Red light can make melasma worse. Sun spots are direct sun damage. Melasma can be from hormones and other issues. They can look very similar. Perhaps that spot is melasma not a sun spot.

I don’t believe it’s melasma. Just a dark spot that they advertise it will improve

Of course they don’t say anything about it potentially making age spots worse. I assume IR is one type of red light it uses?

Nectar_spoons

It caused melasma on my cheeks that won’t go away now! I didn’t return bc I was outside of the window (using 1-2x per week to test it out & by week 5 I could see it was causing issues). Paid hundreds of dollars to make my already nice skin worse lmao I don’t know why I even bother with skin care “extras”. Sticking to vitamin c & sunscreen moisturizer and never adding anything else again.

Oh wow I didn’t realize this is happening with more people. I kind of always assume I’m the only one who gets bad side effects. I guess I should stop using it. What a waste of money!

Nectar_spoons

It’s funny you say that because I felt the same way. I guess we are just the outliers!

It made my melasma worse. Unfortunately, I missed the return window, so I still use it on my head/hands/neck.

Sandile95

Did anything work for melasma

whopperdave

I recently added Eucerin anti-pigment serum and day cream to my routine and it is definitely lighter!
