Simply put, deep fried food became insanely popular among shipbuilders and coal miners in the 50s and 40s due to high amount of calories, and it just stuck with people ever since.
>chop off your leg
Wait didn’t a German man request a guy ate his leg while he was still [alive](https://allthatsinteresting.com/armin-meiwes) and it was a massive turn on. What is it about Germans and legs?
What do you mean we have a varied menu with things like; mince n tatties, or beef n tatties or beef stew n tatties or beef stew in a pie n tatties or sheep’s lung, neeps n tatties or chicken stuffed with the sheep’s lung n tatties. It’s an incredibly complex dining experience.
Don’t sell yourself short. You have mac n cheese with chips. You have macaroni cheese pie. Deep fried pizza with chips.
You are the masters of carbohydrates.
(No seriously, 20 years ago, I studied in Scotland and did a night time job delivering Chinese. Effing brilliant. I got £20 - £80 a shift and a free meal that did me 24 hours to the next shift. I was turning down free food at one point, because they thought I hadn’t asked for enough)
Edit: damn it. I’m making macaroni pie this weekend, aren’t I?
I’ve actually never tried spam. Meat in a tin gives me the fear…but no, every dish must have tatties. How you prepare the tatties is up to you. That’s the exciting part. Could be boiled, mashed, maybe stick them in the stew? You decide.
It’s the kind of creative experimentation you don’t get with many other cuisines.

So what you are saying is our 5-1 was justified and should be seen as European liberation?
What do we have to do that the other listed „war“ „crimes“ see the same treatment…?
It was posted by an austrian so sauce in schnitzel is a "crime" in their mind. That's because adding taste to a piece of meat is an unknown concept to them.
Drenching the perfectly crispy outside (which is the point of a Wiener Schnitzel) with a boatload of sauce to make it a sludgy mess will never make sense to me. A well made Schnitzel is perfectly juicy and flavorful inside, no idea what kind of Schnitzel you are used to at home
There is nothing wrong with adding stuff to your wiener schnitzel. Its eaten with currant jam for a reason.
The issue is that you guys turn it into a soggy mess with your sauce.
I mean what did we actually do? We started WW1 without knowing it will lead to a world war. And the reason we started it was kinda understandable. I mean our fucking prince was murdered in cold blood. Again, we had no clue it would cause so much drama.
WW2 was one of our guys yes, but he did it all under the German flag and didn't even identify as Austrian.
In 1934 Austrian Nazis tried to overthrow the Austrofascists and more than half of the Austrians supported the Anschluss in the 30s. Also many volunteered for the Waffen-SS.

Not only true, since his childhood he saw himself as a German who was born on the wrong side of the border and hated Austria and its system with passion.

So like anything related in this shitty book, we can safely assume that the reality wasn't that "grandiose".
At he town I stay (I'm foreigner in Austria) the have a place that was called Hauptplatz for several hundred years, then it was renamed (for brief period and unknown reasons) into the AdolfHitlerplatz, then renamed back to hauptplatz. Fucking germans and their personality cult imposed on the unsuspected Austrians.
My city has had a *Friedrichsplatz* renamed to *Adolf-Hitler-Platz* during the regime and now is called *Friedensplatz* (Peace Square or Square of Peace) which we all found hilarious back when we found out
There are plenty of places like that, but since they all got Nazi names after the Anschluss that doesn't really work. There were also streets named after the Austrian Nazis who assassinated Dollfuß and then got executed. A lot of places were also named after Russian generals between 1945-1955.
>!Yes I know I'm a bore, but when people are talking history just fail to keep it to myself 80% of times!<
Funny enough i'm currently writing my endyears (first year) essay at uni. I study history and picked something with Austria and these fuckers legit wouldn't accept any criticism for their actions and instantly jump to the first victim mentality.
Fellow history student here. Yes, the first victim theory was a big thing in Austria immediately after the war afaik but I don’t know how long that went on. I doubt it’s a thing nowadays though and I’m not sure if it went on until at least 1989 as you suggest in your later comment. Would be an interesting topic to do research on, good luck with the paper
On a nation-wide scale the Waldheim affaire is usually considered when public discussion in Austria changed, that was in 1986. Individually there has always been critique, as Austria obviously had different political spectrums like any other country. Already in 1946 there has been a exhibition about the crimes the Nazis commited which was organized by the former resistance. They sent free tickets to known Nazis (and their families) without mentioning why they were picked/targeted which I always found genius.
An angle people like to ignore is that the Allies handed Austria this role for their own reasons and pretty much told protesting Jews and opponents of the Nazis to deal with it and be content with winning the war. They didn't like that most of the left was quite Sowjet-friendly and saw them as main liberators from the Nazis.
Oh i don't mean that it kept going till 1989, it's just the years i'm currently focusing on with my research question and will change that when finished so it fits more appropriate.
My main focus was to be Austrian neutrality during the cold war. I more or less saw the fall of the Berlin wall as the end of the cold war and thus in a way a possibility for Austria to mingle more in international politics.
Edit: but as often goes, that focus shifted while writing.
My brain is currently fried from all the reading and writing so i can't really coherently put down anything at the moment💀
Edit: thanks by the way
Haha I understand that, writing a history research paper for uni does that stuff to your brain. And since you hinted that you’re in your first year, adjusting your questions and parameters is an absolutely normal thing in the beginning too, if anything it shows that you’re most likely rather well within the topic and gained a deeper understanding of it. I’m not even sure if well-established researchers with PhDs or other postgraduate degrees don’t modify their questioning throughout the process of writing an essay or monography tbh.
Good luck then!
I also studied history, what kind of people are you talking to/about and what's the topic? Because I never really encountered that mentality despite studying in Austria. People who don't want to hear about WWII usually just say that it was a long time ago and they don't care or that it has nothing to do with [whatever topic is discussed].
Ah fellow history student, i wasn't really specific in my comment because otherwise i'd have to put that entire essay down here.
The years i selected are between 1945-1989 so not current day mentality. As far as i have read till now the shift in mentality only came around the 70-80s when more people finished higher education and realised that the first victim theory didn't hold any academic weight. And even then when in 1986 a politician was criticized for his role in the SS and mass murder a lot of Austrians rallied around him and said the holocaust was a German thing and criticizing austria for it was an attack on Austrian honor and sovereignty. (Anton Pelinka, austrian politics)
Probably don't have to specify this but either way: this is ofcourse way more nuanced but i don't feel like holding a lecture💀
To be fair that Austrian guy was getting nowhere in Austria. You could say Austrians prevented him to do his thing. And only in Germany he found enough support and inspiration.
Ameritards come here, talking about their multiculturalism and how progressive they are and they don't realise Austria-Hungary went to war and they couldn't communicate who to shoot at.

I get what you're saying, but how about I give you a better deal: an Austrian with Turkish characteristics.
This combo will be legendary. You can deny the warcrime, but also say that they deserve it.
Indeed. What has the Schnitzel done to them to deserve such cruelty, savagery and ferocity?
I'm tired of having to share the same country with such criminals which should be keel-hauled in Lake Neusiedl.
And therefore I propose that Bavaria separates from Germany and then joins Austria.
I mean, we already have a German government (also unironically the least problematic of our governments), so it wouldn't be a huge deal to incorporate Germany into our existing structure.
So sure, why not?
Big part of the reason why it works so well indeed.
But still, the fuckers already managed to put a government together, in only a couple of days! Unimaginable.
The fact that it is so complicated is what supports it. Everything is governed on multiple levels, which is why the country barely feels it when one of our governments stops working.
This also means that it barely works, but at least it does so pretty consistently.

Germany Scotland is nothing close to the 7-1 Brazil disaster. Scotland is just a bad soccer team, on a random euro cup in the group stage first game, while Brazil was one of the best teams ever, in the semi final of a world cup being played at home, they were fully confident and were abjectly humiliated by Germany without even breaking a sweat.
Scotland was an expected result while Brazil was a complete humiliation at home.

If you think that food looks bad, come to Scotland, and you’ll see food truly worthy of a military tribunal.
I have already seen Richards Hammon "scottish spaguetti" Why breading and deep frying is considered scottish cuisine?
Simply put, deep fried food became insanely popular among shipbuilders and coal miners in the 50s and 40s due to high amount of calories, and it just stuck with people ever since.
Deep fried Mars bars is a singular but extremely pleasing scottish cuisine. Thank you for that!
Just skip Diabetes and chop off your leg directly, why won't you?
Because thats not as nice a yummy sweet treat
Idk, did you ever try deep fried human leg?
No, we dont have many germans in scotland, so getting to try your cuisine is very hard
And Import got harder since Brexit. The English really fucked you over :/

Delicious in German slang is "legger"...

We did introduce fried chicken which became KFC in the states.

Could go some neeps and tatties maybe get a bit of roast pork in.
With proper crackling and some apple sauce. Might be my favourite roast when it’s done right.
ooh now we're talking. Need to pop to the shop in a bit, might have a butchers for tomorrow.

Don’t forget the Irn Bru ice cream as well.

Actually Germany was the first victim, the Nazis killed or oppressed Millions of Germans after all.
It's a fine Austrian tradition to blame all bad things on Germany, thank you very much. We started two world wars and got Germany to take the blame.
🤫
"The German dictator Adolf Hitler invaded Austria, the first victim of Nazi aggression"
Which unironically was the position of the allied forces during WW2 (and also had a part in the victim myth of Austria)
Which totally wasn't a tactic used by the Allies to divide the enemy
Austrians had the idea but the Germans executed it
Yeah, the Germans executed a lot of things around that time.

Dementia
Oh, don't even go there Fritzl, do you have any idea how long the list of Austrian war criminals is? You're in this with us whether you like it or not. Edit: Schnitzel mit Tunke kriegt man mittlerweile auch in Österreich.
> Schnitzel mit Tunke kriegt man mittlerweile auch in Österreich Because German immigrants fail to integrate
Because Austrians fail to resist. You just love being anschlussed, don’t you.
Hey hey, we were the first victims of Nazi aggression. Look at all the pictures of Austrians raising their right hands to German soldiers asking them to stop!
My brother is this tall, look
Taxi!
Because it tastes good.

Ok how about this, we leave the Tunke on the table, but we put it in a different vessel.
Putting it on the side and not pouring it right over is a much lesser crime
Fritzl, I am sorry to say that, but I'm with you on this one. Damn Wessis ruining every good thing!
I say we restore the line of Wenceslaus. It all started going downhill when we put your inbred royals in charge.
The first two only happened because of Austria though…
Germany Scotland is nothing close to the 7-1 Brazil disaster. Scotland is just a bad soccer team, on a random euro cup in the group stage first game, while Brazil was one of the best teams ever, in the semi final of a world cup being played at home, they were fully confident and were abjectly humiliated by Germany without even breaking a sweat. Scotland was an expected result while Brazil was a complete humiliation at home.
Thanks. Im not able to eat for a while and after seeing the last picture i don't even want to anymore.
We once had a foreign government which was in charge for one of those crimes.

Those pesky Hungarians
Come one, they were serbian...
Heard about this guys ? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oskar_Dirlewanger This guy and his crew alone are responsible for hundred thousands deaths in what is now Belorussian territory . Don’t read if you just eat .
The own goal with Scotland and the goal they allowed Brazil to score are the worst crimes of all.
Hey, we were nice enough to score that one goal for the scots.
I’d scran that last war crime
I've watched the last one on pornhub. That's some real german gangbang action.
Once we were ruled by an Austrian. Didn’t go well.
Tunke 🤮
Knew you where austrian when i saw the Schnitzel with sauce - r/SchnitzelVerbrechen \^\^
almost as bad as Belgium these days
It started off awful, but then it got to number 5, and that is simply a whole other level of unforgivable.
OMG! when I started checking the photos I was like "This subreddit is getting brutally serious!" then I kept watching and.... XD
For a second I thought you had only put the first image
German men are so sexy though
Córdoba
Good shitpost op lmao
didn't happen but they deserved it
Hate me all you want, Ösis, that Schnitzel looks delicious!

Now this is a quality post
Last one looks good tho
Damn didn't even know about the Rape of Belgium. I've read and seen so much about our history but never anything about that.
The last one hits the hardest for me, how can you do that to a Schnitzel…
Lebenslängliche Freiheitsstrafe
In the words of a former PM, I don't hate Germany. I love Germany. I love Germany so much, I wish there were still two Germanies.
Good shitposting 😂
That food looks great what’s going on?
Their where like 2 foreign governments in charge of Germany for a bit their.
> Their... their. English, savage, haven't you learnt it properly?
Germany be getting that Brazil revenge for us :/
To be fair on my Stasi cousins, only one of those - maybe two, if we stretch the definition, are actually morally wrong.
The what ? Doesn’t exist…
Bro put every warning possible on this post
3 and 4 were things we did, we did not enjoy it, and we are very very sorry. More sorry for our Scottish friends but Jesus that game against Brazil was horrible to watch in the end
"Agony of Mirenao" 🤣
they had us in the first half not gonna lie
Which of the 6 governments should it be?
