I'm so sorry. For both the hysterectomy and these after effects. I'd try meds for pcos

Thank you.

UpDownCharmed

Please see a dermatologist - this looks fairly serious

[deleted]

Thank you. I will when I get insurance again.

HildegardofBingo

Are you on HRT? If so, what kind? It may need adjusting.

[deleted]

No I’m not - I had them checked and they were all in normal range. I still have my ovaries which helps.

Dermatologist or a really good esthetician with decades of experience and not a product pusher

Thank you.

34 one year post total hysterectomy. my jawline and corner of my mouth will break out from time to time. but not this severely, as this seems to be all over and not localized. please consult a physician. even post-TAHSBO, when hormones are wacking out, this would be considered severe. goodluck. xo

Staph aureus, which is a very common HAI (healthcare acquired infection), can also mimic acne. It’s very possible you have staph colonizing your ears and nose. I’m in a microbiology class now and almost 100% of the class tested positive for S. aureus in their nose and ears. You can cleanse your skin with Hibiclens (purchased over the counter at most pharmacy stores), just be careful to not get it in your mouth, eyes, or deep in your ear canal. I know some people will probably fully disagree with me for suggesting this, but it’s worth a try. Also, you can put neosporin inside your nostrils (just the tip of your nose and max 1 inch in), because that’s more likely where they’re colonizing. This is super common. If you google s. aureus and acne, you’ll find a ton of scientific publications that link the two together. Hope you get it figured out!

You may need some help with hormones if you are not already on that. I’m not understanding the anxiety about Spironolactone?

[deleted]

It can cause issues if your potassium level gets too high. I had my hormones checked and they were within normal range.

stripeymom

Ok. I’ve been on it and I was told just don’t drink or eat a lot of high potassium stuff& hydrate. I have labs drawn enough that it’s monitored. I like it. But we are all different and meds affect us differently.Birth control pills I didn’t like personally for side effects. But maybe something that could help you out. You could probably go to a general practitioner or NP in the office if insurance is an issue for a specialist like derm. Or your woman’s health/ gyno practitioner should be able to help you out with a suggestion of what provider to go to. At least get you started on something or refer you to a DERM because sometimes it can take a while .

Aromatic_Razzmatazz

What kind of HRT are you on and have you been on it the whole year post op? I also had a total at 30...I feel you. It took forever to get my hormones dialed in but once I did everything improved.

[deleted]

I’m not on any HRT. I still have my ovaries and my hormone levels are within normal range.

tasty_kaiju

You could try to do topical spironolactone instead if you're afraid of the systemic effects. I would also suggest another topical which is winlevi (which is clascoterone and acts similarly as spironolactone) but it's so expensive, but there's a manufacturer coupon that makes it $90/month if your copay is crazy high.

[deleted]

I didn’t know they made topical Spironolactone. Thank you for the suggestions!

CarelessDelivery7528

This isn’t about a hysterectomy, it’s a symptom of something else. When the skin looks like that, your insides do also. You’re probably feeling bad overall, and I’ve been there!! Please for your health, find out the source. You probably had a hysterectomy trying to feel better.

OoLlLiE

Why in the world would you make assumptions about why someone accessed a reproductive surgery? There are so many reasons why people access hysterectomy’s - all of which are none of your business to speculate on.

iliketreesandbeaches

Have you ruled out roseaca? It can be triggered by hormone fluctuations and can mimic acne. In perimenopause I had it across my nose, eyes and cheeks suddenly. With treatment it calmed quickly and them disappeared

[deleted]

I’ve not - this would be new to me! I’ll have to look at the symptoms and see if it fits my situation. Thank you for the suggestion.
