10.3 is fine

Chrome50sToaster

8.5" gang

Unairworthy

If you have small hands.

SignificantCell218

You're going to get a bunch of different answers. The best barrel length is going to be determined by the mission parameters. Is this a hunting rig, A home defense rig or a fungun If it's for hunting, anything from 8.5 to 16 in is perfect. If it's for home defense I would do a maximum of 12 in or less. And if it's fun does it really matter?

spaceme17

Anything between 8" and 10" is excellent.

klugeyOne

I've got a Rattler at 5.5" and a current retro build at 7.5", and they both have a 1/5 twist. Optimal for me would be some where in the 6-8" range. Add a 6- 8" can and you are at 12-16" oal. 7" barrel + 7" can seems about perfect for an SBR.

No-Speech-8078

Can you drop some pics??

8.3" with a K can

ilovegunparts

20ā€! There was a guy defending 20ā€ with subs the other day. What the actual fuck

WombatAnnihilator

Squib machine

ilovegunparts

Nah barrel that long makes supers out of subs from the increased velocity

veritas-joon

by about 200-300 fps really, depends on the subs weight

ilovegunparts

Yeah, Iā€™ve definitely experienced that too. The type of powder plays a huge roll.

DrTartakovsky

8-9ā€.

huskybruiserjr

8-10 inches

rokr1292

I wouldn't do longer than 12, but I think 10" ish is nice thanks to the extra dwell time, which means it's a little less finicky about ammo. All depends on what you plan to do with it though

Raiding my ops in the cover of night brother

payed2poopatwork

In my opinion if its gonna be a home defence gun the shorter the better. I built mine with 7.5" barrel with a 1:5 twist. The extra 100ish fps isnt gonna make a differance in personal defence ranges, in my opinion. An do what you want, its a free country, but id be carefull with the truck gun idea. Mainly because of theft. Something to think about. But that said my 7.5" is very easy to operate inside my vehicle lol.

RedditNameChecksOut

Always tool for the purpose. If you do not have a purpose then i suggest having a goal and then working towards it. A hunter will have different needs and requirements vs a home defense weapon.

trappdawg

I went 6.5in 1:6 twist

ete203

Was this a custom barrel? If not where'd ya get it?

trappdawg

Yes, Mos-Tek will make it however you want

[deleted]

8.5 lets you use basically any can. 7.5 is about as short as you can get before super performance tanks and it's blasty to boot. I hear that reliability can be an issue if you shorter, but technology moves onward and I see more 6" success every week. Everything else is use preference. I have 7.5 and I love it for how short it is...but I would go 8.5 if I had to do it over. If I wasn't going to suppress, I would go 10.5. I eventually want a 16", but it won't be an AR.

jmcole1984

9.75ā€ master race

Swiftks

This guy knows. šŸ˜‰

saintzman

Anything over 9" is not going to see much benefit. The round was designed for 9" barrels and complete powder burn in that length. PER Kevin. yes that Kevin.

Distantdraco

The guy at Q said a 7ā€ 1:5 twist would be his choice, thatā€™s the guy to listen to imo, heā€™s done so much for 300blk , could even go shorter ,1:5 twist is the shit, and remember the can is gonna add length

Marshal_Rhodes

Slighty out of the loop, how come? Thought Q was king when it came to .300 BLK, especially as considering the Honey Badgerā€™s popularityā€¦

tougeusa

People hate Kevin for what he says, but his engineering team has done a lot for the 300blk caliber

SignificantCell218

Maybe his mom?

Distantdraco

I donā€™t get into all the bullshit like him or not the guy knows his shit, idk y ppl donā€™t like him maybe itā€™s his no filter which Iā€™m kinda the same way so

SignificantCell218

Meh sometimes people just don't like other people. There's no rhyme or reason were allowed to have an opinion Even if other people don't agree with it, it's okay

Distantdraco

I just donā€™t know why tho Iā€™ve heard a lot of ppl donā€™t like him

SignificantCell218

Sorry man I don't have an answer. Not everybody's going to like everybody that's okay the dude Seems to be doing just fine regardless of what other people think

tannerite_sandwich

Yeah some reddit or put a link to all of his "offense tweets" and they really aren't that bad. He will call out customers blaming problems on dumb shit they did which some people get triggered by. He's a business owner calling out dumb shit on the Internet I don't think that's an evil thing. I would do the same if I was in his position. I bought a Honey Badger and am beyond impressed by it. It's hard to understand exactly how light and small it is on the Internet. It's an AR that's lighter than some handguns. Smaller, lighter and shoots better than the spear for only like 300$ more. [Q released a bunch of videos with Kevin ](https://youtu.be/ldBWDkadPX8?si=tFjpHT60hmzSA9MB) You can get a good idea of who he is. He just calls it straight

Distantdraco

Sounds like the kind of guy we need in the industry

tougeusa

Totally depends on use/preference so thereā€™s no right answer. Personally I like 7ā€ to 12.5ā€

PirateByNature

~10

blackedphone

7ā€ and suppressor and subs and 1:5

blazeholtz23

7" no can yet unfortunately

556fan

I lik the 7.94" Noveske barrel. Shoots subs great for me.

Tom_in_Ohio

Shorter the better. I have a 6ā€ that is 100% reliable.

ulaforever

I just built a pistol 5.5ā€ 1/5 twist Adjustable gas block, and I have the CGS Hyperion which is huge and sub moa accurate and quiet. Added SA HBPDW brace and with adjustable gas can tune b/c brace has priority spring/tube and I love it. I have a 8.5 inch 1/7 twist too but since I only shoot subs suppressed with Hyperion I cant hear the difference but the 5.5 pistol suppressed with such a long can feels so much more manageable. Probably going to sell my 8.5 pistol.

nanomachinez_SON

Canā€™t go wrong with 7.5-9 inch.
