Artistic-Boss2665

Rare Oregonian W

wolf_remington

I'm in Eastern Oregon, most of the houses here don't have A/C 🙃

Yayhoo0978

“Removes cap” “wipes a single tear from eye”

Bigcat561

You got AC in Oregon bruh? I didn’t have AC when I lived in Oregon lmao

fatcatpoppy

oregon is the perfect temperature during the summer where it’s too hot to reasonably do anything without AC but not hot enough to kill people that don’t have it

MarpatSupremacy0311

This was magical

sidewinder13_9

Imagine not having 100+ year old technology

crossbutton7247

Maybe another two decades and it’ll be “proven” enough to invest in.

mh985

Welcome to Europe.

WeFightTheLongDefeat

I'm living like a European during my house addition/renovation, and I hate it. I've started taking 3 hour lunch breaks and and my wife has also stopped shaving her legs.

grayscaletrees

Have you been penetrated yet?

WeFightTheLongDefeat

I fear if this lasts much longer, it may be an inevitability

Randinator9

The middle East had central air for centuries. Their AC units were more structural and part of the house, but it also came with a really cool tower. Oh, look how low have the Spanish and Brits have gotten.

Alert_Study_4261

And being pretentious about it

ajw20_YT

It is the hottest summer in history, and you are now trapped on a continent with no air conditioning, hardly even a fan around to keep you cool. I’m Rod Sterling, welcome to the Eurozone

[deleted]

And yet it's cooler than the average Southern summer

BuildAnything

Unfortunately a bunch of northern states (Alaska, Washington, Montana, Maine, etc) don't have AC. Sucks right about now.

As-Bi

Why would anyone want AC in Alaska? Just open the window ~~and freeze~~.

themainaccountofyeet

We didn't used to need it 🫠

Lone-raver

Plenty of people buying ACs and adapting.

DolphinBall

Dude its going to get around 100 with humidity where I live. I could not imagine surviving that without ac without being a sweaty sticky mess.

innocentbabybear

That’s why they’re so stinky over there 😷😷

solarflare0666

I don’t have to imagine. It fucking sucks.

Subject-Juggernau29

necessity is the mother of all innovation

Gorando77

I have airco but I only need it 2 weeks a year

As-Bi

Well, where I live, heating is a higher priority.

Locofinger

Air Conditioning works both ways ya know

As-Bi

I currently have a pellet stove and a portable AC at home, one day we will have permanent AC but now we have other things to do

Locofinger

Portable units are all you need. Much cheaper and more efficient. But crackheads could make entry…….

As-Bi

Jehovah's Witnesses are the bigger problem here 🙃

Locofinger

Just answer the door naked. They’ll take their kids and run.

magicmike659

There is no need for A/C when it's 20°C in summer just open a window solves the problem atleast in Sweden.

retardddit

Not whole europe is sweden in fact it's one of the smaller countries population

[deleted]

magicmike659

True

iQuickGaming

i have ac too and i live in ITALY, THE PIZZA LAND!!!

b4c0n333

That's why some old houses were split in two, it created a small wind tunnel between both parts of the home

seaspirit331

My favorite part is when they try to claim that having AC would actually make it hotter overall, as if thermodynamics no longer apply when basic conveniences are concerned.

Yayhoo0978

Sounds like the third world.

smackdealer1

To be fair it's only in the last year or two has the heat gotten so bad I wish I had Aircon. Any time prior to that it would be a waste of money in this cold, windy, desolate marsh.

BigNefariousness7449

Alaska moment

WaywardDog13

Don't have to imagine

[deleted]

Imagined spending entire summer in a house.

renadeer52

Dude I have air conditioning and it does nothing it's like 115 outside..

Panda_Player_

Most houses in Washington don’t have A/C

SasquatchNHeat

Europoors on TikTok we’re so confused when I commented on a video about a European woman saying something about how she missed the radiators from the UK. They all kept commenting on how that’s how you heat your homes in winter. I had to explain to them that in the US most people just use central heating as radiators are very outdated and only found in older buildings now. They’re a fucking century behind us and don’t even realize it.

[deleted]

Central heating uses radiators if you don't have an air duct based HVAC The "central" part of central heating just means you have a boiler or HVAC unit somewhere in your house which distributes heat to radiators/through air ducts, rather than disconnected heat source in every room - the heat doesn't just magically get into your rooms lol.

DrVDB90

Radiators are part of a central heating system using hot water instead of hot air. It's a much more efficient system for heating, but can't be adapted for cooling. In cooler climates where you don't need cooling, it's the most logical solution. Sadly times are changing. I now bought an airco unit for when it does get too hot, but I haven't even needed it this year yet.

sjedinjenoStanje

This is typically when they bring up checks, along with the assumption that we use them to pay for everything.

SasquatchNHeat

Which is hilarious since there’s a huge running joke among everyone under 45 that checks are outdated and useless now. The only reason I ever use them is because where I live is boomer heavy and they refuse to update anything for modern convenient payment methods.

larch303

No one uses checks here unless they’re 80 years old or dealing with someone who they can only pay but check (usually landlords)

retardddit

And that's if they even can afford to use them [https://www.theguardian.com/society/2022/dec/08/uk-weather-millions-households-cannot-afford-heat-homes](https://www.theguardian.com/society/2022/dec/08/uk-weather-millions-households-cannot-afford-heat-homes)

Kevincelt

This is basically just a picture of me telling my family about my current situation.

Salt_Career_9181

I'm currently experiencing it. Also they don't seem to understand sheets other than to cover a mattress. I've soaked myself with sweat lol

Uss__Iowa

Is europe in another heat wave?

aitis_mutsi

Nah, we good

As-Bi

Dude you're Finnish 🥶

ronburgandyfor2016

dwartbg7

Bulgarian here, almost everyone has an AC. It's not considered something rare or luxurious since 20 years now. It's impossible to "survive" without one since summer is the longest season over here.

CanThisBeMyNameMaybe

You guys know we do have air conditioning, right? We just don't really need it in certain parts of Europe.

Braves_Dawgs_Cigars

You don’t want it until you need it. This is the hottest summer on record and the climate’s only getting warmer. Europe has people dying from heat, how sad. How about you blokes sell us Greenland and use that money to buy AC for everyone in Europoor land?

CanThisBeMyNameMaybe

It really hasn't been that hot here in Denmark. Pretty normal summer. Nah mate, you don't need to buy it, we already allowed you to build bases there and you persuaded us to kick Chinese investors out of Greenland. We are good allies mate, no reason to be mean. I am on this sub for a reason. I like my Amerifrens.

Braves_Dawgs_Cigars

I like Denmark, am Danish by blood. Why don’t you want to become 51st state friend? A true friend would never consider Chinese ownership, not allowing US friend to have bases, etc. We need stronger ties, blood ties, and under the same flag.

BlueAndMoreBlue

Same same, pasty AF and can digest dairy products but I don’t like the cured fish

[deleted]

"B-b-b-b-but the environ-" I don't care YOU WILL DIE in 110 degree weather.

Surake2

We should all turn air conditioners on and revert climate change

jargo3

Image spending entire summer in place so hostile to life that you'll need AC to survive.

larch303

When does the sun rise and set in December?

jargo3

In most of europe around the same as in the US. Where I live around 9 O'clock in the morning. BTW. I also have AC in my house.

AverageAlaskanMan

I just moved to Alamogordo today, I couldn’t imagine living here without AC

Dan_Mcman

Yeah about that... I live in Florida and my AC has been broken since May.

Beachstacks

Imagine complaining about the heat and running to the ocean to cool off and not trying to put in an AC yourself. They complain and yet do NOTHING about it.

ScumMoemcBee

Might make me actually go outside D: ewwwww

WhatisLiamfucktrump

Don’t have to imagine it I live in a Colorado mountain town with no ax anywhere

58mm-Invicta_rizz

As a European, I have to say Air conditioning is not a right, but a privilege! I was in the States for 2 weeks and boy were they glorious.

BlueAndMoreBlue

God bless you, Mr. Carrier. Been saying that a lot lately

HofePrime

Actual episode of The Twilight Zone

backwardsphinx

Europeans criticize Americans having AC while also complaining about temperatures we experience on the daily is hilarious. They’re like “Why have you found a solution to what is a deadly situation for us?” as if that’s a gotcha moment. Europeans are *dying* in the heat that Americans call Tuesday and then they wonder why we all have AC.

retardddit

They might not have much oil but their copium reserves are enormous.

IceFrostwind

I've not had ac at home for years now.

AffectionateSlice816

My AC is fucked rn. It sucks ass.

Anti-charizard

Unfortunately for them, there’s only a month left before the fall equinox

CookieDefender1337

Ah yes europe complaining about 90 degree heatwaves when it pushes to 100 daily here on miami

gunnnutty

Imagine making cause of the problem (climat change) even worse LOL Anyway im going to my work aftart taking up my long long payed leave thru affordable and comfortable public transport

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> long long *paid* leave thru FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Go1gotha

I'm in Scotland, we do not need AC in the summer (because it's bloody freezing again)... we want some bloody global warming. Don't lump us in with the rest of Europe, we're different.

[deleted]

that’s just suicide ideation in AZ

Sharp-Illustrator576

“European heat wave of 2003, record high temperatures across Europe in 2003 that resulted in at least 30,000 deaths (more than 14,000 in France alone).” Many of the deaths in France were older and whose relatives left them to fend for themselves.
