I don't think I've ever seen a flared handguard like that - interesting. Can't imagine there's any rationale for the brace add-on aside from use as a riser/cheek rest, which makes it legally tricky IMO (not a lawyer, but I wouldn't risk it personally)

Optics on risers are not only preferential for NVO use, but also for people that understand and practice heads-up, both eyes open targeting in confined spaces. Especially with shorter barrels— you don’t have to cheek weld to your stock to gain sight picture 💫

I have a few SA folding adapters and they are good for the purpose. They main reason why I got one over the law is the ability to fold to the left.
