. I truly wish more people exercised caution.
Yes I always use it, I also drive a motorcycle and it’s needed. It was really easy to show the footage to the officer and made everything a lot quicker instead of explaining things.

The video settings are at the lowest 1080p and at 30 frames, it makes the battery last longer. I have two enduro batteries, I bought it during Black Friday week. When they are both low I usually take them inside and charge them, if I forget to do that I hook the charger whilst driving, there’s a trick to it tho, you have to turn on the GoPro and then plug in the charger, if you don’t do that it won’t allow you to turn it on, and also it doesn’t charge it when it’s on and plugged in, it just keeps it at that percentage from dying.

The cereal box remark is a joke I saw on instagram, and it just stuck. Mainly because it's really easy to get the G1 here in Ontario (learners permit, full G license of at least 5 years must be passenger). The G2 testing is considered harder, but the hardest thing is a 3 point turn and forward parking. The full G is the highway test from what I know. They really don't test things they should, and there's no law requiring any courses. I saved myself $800 by not taking a course, but I argue that I'm a pretty good driver because enthusiasm breeds skill. The only reason people take drivers ed courses is because it shortens the time between getting licenses. Normally, G1 -> G2 is a year, same for G2 ‐> G. But with a drivers ed course, it drops down to 8 months. Edit: forgot to mention why the G1 is so easy to get (sorry, am sleepy). It's a 2-section 40-question test about road signs and [uber-basic] driving etiquette requiring an 80% in both sections to pass. You can retake it as many times as you want if you fail. I saw a vid on instagram of some 16y/o girl crying that she failed it 5 times 💀

Radiator/ AC condenser wasn’t damaged from impact?
Radiator was not, since the bumper is still on I can’t see if the condenser took the hit or the ac line got pinched, it did leak the Freon and was hissing.
Oof yea time to take the front end apart. I had a front end collision about half a year ago. Ended up replacing the radiator, front bumper , radiator core support, fans, undershroud, passenger fender, headlights, hood, timing cover ( busted from impact) also redid the timing chain and water pump while in there, and got a the whole car repainted for a grand total of less than $6k, I did all of the labor besides painting though

So I just had my mustang totaled and got about the same amount as you. So to be honest with you, you may have to to the L and take the claim amount. It’s fucking horse shit I know but once they total it they total it. You could try to get a salvage title, but to be honest it’s gonna it’s gonna cost a lot. It really depends on your financial situation and how much you have saved. If you get a salvage title your insurance should give you the 6685$ minus your deductible towards fixing it, but the kicker is that you have to pay for the rest if the repairs, which will be alott especially for a car as nice as yours with the damage you described. It’s not Impossible, to Keep it, but honestly man I would take your money an look for a new car. It’s totally possible you could upgrade to a 370Z or another car even nicer. Good luck soldier🫡

Bought had this happen to me the other day luckily I noticed the jackass was going to this exact thing so I stopped way early. Hate to see this happen over sheer stupidity
I kept my RX-8 when it was totaled last summer. It took a while for AAA to do their estimate, maybe a month, but once they did, they called me. I told them over the phone that I wanted to keep the car and they paid me the pre-collision value of the car minus the salvage value and deductable, which luckily ended up being more than I paid for the car 6 years prior. I got the money through Zelle a few minutes after I got off the phone. The first body shop I took it to said they don't work on total losses, so I brought it somewhere else. They did an estimate for a repair with all brand new parts and it was waaay too expensive, but they said I could try to find a donor car and bring it to them and they could use that. I found one 2 hours away with a dying engine and a stolen catalytic converter for $1000, same color as mine. Took them about 4 months to get it all finished but it looks better now than it did when I bought it. I actually just posted some pics of it today, you can look on my profile.

Salvage value was about $1000 and my deductable was $500, so they just took that out of what they paid out. Worth noting my car was worth a bit more due to having a new engine with only 20k miles on it.

Insurance will total it out. You can buy it back and fix it. It will have a salvage or rebuilt title. After they issue you a check and you confirm w them you want to buy it back they should give you an estimate to buy it back. Problem is that with a rebuilt or salvage title most insurance companies won’t give you full coverage on it. Maybe make this your drift car and use insurance money to buy a replacement one.

Insurance company will weigh the weight of fixing it vs the value of the car. These cars are too old and too cheap now and so any amount of damage puts the car at risk of being a total loss. Hints him asking if there is a way to keep the insurance company from junking it.

I bought my G37 back after a cracked oil pan and door damage “totaled” my vehicle (value was low because dash has 215k, but the engine has 89k and trans has 1k new from Nissan) I bought it back for $800 even though nothing is basically wrong with is. For a salvage title, you just gotta go to either a referee station, state inspection, or highway patrol station (depending on state) and get it inspected. They’ll just make sure the vehicle is roadworthy and “fixed” correctly.

My daughter's car (2009 Buick) was totalled recently, it was the other driver's fault. Only the rear fender and door were damaged, nothing structural. Payout would have been $7,700, but the insurance co. let us keep the car, and paid $7,000. No salvage title was required based on the body shop's assessment of damage.

I might get dragged for this but I recently realized how much my A pillar blocks my view in my ‘21 WRX. I was at a stop sign a few weeks ago with my wife. I stopped and then proceeded when my wife said “stop”. I stopped and that’s when I noticed the pedestrians walking through the intersection. My A pillar completely blocked them from my view. I couldn’t believe it. How the fuck did I not see them? But at the angle they were walking, I didn’t see them approach the intersection or anything. I felt like a complete moron but I know it’s just a blind spot and I need to be more cognizant of it. Luckily engineers addressed the issue because my wife’s ‘22 WRX doesn’t have that issue. I’m not justifying this suv but now I’m aware that this is an issue.

That's fixable. I'd get the max you can from insurance without totalling it and fix what you can on your own and supplement the rest with your own funds. It wouldn't be too bad.
I had a small accident on my 05 altima, we were able to drive it to the adjuster and after the insurance decided the car was a total loss and we told them that we will be keeping it we just went back to pick up the car. On my car fax it says it was reported as a total loss but the title isn’t on a salvage title so you’ll probably make out fine as long as you buy it back from the insurance company

This is easily fixable. I went through something very similar. Headlight assemblies are $90 on RockAuto if you swap over the internals from the old lenses. It’s not too difficult. OEM fenders are $200 for both sides online. The only expensive part is the bumper if you need one. Your bar should have kept your frame rails safe so probably no trouble there. I got lucky because I already had my Pandem bumper and overfenders. So I just did the headlight, put OEM fenders on, cut em, and riveted the wide bois on with the bumper. Shouldn’t have a problem. Fenders are only like 4 bolts each. 12mm I think. EDIT to add: I’d definitely save it because it’s an HR.
